Add SSD to question dv7t-7300 HP Envy.

I ordered a custom of dv7t-7300 HP Envy. I want to add an SSD, something along the lines of an SSD of 7.5 mm. I just need to know a few things.

(1) given that the computer just that with a HARD drive (depending on configuration), is the second drive Bay hard to a 'HARD drive enclosure? And if so, should be 7.5 mm 2.5-inch SSD, or it must be a 9.5 mm SSD?

(2) if the caddy is not included, where can I get one? And should it be a basket, or is it implemented different now?

Any other information you can provide would be great! Thank you.

Nothing like that self-help. Return it. On the back of it is a large "T" plate shaped. Remove the screws, pull it out and look inside. You have two hard drive bays. Are all dv7s to dual hard drives, but the method to connect readers varies a little.

Manual

See instructions starting on Page 49 of the above link Sevice manual.

An SSD will work in each Bay. I would use the SSD as drive for the operating system to take advantage of the speed of the thing, which is really amazing to see the first time you see it. There is also a place for a WSSD, but there is no need of a GSU if you use an SSD as your primary drive. Still if you want uberstorage you could spend a ton and purchase a 256 GB WSSD and have actually three usable discs.

  • HP ENVY dv7t-7300 CTO Quad Edi: what part of replacement fan that I get for my laptop? Memory discrete or UMA?

Hello, I have problems finding the right replacement for my hp laptop part. I have a laptop that needs to have his replaced fan/radiator. The laptop is the HP ENVY laptop dv7t-7300 CTO Quad Edition. I went online and find the service manual for the computer to find the spare part. There was a list of spare parts for the different variants of models.

The results of narrowed it down in 2 results for spare parts. A fan/radiator was for a graphics subsystem with discrete memory and the other fan/radiator for a graphics system with memory UMA. I don't know which one is for my computer, could you please help clarify? The part 682061-001 or 682060-001 part?

    Model No.: dv7t-7300

    Product #: C2Y65AV

    [Personal information]

    Hello

No, I'm talking about Device Manager. Hope that the sticker is good then your machine's discreet graphics because:

    • The UMA version applies to the motherboard that does not have a separate dedicated graphics chip. On this version, the graphics processing is managed by the North bridge chipset.
    • The discreet version applies to the motherboard with a separate chip to achieve all the graphics processors.

Based on the sticker, your machine has NVIDIA GEFORCE GT M 635

Yes, you can try the BIOS. Sorry I don't know it will work or not because I have not tested. Please note: you need a SATA cables (and maybe a shopping cart) to use the second span on your machine DV7T:

  • No AHCI? Samsung 840 Pro? HP Dv7t-7300

Hey guys, I noticed today that by virtue of the HP BIOS options is an AHCI option. They don't let you change to all modes. I have a HP Dv7t - 7300 laptop. I bought a new SSD for performance gains, but I was wondering will I get full use out of it. At first I was getting really good at reading and writing speeds, but it slowed to about 300 now. Does anyone know if I should just leave it as what or try to configure for optimal performance. In Device Manager, I see only a driver who says RAID SATA AHCI not. I have attached the photos below. The old hard drive is now always in the laptop but on the second SATA port. The magician of Samsung software also tells me that AHCI is not active. Is this normal for the SSD performance fluctuations?

The BIOS in double bay dv7 models is not set to RAID, AHCI, and cannot be changed. But don't worry it is ahci compatible RAID. Files of native and other functions necessary to support an SSD are present. I would be not too wrapped in reference SSD speeds. 300 Mbps is very fast. How does it feel?

  • Help me. Why recovery.txt and Python27 in C after I sent my ACER VN7 - 591 G-77FH to add ssd?

I brought my pc (ACER VN7 - 591 G-77FH) to ACER in order to make it add ssd, check the pc for heating with w10 and usb ports. They said initially they would format the HDD (1 TB) and I would lose my data. I said 'ok '.

Today I went to ACER to get my pc and the guy at the front desk told me that they cleaned the fans and that the problem with my usb ports is software, so that they had to reinstall the operating system.  More, he told me they did a system restore. I asked him what he meant with "recovery", but he did not explain very well (I thought that it was not a pc technician) and told me that they formatted the hard drive and installed the operating system on the ssd.

When I came back home, I turned on my computer and I had to set it up. A configuration screen acer appeared and then w8.1 supposed to be configured with my mail, number mobile password etc....

When I walked into my account, I noticed that in C there is two things:

    (1) there is a txt file named recovery which is empty

    2) there is a folder named Python27 (na not they remove it?) Why?). It looks weird because there are some files (11/03/2016) in date from (tomorrow), while NEWS, LICENSE, python and pythonw are as of 12/05/2015, finally README is dated from 21/11/2015

    So... What did do?

I tried to install w10 from usb to reset everything, but when I start it up, there is only the Boot Manager Windows (Crucial 500blah blah blah blah) in the start menu...

    What can I do?

    Help me

Since you're still running windows 8.1, I suggest you create a recovery media using Acer recovery tool.
Once this is done, you can delete all the partitions on the unit 0 and do a 10 windows clean install.

  • dv7t 7300

Does HP have, or give a CD of driver that supports Windows 7 to my laptop, series CTO dv7t-7300, or will be HP

support to convert my laptop for windows 7?   I understand that a cost is involved.    I already have very

a copy of Windows 7 Pro.Windows 8 is terrible and should not have been offered on a Non touchscreen laptop.

When you request support, please provide the product full of HP computer in issue number. HP/Compaq made thousands of computer models. Without this information, it can be difficult, even impossible to help you solve your problem.

The information requested above are at the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. , Please do not include your serial number.

    WARNING *.

HP does not recommend installing Windows 7 on a computer comes with Windows 8, and it will support the installation of Windows 7. HP doesn't provide drivers for Windows 7 and the appropriate drivers are not available for the hardware in the computer. In addition, Windows 7 can not take in charge some of the hardware or software designed for the computer.

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

    You should ENABLE 'Secure Boot' and maybe 'Legacy Support' in the 'BIOS Setup boot secured' on the settings page below, before you try to install Windows 7;

In addition, as the hard drive is partitioned as TPG, you must start the computer by using the "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" in the start menu "F9". If "UEFI - CD/DVD drive" or something to that effect does not exist in the start menu, please post a screenshot and/or make startup listed options.

I suggest to use a disc of Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If you need a Windows SP1, see 'How to install Windows 7 without the disc' to download and create your own. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please download the Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool to create a Windows 7 SP1 USB Flash drive.

For your model, HP seems to provide that drivers of Windows 8. Most of the Windows 7 driver for the page of CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook PC drivers HP Pavilion dv7t-7000 should work on your computer from HP dv6t-7300.

    If you have missing or unknown devices after installing the drivers above, thanks for posting the "Hardware ID" Device Manager for devices as shown below;

  • Envy 17-n100nl: Envy 17-n100nl disassemble to add ssd

    Hello world

I just bought an HP ENVY 17-n100nl laptop, and I wanted to update to add a SSD memory. I know that it is possible to add it instead of the appropriate optical unit with the caddy, but I saw that another possibility would be to add to the second internal drive Bay. I'm having some trouble of disassembly of the pc: as you can see in the photo, the lower part of the PC is a continuous part (unlike many other portable HP where RAM and HARD drive are easy access) and even without caps base left and right (unlike the other Envy 17 I found instructions how to disasseble http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/globalcitizenship/environment/productdata/Countries/_MultiCountry/disassemb... So my question is: How can I do? Are there instructions from HP (I looked in this page http://www.hp.com/hpinfo/globalcitizenship/environment/productdata/disassemblynotebook-o.html , but none of the solutions listed for laptops ENVY 17 apply to mine).

Thank you all for the support,

    Tom

I found a manual for this model HERE .  On page 31, start the instructions you are looking for.   The title is:

  • HP Envy 750-197c Desktop: you can add a SSD internal flash disk to the envy of HP 750-197c Desktop

You can add an internal SSD to the envy of HP 750 - 197c Desktop that has a 2 TB drive installed?

    DMSIceman, welcome to the forum.

Yes, you can move the HARD disk and install an SSD.  You will need to buy at least a 128 GB SSD.  Here is the data sheet for the computer.

The best way to install an SSD is to leave the current HARD drive as it came from the factory.  Connect the SSD drive to another SATA port on the motherboard.  Install the software of Migration data provided by the SSD manufacturer on the HARD drive.  Once installed, open it and follow the instructions carefully.  You choose the SSD as a target.  After the data is transferred from the HDD to the SSD, you can disconnect the HARD drive and start the computer.  It should start on the SSD.  Then, you can disconnect the SSD to the first SATA connector and move to another Bay HARD drive and connect it to another SATA port on the motherboard.  You can use it for storage.

I like the SSD Samsung EVO.  Samsung offers its data Migration software to clone HARD drive.  In addition, they provide their software Wizard to optimize the performance of the SSD.  You can find all the software at the bottom of the page in the link I provided for the EVO.  The Samsung SSD were good about starting in HP computers without changing the BIOS settings.  You will need to buy an adapter to allow the reader to 2.5 "to fit into a 3.5 Bay".

Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.

  • Envy 17 model 17-j102ea SSD Boot question, Legacy Support, BIOS

Hi, first post ever and excuse if this has been covered - if so, please me directly to pertinent information.

    Bought an Envy 17-j102ea...

Hardware problems I would like help / advice for, please:

Legacy support / boot from USB Flash Stick:
Tried to install Windows 8 via a USB bootable work has confirmed...
The laptop does not detect except Legacy Support is turned on...
Once Windows is installed on drive (1 TB 5400 original disc), if I turn OFF then Legacy Support again (as DEFAULT) it starts not from the installed windows now HDD - only when I put Legacy Support back on will it boot.
Can someone please explain / advise?

    Question SSD:
Try to use a 240GB vertex 3 SSD Drive...
Computer laptop wont recognize it- whether it is in Legacy Support mode...
I've seen a few posts on the compatibility and 240 GB not supported...
    It's for real?

    BIOS:
This is a complaint, I want something on this topic, please...
    REALLY.
    Why so basic bios options?
Why can't have two readers in the laptop and choose which start from the first that is alternate between discs easily when I choose?
For a decent computer ", a poor quality BIOS, it disappoints BIG TIME.
It should be fairly easy for programmers to HP create a GUI BIOS updated with the best options.

    * I'm a student in computer SCIENCE and make a clean installation on this laptop with no product key, SSD and a very basic BIOS incompatibility sticker, I find it a little boring, and it takes a lot of my time...

Looking forward to some useful answers.
    Thank you in advance.

Oh, I didn't know you meant that.

    Update:

I bought 8.1 Pro student - implemented on a USB stick (the same Corsair Voyager one) - activated UEFI mode...

It set up perfectly om the 240 GB agility SSD 3!

On the F9 boot menu option it acknowledged even the USB as UEFI.

    Very happy now :))

BUT, can you please help me with something else?

I put the 1 TB HDD in BAY2 5400 original, and it is not recognized at all.

    Any suggestions?

So, thank you for your help miuch. : )

    ... LAST UPDATED:

After rebooting the system TWO it recognizes the 1 TB drive! : )

    Thanks again for your help.

You have been great, and I learned a lot on the way :)

    Best wishes...

  • HP ENVY laptop laptop 15-j153nx: Add SSD

Update: I thought that it was portable average size but it of a laptop thin and seems your limit at just the 1 TB HARD drive or you can swap out to a 1 TB SSD but I also what HP says about the laptop.

"1 TB 5400 RPM SATA; Flash cache: 8 GB; The flash cache module is designed to accelerate the experience of response of the system and cannot be used as extra storage. It is not removable by and not accessible to the user. »

So your expansion options may be limited. Much will depend on what size is the 1 TB of HARD drive that is currently in it right now you need to find an SSD that fits this same dimension to replace the original HARD drive that is there. But what they have now is 1 TB SSD and SSD 2 TB are quite expensive and I do not know how it dimension compared to the CT 1 SSD drives.

Older versions of Windows offer a product key to activate Windows (as it is written on a sticker COST or built-in BIOS/UEFI).

Windows 10 offers another option, called right digital.

Probably, you had older versions of Windows and free upgrade to win 10. In order to keep your old version keys active Windows, Microsoft enabled Windows 10 using the new method. Win 10 has been activated using Windows 7 or 8 button, then this key would have been valid for the 2 versions of Windows (which is impossible).

More information about this new option:

Maybe you can get temporary, the computer HARD disk and reinstall Windows on the SSD drive. Then you can insert the HDD tray in and when everything is ready, you can format the HARD drive and use it as an extra.

If your computer came with Windows 8.1 or 7 preinstalled and later upgraded to Windows 10, you can use the recovery media to install the previous edition of Windows, and then upgrade to Windows 10

Alternatively, you can try to clone your disk SSD using a software like Clonezilla:
