  Quick question: in the Swatches palette, it is possible to 'Add used colors' imported art. Is there also an option for "Add gradients used" in the palette as well? If this is not the case, this feature could be added to any future upgrade? It would be very convenient ;-)

  I can only manage to apply a gradient fill. In the tutorial it seems easy to simply draw a gradient, then draw another. However, it is not as simple as that. I draw a gradient, then I try to establish the second, and she runs just the first gradient.

• Problems with PS CS5 - cannot add a gradient layer transparent to a layer mask - please help

  My company has just upgraded us to cs5 on our macs. I've been working along in photoshop and do not know if I hit something inadvertently or what, but all of a sudden I can't add a black transparent gradient to a layer mask. Ive searched autour similarly saved out and reloaded the gradients of my pc (which has the black to transparent gradient in the gradient editor & the process works very well).

  Funny is that in the mac gradient selector, black to transparent gradient is black and solid white, but the name of it is 'transparent black' in the editor. Ive tried

  I guess my questions would be how could you make a transparent gradient, or how would call a zero gradients by default because every time I have remove all the gradients to add a new file .grd of my pc, it shows not yet degraded.

  Its amazing how such a small thing like this allows saving a lot of time and feeding me I can not get this to work

  Try trashing the preferences file. (Hold down shift + Option + command keys as you launch Photoshop. You will have a small OK box delete your preferences file)

• How can I add a gradient to a layer mask to counter a gradual change in the tone of one end of one photo to another?

  I swear I have go nutso.  I have a photo taken with a pretty extreme move of 10mm of a shift lens, which therefore has a gradual darkening towards the top of the photo.  No problem, don't tell me.  I just added a mask layer, click on the gradient tool and drew a line (in a good way) with this tool.  What I received was a transparent area at the black end (of the gradient applied to the mask) ranking to the darkest part of the image showing through to the other end (of the gradient).

  I've done it before and done the above, instinctively, so I thought that I was doing this right.  When it did not work, I tried applying the mask and the gradient to a duplicate background layer, and then flatten the image. Nada.

  Jees.  Something incorrectly? An other than normal blending mode?  I even checked with a CS6 by Martin Evening guide, which seems to be able to do exactly what I wanted without any problem.

  Or... maybe I 'm going nutso :).

  Normal blending mode is correct. Suppose I want to clear up a segment of heaven in image1. Dupe of image and lighten it. It's the Image 2. I exaggerated the relief much here to make it more obvious to you. Please forgive me. Normally the lightning could be more nuanced. The gradient mask attached to the Image 2 starts at the top of the tail of the plane - not the whole image. The result is image 4. Maybe your success is due to the slope not starting and ending in the appropriate box. Note the gradient is black and white.

  In CS5, I want to create shapes with the rectangle shape layers tool. I want them to appear as if they are on the top. In Illustrator, I do this by creating a gradient from left to right and I enter-90 in the angle field and drag the gradient from top to bottom on the form. I am unable to do this in Photoshop. How can I do this? It won't let me apply the gradient to the shape.

  I am trying to surpass me here, I want to create a copy of each gradient in the active document and give it a name like "Batman 1" "Batman 2" ect.

  I can add new gradients and together as their stop ect but I can't figure out how to create a perfect copy of the gradient in the library of shades of color.

  Did someone knows if this is even possible?

  I have been looking and the only thing I found which approximates to an older script which is only compatible with CS.   It has been a very busy week for me, but I kept working on it. As I continued working on what I needed, wanted this evolved and new number of gradients created is based on the number of stops in the copied original gradient (so if you have a gradient of four judgment this will create four copies.)

  Note that I do not entirely on mine so I credit my friend Dan here for all his hard work and effort to help me with this.

  I try to add a gradient (in the sense not that fill forms) from one side to the other in the scheduled work. When you try to add this gradient, Illustrator adds a gradient to each line individually. I want a gradient caused to the piece as a whole. I tried to object > path > junction to work as one. However, it adds more random lines at work, destroy the work.

  Julia,

  Maybe a silly suggestion, but you can (assuming that black work):

  (1) create one object (rectangle or other) background extending beyond the work and apply the desired gradient

  (2) group work if not already;

  (3) select, then in the transparency palette dialog box click the opacity with Clip mask and mask invert checked.

  Fully reversible and adjustable, a simple change in appearance of the work.

  I searched on the internet in vain for a solution to this bug. It is completely that hinder my creative process as it appears in each file, that I opened. I'm under Illustrator CC 2015.3 on Windows 8.1.

  I can add a gradient, and when I try to change it via the cursor in the gradient panel, no update is made to the object on the first fit (even if it is enabled) and the second adjustment, trying to cause the graphics cursor and all setting points to disappear! There is nothing unique about my items. I tried to make the transparent tracks, paths not composed them, expanding copy them into a new file, creating new art from scratch, etc.. I also tried to enter new samples on the slider and by removing existing ones, but once I did click, the second click quite disappear. Nothing seems to work, and that he poses a serious question that I regularly use gradients! I also tried to upgrade to the latest version of Illustrator (2015.3), but there has been no change. I tried the CMYK and RGB mode to see if that was a problem, but no change.

  Also, I can't the gradient bar itself appears above the object, even if I give myself the opportunity to hide in the view menu (which means that it must be visible).

  It is a problem I've had in the past on other machines running Illustrator, but not all. It doesn't seem to affect CS5 on my Mac, or 10 operating system of my computer at home Windows running Illustrator CC.

  Need help please, there is a serious bug!

  So I reset my preferences then Illustrator will not open. He gave me the ability to run diagnostics, which I did, and Illustrator then determined my plugin Cutting Master 3 was the problem and he ran in safe mode with disabled. I deleted the plugin in the plugins via the Explorer folder and opened Illustrator.

  The question of gradient had disappeared.

  I reinstalled the plugin, and returned the degraded matter. I guess that means it is a problem with cutting Master 3, although I never had this problem on this machine until this week. I've been using the Gradient slider AND plugin for the last 4 months with no problems!

• Cannot add gradient to the sphere of shape and can not copy and paste into Photoshop?

  I just want to add a gradient to the circles of my calendar.  Still the same window appears saying that it is not directly editable. Any reason why the step does not work? Another concern is that forms don't simply copy a paste in photoshop as they usually do in other adobe software, it feels like a layer must be included to add or delete anything. How can I do the whole copy and paste in photoshop easier for me that I am new to it?  Any help would be appreciated, thank you!

  Click on Go-> Go to folder

  Type ~/library

  Click OK

  Inside the library folder, you will find a folder with name preferences.

  Open this folder

  Inside this folder, you'll find another folder named Photoshop CC 2015 parameters

  Rename this folder in 2015 CC Photoshop settings_old.

  Open Photoshop and try again.

  I need help. My task sounds simple enough but do not know how to accomplish it.

  I created the following path in Illustrator (see image - the top one). Actually, it is a graph of the lower third.

  I managed to importating in .ai. However, should I use a solid or a layer of shape or it doesn't matter?

  I can add a stroke that affects the color and the thickness of the outlines OK.

  However, I can't understand how to add a gradient fill, or one that is 50% transparent? Can anyone help?

  Oh... I will mention that I use After Effects CS3.

  Looks like you're a real novice in Illustrator. I create the entire work in Illustrator and import the AI as a composition. Put each item on a separate layer.

  Take your form and complete with a gradient. Check the appearance and adjust the opacity. Duplicate the shape and caress the first Folio and remove the gradient. Adjust the opacity of the stroke (if you wish) using appearance.

  If you don't know how to make this go a Google search for Assembly of the Illustrator Gradients. You can take a look at this Basic Intro to the Illustrator Gradients to Layers Magazine.

  The cause of the issue is the USE_ALL_HEIGHT with a VerticalFieldManager style.  This creates a very long Manager.  Result is that the gradient are touching on an area as large as the first screens together appear black.  Remove this style and you should see that it displays properly.

  You can add the gradient at the level of the screen to a screen with the USE_ALL_HEIGHT style to work around this problem.  An example that does something similar can be found here (it uses a solid color and the border instead of a gradient):
