Add files without extension to index

How can I add a file type to the search index for the files that have actually no extension? For example, how a filter of plain text for files named README?

UNIX Gets information about the file type in the file itself, something that Windows is barely able with some improvements in NTFS, but is very rarely used.  True, Windows isn't Unix and there is no way to index a file without an extension.

  • How to associate a default program for files without extension?

I work with files of Linux a lot on my Windows 7, and it does not give me an option to associate a program with files without extensions. For example, I'm going to open a file called "config" and Windows prompts me to choose a program to open it with, but "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" is greyed out. Since I use a third-party editor (Notepad ++) which analyzes correctly Linux line breaks, I want files with extensions not always open with this program. Is it still possible?

Until a few days ago, I was able to rename pdf files without having to type the .pdf extension after the new name. None of the files showed the extension .pdf on the desktop. • How to open files without extension in design mode

I had to remove the extension .htm files html of my site, the problem is that now that dreamweaver doesn´t allow me to open the file in design mode.

The files contain the HTML without errors.

All web files must have an extension to file appropriate - either .htm, .html, .shtm, .shtml, .php or .asp.  That's how the web works.

I am not fond to organize pages in its own subfolder.  I think it is counterproductive and is confusing with all those index pages.  But it is an example of how you will organize your site.

  • files without extension .html, how to get Dreamweaver to help

I've recreated my site so that files either use a .html extensions. Instead of saying "... surf.html"is now"... / surfing '." Now I need Dreamweaver to support this change.

I came across a few cases where I see that Dreamweaver is not happy with that. If I changed the name of a file in the past, he would ask if I wanted to update all files referencing this link, but it is more requested it.

Also I can no longer use the arrow in the properties to drag a file in the files window because HTML will automatically be added to post a link in the source code.

  • Files without extensions FH

Can someone help me understand how to open Freehand files in Freehand MX after receiving them via ftp transfer. They have not provided extensions with them and tried to add extensions that I remembered from previous versions nothing doesn't. • Publish error - creates the empty file without extension

    Hello world

I have trouble publishing a project. Basically, what happens is that when I publish to SWF, I have 3 files: a Javascript file, a SWF file, then an empty file with file extensions. I use Captivate 5 on XP and I update yesterday, so I don't know that I have installed the latest patch. I deleted my Captivate cache and deleted the Captivate Preferences folder, but that did not help.

Everyone knows this? Can I publish earlier versions of this project, which leads me to believe that the file has become corrupt when I added audio. Any ideas? Should I just cut my losses and go back to an earlier version?

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

Just in case someone else has a similar problem, here is what Adobe has done to resolve the issue:

    Remove the custom skin

    Use the default Skin

    Remove the Table of contents

    Change file name

I found the solution... all I had to do was manually add the ".exe" file name extension, and I was able to run the Setup program. I'm surprised that it worked... I really thought that there was a problem with the file.

I'm trying to restore files backed up from another computer (also using WIndows 8) using Windows 7 file recovery. During the restore process, I get the following errors for a subset of files:

How to restore files without extension also successfully?

    Kind regards, Andreas

I found this on a forum HP-do not know why the person of Microsoft is to not be suggested (perhaps one of you admins can come up with reasons why it is a bad idea)

Launch the command line and enter the following command to enable/disable the registry value to enable long name creation:
    behavior fsutil set disable8dot3 0

That worked for me and allowed me to pull from a backup I did a disc in my laptop to a disk in my desktop-computer laptop running Win7Pro, office runs Win8.
This is a directory of work files that I needed to use my laptop for repair while.
  • Add keywords/location/description to a file without Photos app?

Idea is I add all this information in a file, so that later it will be easy for me to find the exact file I want. Problem, is if I am doing this in pictures, I can't browse the files using the finder (that I intend to do), or, if I export images updated the they gain weight that is not related to what the new info. The file size isn't really a problem, there is the ' is not exactly the same that I imported before "makes me mad.

So, I'm looking for ways to add any additional information that may add Photos, without actually using this application. If there is no third party option don't mind using terminal or any other manual method to change the info.

If you want to manage your photos in the Finder, you can add Tags to categorize: macOS Sierra: use tags to organize files

However, who would not "embed" tags in the file. The only way to do this would be to modify the EXIF data, but I'm not sure that there is the "Keyword" field in the EXIF data. It would be too simple search EXIF data.

or, if I export images updated the they gain weight that is not related to what the new info. The file size isn't really a problem, there is the ' is not exactly the same that I imported before "makes me mad.

Photos (iPhoto and) do not change the original files. They create a copy and allow you to modify this copy so that Moose remains intact. If you wish, you can 'Export the Unmodified Original'.

The editing pane's will return to Original button.

If you want to delete the original image, after changes, you would have to duplicate an image, then delete the 'original '.

  • Add a file to another file without reading actually in memory.

    Hello

I want to add a file to another file without actually reading the first file in memory and writes at the end of the other file.

I mean it needs to be a way (for Windows of course) to do from a CPP code.

Just like the CreateLinkFile() API maps two file in the block internal memory, is it possible, an API that will card internal two files, one after the other, and that won't be visible in a single file from the outside to the user?

The client we work for requires that the two files should be merged into one without overloads of read/write file (Performance is the primary concern).

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

  • Is it possible to add files to a package without repackaging into a new folder?

So, I'm working on this promotional package for a company. I work a stretch including photos and so on. Anyway, I got up to a certain point with a section and all packed so I could start the next day.

My question is this: is there a way for me to add files to the InDesign file, I already packed WITHOUT having to repackage in a new folder and archives?

I want to say it seems fair that I SHOULD be able to select the option package and work would repackage/update the package, much like would do it a Word file when you select the record button.

(And if it does not exist, someone is at Adobe paying attention that it could be a possibility? "It would be fantastic).

You can add images to your package using the submenu links Panel (top-right) and choose Utilities > copy the links to...

And you can select the images you want first - or don't select None to copy them all.

    Fonts - not so much.

But it's an easy way to get new images in your packaged file.

But I don't like this to be honest. I'd rather far to create a new Package and call it 'Version 2' or 'Last work' or something that is just out of your file naming convention.

  • Is there a way to load the Fax without the OS Indexing Services

I have Windows XP Pro, indexing of fax services were not loaded with the operating system load.  Is there another way to get the components of Windows? I don't have the CD of the OS.

I don't know what are the indexing of fax services, but if you try to install the XP Fax service and that you don't have an XP bootable installation CD authentic and installation asks for files that you do not have, I think I have all the required files to install the XP Fax Services brought together in a zip on my SkyDrive.

The name of the ZIP on my SkyDrive file is:

    XPFax.zip

You can download it and when you do, unzip it to a folder on your system and that you install the Services of Fax of XP and he needs a file (s), it points to the folder where you have unzipped the XPFax.zip file for installation to find the files, he needs.

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:

    https://SkyDrive.live.com/?CID=6a7e789cab1d6f39&ID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you can not see the file extension (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc.), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

When you download the file (especially if you use Internet Explorer), when you get a chance to save the file, your browser is unable to save the file with an extension (by example, .exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, .zip, etc) then you will need to manually add the extension appropriate to the file when you download the file before you save it.

You can download the file without the extension, and then rename the file to add the appropriate extension.  You do not want to use a file called XPfax when the name of the file should really be called XPfax.zip (if the downloaded file has no extension, you will need to change the name of the file to add the appropriate extension to make it work.

  • Direct mail adds underscore to extension of Word, i.e. docx becomes _docx

Direct mail adds underscore to extension of Word, i.e. docx becomes _docx recipient can't open the document without save and rename.

Direct mail add underscore to extension of Word...

I think that if you look closely, the name given in the message source file actually contains more than one point (period, full stop, '.'). Because this used to be a problem in certain situations, at the time where alone was allowed in filenames, Windows, Windows Live Mail useful converted one of them into an underscore character (underscore, "_"). Unfortunately, it converts the bad, so instead of change of oldletter... docx to oldletter_.docx, he transformed it into oldletter._docx

The obvious way to deal with this is to use the function "save attachments" to Save as, taking advantage of the opportunity to correct the file name.

Another way to deal with it is to save the file with its current extension, undefined, ._docx, say, then use Open with from the Explorer to select the word to open the file with and always use this program to open this type of file.

Often, the problem is because users allow programs select file names. Word, for example, will take the first line of a document or part as its file name suggested; If this is is be a title or a title that ends with a period, and then that dot will be included before the extension point is added.

No amount of repair installation or uninstallation and reinstallation will have any effect on this flaw.
