Activation of Vista tips

After my young grandson destroyed another laptop, I decided to make my old Dell inspiron working for him use all necessary has been the replacement of the hard disk. It had been bought with XP on it and according to the serial number, it was built with XP but had an OEM for Vista sticker on top. Vista is a bit a stranger to me but I loaded it on the computer and the activation key has been accepted until it updated to SP2, at that time he told me that the activation code was not recognized and I needed to buy another etc..

I have what seems to be a genuine activation code for Microsoft Vista and the sticker on the computer, but cannot activate it because Microsoft won't recognize-is it true and if yes what course of action have I left open for me to get this machine running

Glad you he got up and running, active and good standing.

As to why he decided to accept it; This will remain one of life's little mysteries.

Please let us know.

See you soon.

Original title: Activation of Vista problem...

I have a version legally obtained from Microsoft Vista that I've been running on my laptop. Recently I had a few problems with the battery and have decided to withdraw from the laptop before complete failure and virtualize on another machine. While I've been running the virtual machine for some time without problem, I recently ran in the form of horse "activate this version of Windows. My attempts to authenticate my version of Vista were not successful and clicking on the 'buy a new online product key' send me a useless part of Windows 8 to the Microsoft site. Interestingly, I was able to authenticate my copy of Microsoft Office on the virtual machine.

I have IMPOSSIBLE upgrade to Windows 7 or 8, and must be able to continue to run Vista (or XP/ME/98) with some mission critical internal software. I'm happy to buy another license for Vista, however, it seems impossible. Without the ability to replace the laptop battery, upgraded the laptop or upgrade of the software to work with Windows 7/8, I have to find a way to authenticate this license of Vista in the virtual environment.
Please, Please help. I don't want to have an "unauthorized" copying of Windows on my machine.
    Kind regards
    Matthew.
P.S. I already have a copy of Windows 7 running and a large part of mission critical functionality is broken under this version of Windows.

    Thanks Noel.

I did a little more digging into the problem following your advice and that of the original notebook computer manufacturer. It seems that the copy of Vista that I was sold with the laptop is an edition OEM who cannot be virtualized in this way, and therefore the problem with activation.
So it seems that I have two choices, (1) try and find a replacement laptop that comes with Vista (unlikely) or (2) buy another copy of Vista (full version this time) through Microsoft (if possible).
The only other option after that must pay my original developers an extreme amount for re - write the software for a Mac/PC/Tablet platform to date. I know that I'll need to do afterwards, because of the nature of something to do with computers (i.e. nothing left hard or constant for decades), but as with any business, I can't keep bleeding of money on perpetual upgrades. This is especially true when the only reason for the upgrade seems to be that the software is ' is no longer supported "rather than because it no longer meets our needs.
Once again, many Christmas thanks for your help anyway. Do you by chance know if there is a way to buy a new key license through Microsoft?
    Kind regards
    Matthew.
  • I need a product key of base of activation of vista that mine is worn out so bad, I can't read it can anyone help?

It's so nuts that I need an activation for windows vista basic product key, because mine is so worn out, I can't read and I already install from scratch with all my pc drivers what a PIN in the lacrosse can someone give me a key

    Hello

Sorry, but no product key can be given, or are available, free of charge.

And Microsoft sells more than Vista.

If your COA sticker is worn:

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

This may or may not work as you have reinstalled, and we do not know by what method:

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

The methods above resettlement generally do not require allows you to provide a product key during Installation, the recovery process uses the Installation product key factory to activate automatically during the resettlement process.

  • activation of Vista to win 7 pro

I got a laptop for my daughter and she didn't want XP. She loved the vista because it's what they were at the school. So, I took the vista ultimate that I already had and installed on the laptop. now three months later he told me that it is bad and the key code is already used. so I went and bought windows 7 pro to install but I can't get around how it is locked in the activation of windows vista. Download Windows 7 pro told me to get out and start with vista but I can get there and if I start it in safe mode it says that it does not support. is the only thing that I can do a custom installation?

, I'm guessing an OEM license. Windows Vista Ultimate OEM software. Windows 7 is pro for OEM software. When I reset the bios to boot from the disk, it did but when I got to the part of saving files and do the upgrade instead of the complete (where I lose all my files) it tells me to resart my computer and go through the operating system on the computer already.

I have to take this windows 7 back and get something else?

I'm trying to go through internet and MS web site and down load a new key, but it takes forever and constantly lose connection or patients because it is so slow. What to do on another computer?

I'm guessing an OEM license. Windows Vista Ultimate OEM software

If it is OEM you can not transfer it to another machine.

These are the information about this:

If the laptop/computer came with preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.), this product key provided with your computer/laptop to the OEM license preinstalled and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) is related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when dies of this machine.

Only retail Operating System license that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

    _______________________________________

You can't do an upgrade with the OEM software; It must do a clean install.

And even if it is a retail license, there is no way to upgrade from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Pro.

It must be done with a clean boot from the Windows 7 DVD installation.

  • activation of vista home, service Pack2 problems

A couple of months, I had a problem with my PC crashing when I was with my music player or media. After contacting windows answers finally got help and the problem has been corrected (or seemed to be) after receiving instructions to do a clean reinstall of my vista home package, service pack 2. After a week or two, it started crashing again. Being a nice guy, I thought only not to harm microsoft again and reinstalled my OS again. After trying to activate vista online, microsoft now tell me I can't do a clean install, because it is an upgrade package. They have now closed some operations. I was happy with my vista home for 4 years and that you don't want to upgrade again immediately that there is another windows OS on the horizon. What can I please?

Original title: Activation of Windows Vista

When I try to activate my Windows Vista and put my PC it gives an error number: 0xc004e003.
    Can anyone help?
    Sorry for the bad English...

If you mean that you can not activate automatically, try to do it manually:

To activate manually, go to start, search, and type in slui 4 enter.  Enter your country and press Next.  You will be on a screen with a phone number and a bunch of codes below.  Dial the number and browse automatic guests until you get to a human being.  Have your handy product code because it will be asked.  Explain the situation, but it's the same PC and only installed on this PC.  They should give you a code to enter on this screen to activate Vista.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • Re-Activation Windows Vista problem

Last night my PC, I've had for almost a year (running Windows Vista Service Pack 2) changed the schemee of 32-bit color and crashed.  I restarted, and when he arrived at the Vista logo animation before opening of session, he said that my copy of Windows was not authentic.  I manually turned off and tried again today.

Of course, I'm on, but there is a message of 3 lines in the lower right corner of my screen that says "Windows Vista (TM) Build 6002 this copy of Windows is not genuine".  I wrote down the product key on the sticker on my PC and went into the system.  The current key was "89578-OEM-7352477-22174.  I clicked on "Change product key" and put in on the side of my PC, and it said that the activation was successful.  However, the product key is always '89578-OEM-7352477-22174' and the message is still on the bottom right of my screen.  I'd appreciate any help.

    Thanks in advance.

Whenever you format the HD you will need to reactivate, unless you restore an image of the active system.
Change most of the equipment does not trigger reactivation, but change the motherboard certainly would.
Only if you change a number of devices about the time came other things would trigger requests for reactivation.

  • Activation of Vista after installing on another computer

So not too long ago, I built a PC with my brother who was destined for the games. We have not had any problems with anything so far. Activation ceases to appear and enter the product key only nets that the key is already in use. However, my brother and I have installed the version of vista is supposed to have an unlimited license. I'm the only one having this problem because my brother and brother-in-law of brother both use the same version of vista on their computer.

Any ideas as to what could be the problem?

There is no such thing as an unlimited license for Windows.  You can't use the product key because it is already in use. You must have your own legitimate operating system with its own product key.

If your computer is pre-installed with Vista or an OEM disk/license you bought yourself, it is classified as an OEM license and is not transferable.

The license of Vista OEM is related to the original computer it is installed on and dies with the computer.
You cannot transfer it to another computer/laptop

If a license of Vista at retail, you can transfer it to another computer/laptop.
But it can only be installed on one computer at a time.
