• Captivate 5 gel problem trying to add subtitles to the video

  Hi there-

  I try to add subtitles to a video (.f4v) I inserted as "Video Slide" on a slide in a presentation of Adobe® Captivate® 5.  I click on the video to select, go to the properties panel, select 'Edit video synchronization' and then click on the Panel of captioning to try to add captions and then Captivate completely freezes and crashes so not only can I not to add captions to video, but I have to use the Windows Task Manager close.

  I've seen this process shows a tutorial from Lynda.com, and the instructor doesn't seem to have this problem with Captivate 5.

  Any thoughts?  Other users have found a work around at all?  I mean, I know I could audio from the video, then attach it to the slide and make the captioning in this way, but it would be much easier (and much more logical) to add it directly to video, especially since that's what you are supposed to be able to do.

  I use Captivate 5 on Windows 7.  I also have Captivate 5 on a personal Macintosh and you have not yet tried to see if the problem occurs on this platform, as well.  Has anyone experience this problem?  Sorry for the length - this is my first forum of validation, so I'll try to provide as much information as possible.

  Welcome to Adobe Captivate Forums.

  You can try to add the subtitles to the video after the removal of the preferences.

  Follow these steps to remove preferences

  1. close Captivate so momentum already

  2. go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Adobe

  3. find a folder named "Captivate 5.

  4 delete the folder

  5. now launch Captivate and try your workflow

  Let us know if this solved the problem.

  Well, you can add titles and subtitles for your original videos, of course. But optional subtitles that you can turn on/off your DVD playback is not a feature of Premiere Elements or virtually any system I know of DVD authoring not pro.

  The reason why you don't see any subtitles on the video, it's that it doesn't have everything. I'm sorry, it does not have this capability. There are a number of YouTube on Adobe TV videos without subtitles.

  You can indicate which videos have subtitles by searching for a 'CC' button at the bottom right of the video window.

  It can be possible to place the PDF document (instead of copy text) in Photoshop, then save PSD files with transparent background for each page of subtitles.

  Sorry about the alarmist title.   I'm in a bit of a lack of time, here on a (video) application for a dream job so any help is greatly appreciated.

  I am trying to add a 'book' on my video.  The installation would be a picture-in-picture (or more accurately, a video-to-video), much as a presenter would use on the evening news - with a picture to their left or right.  In my case, I want the image is a video animation of a research paper, as I did, with animation being your standard "page turn" effect as if the person reading the paper size.

  Is there a way to do this in Adobe Premiere Elements itself?  I have no copies from the effects, etc, so if it is not possible is there a free alternative?

  There is a Transition to turn page, which should you close.

  In the PiP function, you can use the corner Pin effect (think PrE has that?), to locate your PiP (on video track above the graph "book"), to match the apparent angle and also the scale and Position. If you have the 'book' in a point of view, all you need is the fixed effects > Motion > scale and Motion > Position. That's assuming you have done all cultures, etc., for your still images, say PES/PS in the opposite case, you would need to look at using a track matte key, but by preparation in an image editing program, you will save yourself work pre.

The audio is in a language other than English, but there are English subtitles available. If I play the file in Windows Media Center or Windows Movie Maker, and then present subtitles, but in Windows Media Player, subtitles are not. I activated the option of subtitles (play > lyrics, captions and subtitles > on) but still no results. I use software different media if necessary, but my favorite is WMP and prefer to use it.   I understand how to add a subtitle - enabled to see Closed captioning, but it does not appear on the preview screen.  It WAS, but now is not.  What have I done wrong?

  A screenshot can help diagnose the problem. Please make sure that all the following conditions are visible:

  • the track of legend in the timeline, expanded to show blocks of legend.
  • the Panel of legends
  • the program monitor, ideally using the subtitles displayed.
  • the display settings dialog box closed and closed captioning

• How to convert timed discourse analysis in subtitles for the video?

  I used the analysis of discourse in the metadata tab video in first CC 7.2.1.  I used a full transcript and the timing is perfect between what means the talent and the words in the box "analysis" on the metadata tab.  So, how can I make this text synchronized in a legend for my video file?  I'd love to export it to a file of sidecar legend (SRT format is preferred, but I'll take anything at this point) but have not found a way to do it.

  What I am doing wrong?  What I put into Adobe Story for this to work?

  Side note: is incredibly slow to Adobe Story for someone else?
