Add SSD to Mac early 2007?

I have a Mac in early 2007, Quad 2 x 2.8, with 22 GB of RAM, OS 10.8.5.  I use the computer mainly for work in Photoshop and Lightroom.  It does a decent job, but I certainly have the experience of waiting with some process times.  I upped the RAM and that seemed to help, but I wonder if changing the internal hard drive out for one SSD would produce a significant improvement in the system.  I would like to be the next generation of MacPro before I jump to a new system.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Yes, an SSD to accelerate your Mac.

You can get an adoptive parent so that you can use an SSD in one of the four sleds HD.

You can also get a cards PCLe who will accept a standard 2 1/2 inch SSD or a faster blade SSD

  • Help me. Why recovery.txt and Python27 in C after I sent my ACER VN7 - 591 G-77FH to add ssd?

I brought my pc (ACER VN7 - 591 G-77FH) to ACER in order to make it add ssd, check the pc for heating with w10 and usb ports. They said initially they would format the HDD (1 TB) and I would lose my data. I said 'ok '.

Today I went to ACER to get my pc and the guy at the front desk told me that they cleaned the fans and that the problem with my usb ports is software, so that they had to reinstall the operating system.  More, he told me they did a system restore. I asked him what he meant with "recovery", but he did not explain very well (I thought that it was not a pc technician) and told me that they formatted the hard drive and installed the operating system on the ssd.

When I came back home, I turned on my computer and I had to set it up. A configuration screen acer appeared and then w8.1 supposed to be configured with my mail, number mobile password etc....

When I walked into my account, I noticed that in C there is two things:

    (1) there is a txt file named recovery which is empty

    2) there is a folder named Python27 (na not they remove it?) Why?). It looks weird because there are some files (11/03/2016) in date from (tomorrow), while NEWS, LICENSE, python and pythonw are as of 12/05/2015, finally README is dated from 21/11/2015

    So... What did do?

I tried to install w10 from usb to reset everything, but when I start it up, there is only the Boot Manager Windows (Crucial 500blah blah blah blah) in the start menu...

    What can I do?

    Help me

Since you're still running windows 8.1, I suggest you create a recovery media using Acer recovery tool.
Once this is done, you can delete all the partitions on the unit 0 and do a 10 windows clean install.

  • Add SSD to EFI boot

    Hello

I just got my HPE Pavillio h8-1320 and a SSD drive shipped separately so that the OS on the SSD instead of HARD drive included.

After some fiddling, I managed to install the OS on my SSD-, but also want to keep it on the HARD drive as preinstalled for awhile.

Problem is that I'm not able to get the pc to boot from SSD without forcing from the BIOS (i.e. the menu setup at boot)

I found the "problem" with the EFI - what is totally new to me

SO the question is - how can I add my new SSD to the EFI stuff?

I read on the EFI Boot Manager, which seems to be an interface for editing - but where is it is, or not at all?

With regard to UEFI / EFI I am a newbie, to get detailed instructions are needed...

    -pw-

Recovery discs were burned on the original HARD disk recovery partition, but these were of no use to me. None of them are identified as OS disk - they are labelled only 1 to 5 - and I have no idea how to do to actually retrieve anything using them. None (?) of the DVD recovery are bootable, which means I can't use them on a fresh SSD (at least I can't figure out how)

Software image used cloning EasyUS Partition Master Home/Free version 9.1.1, which is well spoken from around the internet. EasyUS have served me much earlier then fiddling around with partitions

In any case: I spent a few hours last night in a final (?) attempt.

Here is my solution, which seems to work.

Note! This solution requires a bootable Win7 DVD

I started with both my original HDD and my new SSD connected.

Boot from the HARD drive (with functional operating system)

EasyUS Partition Master to remove all partitions on my SSD and set GPT disk type

Stop PC, disconnect the HARD disk (swapped taken SATA SSD where the HARD drive was (probably not necessary - but I did))

    Insert the Win7 DVD

Start the PC, press ESC to access the menu, select UEFI DVD-rom as an alternative of boot (important because no UEFI will not install on a GPT disk)

Whwn installation asks where install (disc) (and give warning that Windows cannot be installed on the SSD) press SHIFT + F10 for the command prompt

    Type DISKPART

    Type LIST DISK

Type SELECT DISK n (where n is the number of the SSD)

Type CREATE PARTITION EFI SIZE = 102

Type CREATE PARTITION MSR SIZE = 32

    Type CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY

    OUTPUT type

    OUTPUT type

You are now at the windows installation, press refresh to update the disk information, and you will see the new created partitions

Select the primary partition for installing Win7

Complete the Win7 installation as usual

    Stop PC

Connect the original HARD drive to SATA-socket

Reboot the PC and crossed our fingers to fix the OS to start (fact OK with me9

(If 'old' OS (HDD) boots, stop PC, reboot, press ESC, then select SSD (or most likely) under the UEFI boot options)

This IS - the SSD and HDD are now running in a UEFI interface

Missing system drivers on SSD OS are found on the HARD drive

When all drivers are migrated, OS HARD disk partition can be wiped and HARD drive can be used for data

For one SSD optimized operation, check that the FITTINGS and disk defragmentation are set properly (many articles on internet)

Now, finally, I'am a happy camper!

  • retina failure SSD MacBook Pro early 2013

Since a few weeks, my MacBook Pro 10.1 (beginning 2013) retina a 512 GB SSD running the Mavericks has been sporadically crashing.  The disk has been partitioned, with a Mac OS X partition and a BootCamp partition.  An accident resulted in my default Mac partition.  DiskUtility told me that the volume cannot be repaired and back up my data as soon as POSSIBLE.  I managed to get everything on the Mac OS X partition.  The BootCamp partition seemed ok.  I checked the data verified S.M.A.R.T. ok.  I reformatted the Mac OS X partition.  Everything worked well for a few weeks, and then the accident began.  I took this as a problem of BONE rather than a hardware problem.  Today, the Mac crashed again and I forced a restart.  In other words, I tried to force a restart, but the drive didn't completely this time.

The time has come when you'll thank who bought AppleCare...

    Hello

Yes, you can clone your current HARD drive to your new SSD, install new SSD on your computer and run it from there. Please note:

(un) Normally smaller SSD (2.5 "vs 3.5") so you need a kit of mounting for her, including the following:

    http://www.eBay.com/Sch/i.html?_sacat=0 & _nkw=2.5%22+to+3.5%22+Mounting+adapter+bracket+SSD & _sac = 1

    (b) when cloning, you may need to select only the OS drive, otherwise it does not unless you have the (larger) SSD. There are many free around software

    http://www.TechRepublic.com/blog/five-apps/five-free-and-reliable-cloning-tools/

and you can also get a kit of cloning of seller for around $10-$15.

I look forward to your feedback soon.

    Hello

The SSD should be compatible you need to use a SATA SSD drive since the phone supports a SATA controller
In some cases an update firmware of SSD may be necessary, but this info should be provided by the manufacturers of SSD drives.

  • Add SSD to question dv7t-7300 HP Envy.

I ordered a custom of dv7t-7300 HP Envy. I want to add an SSD, something along the lines of an SSD of 7.5 mm. I just need to know a few things.

    (1) given that the computer just that with a HARD drive (depending on configuration), is the second drive Bay hard to a 'HARD drive enclosure? And if so, should be 7.5 mm 2.5-inch SSD, or it must be a 9.5 mm SSD?

    (2) if the caddy is not included, where can I get one? And should it be a basket, or is it implemented different now?

Any other information you can provide would be great! Thank you.

Nothing like that self-help. Return it. On the back of it is a large "T" plate shaped. Remove the screws, pull it out and look inside. You have two hard drive bays. Are all dv7s to dual hard drives, but the method to connect readers varies a little.

    Manual

See instructions starting on Page 49 of the above link Sevice manual.

An SSD will work in each Bay. I would use the SSD as drive for the operating system to take advantage of the speed of the thing, which is really amazing to see the first time you see it. There is also a place for a WSSD, but there is no need of a GSU if you use an SSD as your primary drive. Still if you want uberstorage you could spend a ton and purchase a 256 GB WSSD and have actually three usable discs.

Older versions of Windows offer a product key to activate Windows (as it is written on a sticker COST or built-in BIOS/UEFI).

Windows 10 offers another option, called right digital.

Probably, you had older versions of Windows and free upgrade to win 10. In order to keep your old version keys active Windows, Microsoft enabled Windows 10 using the new method. Win 10 has been activated using Windows 7 or 8 button, then this key would have been valid for the 2 versions of Windows (which is impossible).

More information about this new option:

Maybe you can get temporary, the computer HARD disk and reinstall Windows on the SSD drive. Then you can insert the HDD tray in and when everything is ready, you can format the HARD drive and use it as an extra.

If your computer came with Windows 8.1 or 7 preinstalled and later upgraded to Windows 10, you can use the recovery media to install the previous edition of Windows, and then upgrade to Windows 10

Alternatively, you can try to clone your disk SSD using a software like Clonezilla:
