  Friends,

  I searched for a few loads solution / reporting for vSphere environment and after a few days with Veeam One

  I downloaded vCOP test to see if it's something I need (apparently...)

  Unfortunately I have not understande what wrong with my way of thinking... I see a license key on the evaluation of product mywmare page - but the auto-generated license key

  vCOP in web view client is different. In Operations Manager, I see only three tabs: operations, environment and alerts... I see no reports etc...

  In configuration I see service running, connected vcenter, the status of 'authorized' product

  Where is the flaw? Versions? Is it necessary to change the license but how?

  Please advice; I think that it is something so obvious that I can't find a solution online...

  "All license management tasks are performed in the vSphere Client. You cannot assign licenses in vCenter operations Manager Administration Portal. Follow the instructions in the VMware vCenter Operations Manager deployment and Configuration Guide for license.

  vCenter Operations Manager running in mode of foundation if no license key or an incompatible license key is applied. "Assign the license key for the edition you purchased."

• vCenter Linked Mode and Perl SDK

  our VMware environment is divided into two physical places represented as two instances of vCenter. The two vCenters are interconnected. I think that its Mode called "related"?

  Is it possible to use the Perl SDK also bound mode? Currently, I have to manually interrogate both our vCenters and then sort out myself.

  (1) How to configure Perl SDK so I only authenticate once against our environment in Linked mode?

  (2) How can I build queries against the API so results will include objects in the two vCenters? That is to say. If I run a ' Vim::find_entity_views (view_type = > 'VirtualMachine') "I want to get all the objects 'VirtualMachine' in the two vCenters I can avoid running two separate queries and then later combining query results? ".

  It is not a published API method, but there is a way to get the vCenter server list in a group of related modes.  I have an explanation and sample code: http://www.virtuin.com/2012/12/querying-vcenter-linked-mode-with.html

  With respect to authentication, if your vCenter instances use the same permissions (which is recommended), then it's just a matter to authenticate each vCenter.  This is what the native client as well (if you have never installed vCenters with different permissions, you will see the login for each vCenter prompt).

  If you look at the blog post I linked earlier, you self an example of authentication each vCenter as well.  Basically you call Util::connect() two times, once for each of your URL for vCenter.  However, do not delete the global VIM uses the SDK package, or it will default to the last vCenter.  I show in the example script: LinkedModeExample.pl

  With respect to the combination of queries... not so easy.  You need to redesign each vCenter with $vim-> find_entity_views().  Now on a more advanced note, API is powerful enough to make custom inventory queries, you can usually pick up and keep the updates in your objects.

  What I would recommend as a simple approach is two calls to find_entity_views, then push them in a hash or an array.  You'll just want to use the UUID vCenter:

  $vc_uuid is $vim1-> get_service_content()-> {'about'}-> {'instanceUuid'};.

  The instanceUuid has been added in vCenter 4.x and later versions (do not have in the past 2.5 vCenter instances).  Then use this instanceUuid + moref as hash keys.  This is important because the morefs can be duplicated between vCenters.

  So, you can then create a hash:

  My $moref = $entity-> {'mo_ref'}-> {'value'}; # will be vm-# for virtual machines

  $vm_hash {$vc_uuid.} "+". $moref} = $entity;

  }

  Then you can quickly research specific VMs and keep separate them between vCenters.

  You'll find it works for simple data queries, but you start to get more items of inventory (say for an inventory report), the relationship becomes more complex and the number of objects grow.  I did work to push these values in a database and files (including by running it on 5 or less than weight and WaitForUpdatesEx), excel, which works well if you have the time to build the DB and the work of database object schemas.  Just use instanceUuid + Moref value as primary key to prevent any moref vCenter cross reuse value.

  The other option is that the vim reference is added to each object, so you can just get the data of each entity:

  I have a project that I tinker with in my spare time (which is rare these days) which aims to consolidate multiple vCenters into one database for queries and reports, but I didn't get far enough away from share it (very rude, but works for a subset of data at present, but it is very effective for collecting loose on<5s intervals).="">

  You can also look into VMware Orchestrator.  Orchestrator can connect to multiple vCenters and caches data for access by automation.  According to your WAN performance, he can work a geographic site and make sure that you need (just watch the moref, names of entities and other potential overlap between vCenters) aggregated data.

• vCOps and vCenter Collection levels

  How the collection-level, I have to configure in vCenter affect vCOps?  VCOps will retain the same amount of statistics and the granularity no matter what vCenter level collection with that Server is configured?

  The collection in vCenter Server level has nothing to do with the vCOps and the data it collects. vCOps collects the most recent data of 12 points since the vCenter on objects - 20 sec intervals * 12 samples = 5 minutes - which fits in the window of statistics since 1 h perf in real time and is not affected by the accumulation of HR/day/week/month.

• vCenter 5.5 evaluation licenses expire before the 60 day period Eval

  I recently downloaded the vSphere, ESXi 5.5 ISO assessment the Client vSphere and vCenter Server .exe file 5.5.0b and ISO modules.  I was able to install ESXi on my HP Proliant DL360 G5 server in my lab at home without any problems.  I was also able to install vSphere Client.exe on my computer of client without any problems. Via vSphere Client, I was able to connect to my ESXi host and create VMs towing without problem. At this point, I am able to access the host and two virtual machines by using the client vSphere with no problems.

  I then install the vCenter Server on a virtual machine, I then use the vSphere Web Client to connect to vCenter without any problem.  I then create a data center with the Web Client without any problems.

  My problems begin when I try to add the host and two virtual machines I get a message saying that the licenses are expired and so I can't add my host to vCenter.  I don't understand why vCenter isn't allowing me to add the host because of the license, because I thought that evaluation licenses are good for 60 days. I just installed the vCenter server today and should have at least 50 more a few days before its expiration date.

  I go through the process of adding a new host, I can see where the discoverers of customer Web host, but it is not added to the Web Client of stocks due to the problem of the license has expired.

  Anyone have an idea how I can solve this problem.  Thank you very much.

• A single vCops VAPP arrive at a cluster of Std vCops and a cluster of businesses vCops?

  Looking to design a vSphere Management Cluster using vCloud Suite STD (Std vCops) and a Production Cluster using vCloud Suite Enterprise (vCops Ent).   If I connect the vCenter vCops that handles both of these licences of vCops, is vCops smart enough to allow the right license for each cluster based on how to assign the licenses?

  The reason why I want to do it is because I don't want to lose vCloud Suite Ent licenses on a cluster of vSphere management, but still want vCops Std to manage the infrastructure of virtual machines in the cluster.

  vCOps can use only 1 license key at the time, so it will only work in a single edition at some point.

  If you want to have 2 different deployments under license, you will need 2 vCOps different deployments in the same vCenter. You will need 2 keys vCOps - 1 for vCOps STD and 1 for vCOps Ent. A unit of vCOps will have access to / collect resources for the MTS, the other for the resources of the NTS. License will be assigned to each appropriate vCOps deployment. You must have a device of vCOps (last registered member) configured as the extension in vCenter for the web client feature.

  Hi, I just bought 4 Vsphere enterprise edition and Vcenter3 Standard.

  I installed on a windows Server 2003 Server vcente. I have intalled the customer also and when I try to add the host I have an error:

  VI3 host cannot be added if Vcenter is allowed but is not configured license server. Configure the license server, and then try again.

  So I review literature, and they said if I want to run ESXi3.5 or ESX 3 with my Vcenter, I need a license server and refer to the VMware Infrastructure 3 to how installed documentation. I look in the doc, but they said that I need the VMI cd 3 click vpx folder, and then click vmware - licenceserver.exe. I don't have the CD 3 of VMI. I downloaded ESX4 CD and I can't download a previous version to get the executable. So that I can manage my ESXi3.5

  I want to manage my ESXi3.5 before upgrading those of Vsphere 4 Enterprise

  How did you add it? Where's the hardware mounting hard disk? In any State of cause, assuming that you have installed a hard drive was bought, it would be empty and needs be initialized (mounted) and formatted. To find computer or this PC in the right click menu... Choose manage, disk management and you will see a Visual representation of the hard drives. It can automatically prompts you to initialize the disk. Once do you that and format it in ntfs and assign a drive letter and the name of the volume, it will appear in the computer as a lettered drive.

• What groups safety and licensing for developers and the bulk API?

  I am currently working on the API integration in bulk of our SaaS product to Eloqua customer instance.  General requirements include read a list of contact lists and then adding/setting day of Contacts in a list.  They sent us a list of groups of security and licensing options and asked us to the API user account and a user account temporary developer/Tester (check that data arrives intact in Eloqua).  Here's what I assumed from documentation and the discussions here, but someone can tell me if this is correct?

  User of the API (permanent)

  Required permissions: "Everyone," "Users of the API," "user - Marketing base" (to access Contacts or 'Advanced users - Marketing' if "custom objects" access?)

  License: no

  Temporary interactive user to developer/Tester

  Required permissions: "Everyone", "Basic Marketing - users" (and, possibly, 'Advanced users - Marketing' if "custom objects" access?)

  License: Eloqua Marketing Platform

  The other element that I see referenced in the code examples is the specifier "site" or "instance".  What format does it take, and where I can tell the client to search for it in their console Eloqua?

  Hi Richard,

  Let's simplify things a bit...

  For the use of the API (one of them!), you should have User API and Marketing advanced - users.  This warranty covers the basics.

  Licensing should only come into play for things as endpoints to deliver.

  Until the 'site' or 'instance', it is the simple name of the company and is when the user connects to Eloqua.

  When you install or upgrade to ESXi hosts to 6.0 you cannot add them to vCenter Server Windows or device.

  Hi all, as a subject, really. I have been troubleshooting a problem where, when adding a remote host to vCenter, who host their product to unplug a few seconds.

  At first I thought it was my firewall rules, but I've sorted which and I don't no ACL denies more on them.

  I can connect to the host very well using the vSphere Windows-based client, so I do not understand it.

  Should what kind of information I add to this post to help the guy to help me?

  My vCenter was behind a NAT firewall that was causing the problem.

  According to me, there's no difference between vCenter through windows & device licenses.

  You will get vCenter license (as a whole) and now its your choice to deploy vCenter either on windows or deploy the same form of appliance. Once deployed, you must apply the license.

  If you opt for the vCenter Foundation, you will get the same set of features you deploy the VC under windows or as an appliance. It is the same for the standard vCenter license. If you deploy on windows, you need windows license as well.

  You can use vCenter Server Standard 5 licenses for POS. Everything we have features such as (profile of HA, DRS, FT, VDP, host, DVS etc.) you don't need to worry about the virtual server license Center. You must use the correct license vsphere host. But don't forget to think about some virtual server edition Center can handle some vsphere hosts.

  vCenter server 5 Essentials can manage only vSphere Essentials Plus or vSphere Essentials.

  vCenter Server Standard 5 licensecan eat only vSphere vSphere Enterprise and vSphere companies plus standards.

  You can activate the functionality of POS with vSphere Essentials Plus then you will need to use vCenter server 5 Essentials.If you use vCenter server standard for vSphere Essentials Plus so it give error or warning for violation of editing.
