  • Add a hard drive (SSD) and move windows with partition

    Hi all

I'm running Windows 7 on a new PC, I built.  Current record
    Intel i7 3.5 GHz
    16 GB OF RAM
    HDD WD 1 TB
I added a 256 GB SSD and another 1 TB HARD drive to the system (they will be here Wednesday), and I'm looking for more articles on how to move the operating system for the SSD.  It seems that most people replace their HDD rather than add to their systems, so I'm not the answers I want exactly.
I want to move the operating system for the SSD (and partition such that I can also install Ubuntu 12.10 on it, which was also a giant headache for me today... but this isn't the venue...)  while keeping many programs (games, mainly) and storage on the HARD drive.  I saw some instructables on how use a 3rd party backup/restore to move everything...  My question is, what is lost by simply reinstalling windows for the new SSD and then uninstall the old HD?  Is this all simply impossible to install two instances of windows on a single computer bootable?  Or that would result in all my programs does not not on the new installation?
Otherwise, the windows7 install disc will allow me to reinstall it on the new drive as a replacement/installation action?  I was under the impression that everything would be kept and still accessible in old "windows" folder after such facilities.
    Thank you.

    Hi spectrum,

    Thanks for the reply.

As suggested above, to create a Windows 7 image and save the image on the external drive (do not save in the new hard drive). Once you install windows 7 on new hard drive, you can restore the windows image 7.

You should have done a clean install of Vista's Custom, deletion of partition of Windows 7 during the process.

If you use the recovery disk from the manufacturer, contact them as to the correct way.

This isn't their recovery process, Microsoft...

If you use a Vista DVD, read on:

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  • Cannot start Windows 10 (Partition exists in the startup disk)

Right, I accept all first I did something stupid - I resized a partition. I resized my Mac OSX Partition but not changed the Windows/BOOTCAMP Partition. My MBP has no DVD/CDROM drive. OK with that of the road, I have browsed these forums for centuries and can not find how to re - add the partition to the boot sequence. All files etc are in the score, and it is an option in 'Start Up' disc. It is not just show when booting with the down option. Orders/Info added on similar topics:

    • If I try to use 'Start Up' drive to restart Windows, it does not work, I just get a black screen.
    • Due to the configuration that I can't really afford to reinstall everything on a new partition I would everything white / software installed, install Windows 7, upgrade to 10, reinstall various licenses etc, it would take me 2 days and my schedule does not allow for this.

  • NB100 implemented black screen after Windows (with bar)

    Hello
    I have laptop nb100.

My Windows XP is not loading (learn how to Windows with screen bar, then it blocks black).

I thought just re-intall Windows XP, so I tranfered my WinXP to .iso format and placed on my formatted USB (XP and .iso seem well).

I changed my computer to boot from USB and f12 on start up and it goes to the USB port, no probs. Then, I get a black screen with these choices:

1, text-mode Setup (flash start again after)
2nd, continuous mode GUI installation, setup + 1 start windows
---> DEBUGGING Options. Try if you have the hal.dll error<>
Debug the rdisk 1 2 boot partition
Debug the rdisk 1 3 boot partition
Debug the rdisk 1 4 boot partition
Debug the rdisk 2 1 boot partition
Debug the rdisk 2 2 boot partition
Debug the 2 3 rdisk boot partition
Debug the 2 4 rdisk boot partition

Option: text-mode installation 1, (start to flash again after).
kicks in a blue screen with the Windows installation
    wallpaper load some info
then it crashes on Setup starts windows

I have Win Xp SP2, was originally installed SP3, but can not find the drive (have to SP2 and 3) so I have Win XP SP2 through ISO then installed on usb (not sure if that is the question)

All I want is to re - install the computer (no I have not re - install discs), so I thought it would be easier to re XP - install.

    Any assistance received very highly.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hello

    > so I tranfered my WinXP in .iso format and put on my formatted USB key

Sorry, man, but I did not understand how you have transferred it.

I advise to get windows copy disk and USB drive to make a bootable usb drive to install windows.

You can make a USB bootable in 2 ways:

    1. manually with the command prompts

    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=53324&TSTART=60

2 automatically using programs such as WinSetupFromUSB or Novicorp WinToFlash

  • Dual Boot Linux and Windows with HDDRecovery problem

    Hello

I use the dual operating system Windows Vista and Linux open SUSE distribution on Toshiba Satellite A350-10z, everything works great except Windows Recovery. I have Linux (start: dev / sda6) and Windows Vista (starting: dev / sda2). Windows has 2 partitions, C and D drive, D drive I have folder HDDRecovery. After F8 I using the option of repair and waiting, then massage is displayed "the installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer.

Before I installed Linux recovery worked well. Is there a chance to use the HDDRecovery of Windows Disk D or I have to boot from the recovery DVD?

In my opinion, Linux messed with partitions or the MBR and maybe that is the reason why HARD drive recovery does not seems the DVD recover is your order of ion option to restore the laptop to factory settings.
By the way: I didn't install Linux on my laptop, but I use Linux using the Knoppix Live CD

  • Acer Aspire R7 - 572 stuck with white screen

My windows was stuck and I pressed the power button / stop with force. After that turned it back on it was blocked on the acer boot logo I pressed ctrl + alt + delete. It was not the passage of acer logo. Finally, he showed the automatic recovery of windows on the start screen. Since then his black screen stuck on its been nearly two hours. Nothing has worked.
    Help, please.

    Nene,

I regret that the computer does not load Windows. I would recommend using recovery media to restore the system to factory settings. If you don't have a recovery media, this can be bought through the store.acer.com or by phone with technical support.

If the recovery media is not available, you can always contact our technical support in your region for assistance. The question might also be related to the HARD drive and would need assistance.

  • No windows with the laptop

My mother bought a new laptop today, a HP G6 1302eo, but there was no CD of windows with it. Why? I need. I wanted to make a partition and arrived to make the dynamic disk and want to return that. Why the hell do you want to sell a PC without the BONE on the side?

HP machines (as well as others) are equipped with software to create a disk recovery OS > HP Recovery Manager

However this function usually is broken once change you the hard drive and it is converted to dynamic because of the constraints of 4 partitions already present. Daniel has a GUIDE on creating partitions without changing dynamics.

Your main problem is now becoming the hard drive in normal condition, which will probably require an operating system recovery disc and no longer can be done on the laptop. You can order from HP for a small shipping/handling fees. >Contact HP

  • I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista. I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network.

original title: Wireless on the Fritz

I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista.  I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network (both are networks limited requiring a password or log in).  However, last week my computer stopped connecting to my home network (no one else has this problem with the home network).  I tried to fix the problem, but my computer says that "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive response from the access point or wireless router."  That said also thatthe connection "(my wireless network)" has been cancelled.  This is perhaps due to a timeout or user action. »

The only different thing I did last week was click option at my University 'connect long-term' instead of 'connect short term' to their wireless network.  Maybe who has messed up my settings?  That's what my University said of his record long term: "students, faculty and staff also have an option to easily record their computer (or other wireless devices), so that it is not necessary to authenticate each day they connect from the network wireless campus, to resources outside the University.»  However, these settings are saved on their network (I can access it online from another computer), so I think it is unlikely that he messed up my settings.

I don't really know what the problem is.  Any ideas as to what I can do?  I don't want to reset my computer everything.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to disable any program of security on your computer and check if it solves the problem.

After reviewing the question you must reactivate the security on your computer program.
Note: Run the computer without antivirus software or firewall is a potential threat to the computer; Be sure to activate security software after completing the troubleshooting steps and after identifying the problem.
    Method 2:
I suggest also allows you to check in SafeMode with network.
    Method 3:
I also suggest you to check the settings of the router firewall.
  • How ascess the files in my Windows Vista Partition in Windows 7?

How ascess the files in my Windows Vista Partition in Windows 7? I have Windows Vista Partition, I case these files through my Windows 7 partition without logging in there?

    Thank you

You should be able to (I'm virtually certain it's possible) If you have the appropriate permissions or property rights in your Vista partition to allow access of the user of Windows7 or users of Windows7.  It's the way it works with XP and Vista and I suspect that it is essentially the same thing here.  You may need to add the users to the Vista partition/folders/files in Windows7 using regardless of their process (it varies probably Vista so I won't bother posting method Vista to do).

The best thing to do is to follow the advice of Michael Murphy and get help from experts in the Windows7 Forums.
