Activity of the horrible disk with comments off
I hope someone can help because it becomes uncontrollable. I used to run ESXi 3.5 last year and had to move away it is for this reason. At the time it was Debian 5.0 running and a small another VM. A few times a day there is something really bad drive maybe 5-10 minutes, enough that users would be complaining and then it would go away. At the time, it was a single hard drive Western Digital. The thing is that the witness disk in ESXi activity would not show no disk activity, as if it were the host not prompted to do so.
Fast forward to today, I'm giving ESXi another shot, this time with 4.0. This different time machine. 8 GB memory DDR2, two VM running, a total of 9 TB of usable space on a controller 5i Perc from Dell, Intel Quad Core processor. Works very well for a few days, my raid finally ended synchronization and no disk activity. So tonight I noticed that the headlights are regular, major activity. So I check the performance table, no activity of the disk for the client, or said it. But the hard drive lights, all nuts. I check the Perc card and all disks are sync'd and the host spare sits idle... all is well. Well not really, users are complaining about latency of disk again. I go ahead and stop ESXi and restart, the headlights are always crazy even if all the cards in ESXi and almost flatlined.
To give you an idea, the only two VM that is running is Debian 5 and Windows Server 2003, but the two don't show any major activity.
My question is this. ESXi repeats some type of garbage collection every so many hours?
Like when ESX planning time at the prompt, please allow the number of cores as vCPU is assigned for this period of time. In the comments, unless it is actually 100% on all CPU sees it runs idle thread [/ b] OS on carrots. That is why the whole machine capacity is reduced, because they are not available for the actual work by the other guests at that time there.
ESX has also a few CPU resources that is always related to base 0. It's a box of hearts, affecting more than 2vCPU to a guest means that ESX cannot work at the same time as this comments, not to mention any other guest (work like vSwitch, disc, developing code for execution etc etc).

Please give points for any helpful answer.

Re: Satellite L300-10 q - cannot install the recovery disk with XP SP2
Hello
My laptop started giving problems (slow start & suspended inbetween) so I tried to re-installation with installation disk but recovery whaile there ask lang. & confirmation of removal of data and after the installation of minutes collapsed & turn in DOS (X :) for admin.
When I restarted labtop it shows Bootmgr has failed.
So I contact customer Service & they replaced the HARD drive with new, but still the same problem.
I even tried to install XP SP2 after copying the files, it displays HARD drive not found.
Pls help
L300 - 10 q series
Pls advice also how to check Windows XP is 32 or 64 bit?
Thanks again
Alvares
If you try to install your laptop computer with the Microsoft installation disc, you need the SATA drivers. You can find it on the Toshiba site.
You must load the drivers of an external floppy drive or you integrate into a new CD with nLite (www.nliteos.com).For the recovery disc you n t need these drivers because they are already on the disk.
If you get the same problem with the recovery disk, you should check your disk with Drive Fitness Test (Google is your friend). -
How to unlock the encypted disk with Bitlocker on Windows 7 Home Premium?
Original title: bitlocker drive encryption
my family win7 premium has been automatically locked by bitlocker drive encryption. I wonder, because it is not available in the home premium. is this a virus? Please someone help me!
Hello
Thank you for asking. Let me ask you a few questions to better understand the issue.
1. have you changed the hard drive of the computer?
2. using any third-party disk encryption software?
3. what anti-virus software is installed on the computer?
4. do you get an error message when you try to access the hard disk?
I suggest that you run a full scan on the computer by using the Microsoft Safety Scanner and check if the computer is infected with the virus.
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx
Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.
If the problem persists, response to validate the results and we will be happy to help you.

Activation of the CS4 products with a CS6 series
I have a key to series CS6 but only a 32-bit PC. The trial of photoshop worked as CS4 and I guess I can use only the CS4 products because these requires 32-bit. I am aware that some CS6 products require 64-bit and I was wondering if I could use my series to activate the CS4 products. If so, then I can use the serial number completely.
Lol serial numbers are version specific. There is no way to activate the CS4 products with CS6 serials, but I don't see the problem, at least where the PS is concerned - Photoshop CS6 has a 32-bit version. Similalrly, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and InDesign are 32 bit / have a 32-bit version in CS6. Only video products such as first or After Effects require 64-bit. There is no way around that.

Removed the HARD disk with MBR/BCD who installed Vista x 64 Business on the new HARD drive
I have vista x 64 business installed on a HARD drive, but it was (and still is) installed on an older HDD aswell and the smallest, the result being that when I removed the old hard drive to put in another computer, I was unable to boot the copy of vista on the new HARD disk as the MBR or the BCD bit that allows me to choose what vista start is on the old HDD. Using the installation DVD I can get up the command prompt and run Bootrec.exe without the old HARD disk installed, which can find the vista installation, but fails to solve the problem. I'm not an expert so I can't properly use Bootrec.exe, and startup recovery also does not work, although it seems to say that something to do with the startup has been fixed. Is it possible that I can get the computer running without the old HDD without having to reinstall vista on the new hard drive? Currently, I put the old HARD return drive to start the new installation of vista.
When you move an old hard drive to a new computer, the installed operating system will find new hardware (motherboard, etc.).
A clean install is a normal requirement, as no drivers are installed for the new hardware on the operating system.
Thus, it will not start. How to do a clean install:
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

By using the quote delimiter with set off.
I have problems with the quote delimiter pick up the colon as a variable binding. For some reason any where there is a colon infront tick it break (ex. 2) but in (Exodus 3) he is behind the colon, it works perfectly.
set define off DECLARE s1 VARCHAR2(20); s2 VARCHAR2(20); s3 VARCHAR2(20); BEGIN s1 := 'Isn''t t:his cool'; --s2 := q'{Isn't th:is cool}'; s3 := q'{Isnt th:is co'ol}'; dbms_output.put_line(s1); dbms_output.put_line(s2); dbms_output.put_line(s3); END; /
In this case simply update your client. From your database in version 10 already, you must also use a client version 10.
9i and 10g client can be installed on a PC without a problem alnongside. It's just that the 10g client is installed with a little more subfolders. Maybe you have already installed and just continue to use the old client (old link?).
On a windows client system 10g would be in a structure like this: file://c:/oracle/product/10.2.0/client_1/bin
whereus 9i client is in: file://c:/oracle/ora92/bin

Install the new disk on Tecra M2
Hello
I have a laptop Tecra M2 HARD drive abandoned a year ago and served in a drawer since I'm keen to get it up and running again, but wonder if I should buy a HDD that is specific to use in it and what is involved?
My interpretation of it is that it's an IDE HDD that is needed, any 2.5 "IDE HDD off ebay will work or do I need to buy a specific brand, because they are not all in the United Kingdom listed for the M2.
If a generic IDE HDD will work in the laptop (like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HITACHI-30GB-IDE-ATA-PATA-2-5-LAPTOP-HARD-DRIVE-HDD_W0QQitemZ320332706439QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Com puting_HardDrives_RL? hash = item320332706439 & _trksid =p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1300|66%3A4|65%3A12|3 9% 3 a 1 | 3A 1318 240%) are additional media required or should he just fit into the laptop?
Then, once I inserted the HARD drive in the laptop computer and turned on, is there anything else necessary or should just be able to get to the top and running with a disc o/s?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Hello
You are right. Tecra M2 must 2.5 IDE HARD drive and you can use it on eBay, but if you must buy new HARD drive I recommend buying the HARD disk with the largest capacity supported. Tecra HDD supports 30 GB HARD drive; 40 GB; 60 GB; 80 GB capacity.
Tecra M2 is cute laptop and if you want to use it for a longer period of time buy 80 GB and be happy. You will have enough space to save a lot of different data.

Is it possible to have the NTFS partition with partition VMFS?
Hello
I am new to virtualization. I have read many planning our first server vmware coming in a few days. There are some issues that I haven't yet found an answer.
The new server will be DELL Poweredge 2950 III with double E5420 CPU, 8 GB of RAM, RAID PERC/6i material and some discs. I haven't decided on drives yet.
1. There will be 3 Windows 2008 servers and 2 or 3 linux servers running on them. The domain controller servers, file and print server, ISA 2006 Firewall, loading of SQL 2008 with very light, linux with Server mail server web linux.
We have just enough budget left to buy 2 pieces of 400 10,00 rpm for RAID-1 GB SAS drives or 3 pieces of 1 TB 7,200 rpm SATA to RAID-5 disks.
I need space as much as speed. We can add more drives in the future, but for now, I have to live with the initial configuration. I like the speed of the SAS, but capacity SATA drives seems very attractive. I have the choice to start with capacity of 300 GB SAS against 2 TB of SATA usable space. Can you comment on this please. Which do you prefer?
2. I'm not comfortable with the idea of keeping everything (OS, files,...) in one big file. Is it possible to be part of the disk space in DOS or NTFS partition on the same disk with the VMFS partition?
I can use this partition as common file storage. I also want to make backups to this separate partition so I can reach if vmware fails. We have no budget to buy a file based backup software yet. I'll use backup software image freewere to save images to a PC also.
Otherwise, I cannot live with SAS drives with limited disk space and can buy SATA drives in the future. Is - it possible to use the second SATA outside vmfs LUNs? Client operating systems can reach non-vmfs partitions on the same server? How can I achieve this?
This question may seem a bit strange, but any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Welcome to the VMware community forums.

I would assum that these are existing systems? If so, what kind of count of drive you have in the existing servers and what kind of load IO have currently? I would be worried to go with a 2 or 3 system disk and watch perhaps 4 * 146 GB 15 K SAS drives to start. Also ensure that the adapter RAID a write cache of battery backup it will significantly improve performance with ESXi.
2. I'm not comfortable with the idea of keeping everything (OS, files,...) in one big file. Is it possible to be part of the disk space in DOS or NTFS partition on the same disk with the VMFS partition?
VMFS is a disk rather than a single file format. It is designed to be reliable, and I would have more problems with the possibility of corrpution on an NTFS partition that I would with a VMFS partition.
I can use this partition as common file storage. I also want to make backups to this separate partition so I can reach if vmware fails. We have no budget to buy a file based backup software yet. You can create a table and then present it to a virtual machine as a SCSI device generic, but to have several virtual machines, access at the same time, you need to use in the cluster aware OSes. There are good backup script (free) that are available for ESXi and I suggest to store these backups on storage outside the ESXi host for security.

access all information on the hard disk for all users.
I tried to set up a link today from my new laptop computer Windows 7 my most top of desktop running vista. The liaison program stated that the administrator on my old computer was only a temporary user. I tried to set up the account as a permanent user without realizing that it would replace the current account. I have now no access to programs from hard drive of the main user I was using. I was wondering if there is anything I can do to access the hard disk with this user and import files? I forgot almost all programs appear on the computer but open to anything.
Hi kismet.
1. What do you mean by link program?
2. What have you tried to do?
3. how many accounts do you currently on the computer and what are they?
4. what happens when you try to access the files on the hard drive?
It seems that you do not have permissions to access the files on the hard drive.
I suggest that take you the files and folder try to access.
To take ownership of a folder
(a) right click on the folder you want to take control and then click Properties.
(b) click on the Security tab, click Advanced, and then click the owner tab.
(c) click on Edit. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
(d) click on the name of the person you want to give to the property.
(e) If you want that person to be the owner of the files and subfolders in this folder, select the check box Replace owner subcontainers and objects .
(f) click OK.
Troubleshoot "access denied" when opening files or folders
I hope this helps!

Choose the activity to the design of the synchronization
Hello
I have a bpel with 3 operations process. The service consumer can invoke any operation. For this I use Pick activity in the process bpel with 3 onMessage branches to receive input (Input and output message structures are different for each operation).
(1) the problem is I need to meet the output to the appellant to synchronously. But when I create the pick activity, I'm not able to create an output variable, even if the bpel process is sync. How do I answer back exit?
(2) how the wiring is also done between the partner link and choose acitvity in bpel process.
Note: as the structure of message output is different for each operation I can't place the response outside the pick activity activity, I need her to be inside the pick itself activity. Please suggest accordingly.
Thank youHi bpeltechie,
I guess you deleted the activity of "receiveInput" default of your bpel flow and then added the Pick activity.
The xsd process must contain three elements for the entrance and three for the output. For example process1Elem, process2Elem and process3Elem.
Define the message of type definitions in your process accordingly WSDL file define 3 operations for your process.
Then:
1. in the pick activity activate the indicator to create an Instance.
2. Add three branches of message.
3. in each branch, click the OnMessage and select your partner link (which includes 3 operations). The port type must be the same for the three branches, OnMessage and you should choose the operation on each branch.
4. in each OnMessage dialog box, create a variable, which is your input variable.
5. I suggest you create a scope in each branch.
6. as a final activity in each branch (or extended) add a response activity
7. click on the response activity and select your connection type and the port of partner (the same as the pick activity).
8. for each branch, select the response operation and create the variable. It's your output variable.
9. now, you have an output variable that you can assign in a previous action.About the wiring, it is identical to a flow normal synchronous bpel.

frequent blocking of 30-60 seconds with the solid disk activity
I have a problem when VMware Workstation locks for 30 to 60 seconds, with the solid disk activity. No reaction, even to things like no caps lock or num lock (virtual machine uses the keyboard extended; if I'm in the host, it shows the caps/numlock lights - i.e., VMware is busy and does not move the keyboard to the virtual machine, but does not lock the host)
Host and client are Windows XP SP2; I am running VMware Workstation 6.5.0 build 118166 (there is a newer version, but nothing in the release notes applicable looks to this)
Laptop has 4 GB of memory, 2 Ghz Core 2 Duo.
2 discs; system on a virtual machines on another (7200 RPM, 16meg cache)
I tested both S.M.A.R.T. drives - well within the parameters of "good".
I tried everything I can think with it - enabling/disabling virtual memory (XP) on the host or client, performance parameters, change the virtual computer's memory size, etc..
It happens sometimes strange - when I'm just typing (as in this sentence - it just did it) and is happening in the virtual machines that are different sizes of memory. It seems to happen in all virtual machines, regardless of their size of the memory. (I have VMs from 512megs upwards) It happens when I'm under VM only one or more - it seems worse when running more than one, but not linear. at the least not bad enough to keep me from running more than one. (I usually use only one or two virtual machines) It never happens if I am not under VMware. If I'm just under apps on the host.
It does not matter what applications I use in the client. Definition of VMware to keep everything in memory does not help. Disable the removal of pages of memory doesn't help. (which shouldn't matter if I run only 1 VM, would it?) Newspapers are disabled. I have configured VMware to use the maximum of the reserved memory (3456meg). There is no worse if I run apps in the host (usually just one editor, sometimes Firefox, sometimes Nero Burning Disc)
I am baffled by the latter. It seems to be deteriorating lately, but maybe it's just my annoyance level Crescent... I'm not sure; I think that way started when I went to this laptop, but I'm not sure.
Someone at - it ideas?
-Al Weiner-
Look over your logs, I see that you seem to have active VMware shared folders. VMware shared folders have all kinds of strange questions. Try to disable/turn off your VMware shared folders to see if that makes a difference.
