Adding a measure to a 2nd store of data of the same lun.

I'm trying to add a point to a data store. The LUN I want to use does not appear in the list.

I installed new hard drives local to the host and have a 300 GB lun. I was able to extend one of the two data stores that I have installed, but it doesn't seem that the same lun is available in the other data store. Was there something I missed by configuring the new readers/lun? I need to be able to use this lun to multiple data stores and I thought it was possible.  I'm under ESX 4.0.

Thank you!

I understand that correctly. You try to use a part of this new drive to expand a data store and the other part for the second, for example to create two VMFS partitions on this disk? I don't think it will work, nor is it supported. 1 only store data on disk 1/LUN is supported.

What can work is - if you don't have a RAID set - for splitting a RAID in logical volumes that are presented to host ESXi and separate records.

  • How to move a virtual machine to another store of data on the same host

    Hello

    I have a single ESX4 host with 3 data warehouses and I need to move a virtual machine to another data store, how can I do that since I don't have the ability to migrate the virtual machine when I am connected directly to the client with vSphere host and I do not have a server vCenter also?

    Thanks, Julien

    Hello

    Yes, you can use #vmkfstools-i /vmfs/volumes/datastore/VM/VM.vmdk /vmfs/volumes/datastore/VM1/VM1.vmdk

    For the record, the data store must be shared if you copy of VM and VM must be turned off. In the above command you copy VM.vmdk to VM1.vmdk and add the newly created with this existing VMDK VM.

  • several stores data on the same disks

    It's so strange. I can't create several stores data on the same drive. I have a 2 TB plugged on my server (motherboard) disk and after that I created my first store of data (100 GB), when I return to create another, that the drive isn't an option for me to create a new data store of. When I delete the data store, the drive comes as an option to create a new data store of. WTF?

    of http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-esx-4-1/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=fc_san_config/c_making_lun_decisions.html

    A logic unit number must contain only a single VMFS data store.

    I guess the reason for this is a SCSI reservation. Even if this has been significantly reduced in 4.x it is still necessary for some operations. Each SCSI reservation - even if this is necessary for an operation on a datastore - locks the entire disk and could therefore cause problems on other stores of data on the same drive.

  • Why there is no data type that stores only date (without the part of hour)

    Hi all

    Is there a particular reason to not have a data type that stores only date (without the time part) in ORACLE - I'm asking this because the DATE (without a time) is a type of data very frequently used in any application.

    Thank you.

    In fact, I was reading about the types of data...

    We have numbers with details. According to the argument above it is not necessary. We need only a default type NUMBER.

    It depends on. Much of the work that we do, we only create just like NUMBER and don't worry precision. However for financial purposes, a clarification for the monetary values of the application can be very important.

    In the same way do all the varchar2 (4000) character data type. Why we would require an option to specify the length... ?

    Because you can limit the size of the string that can be stored.

    I see what you're saying, but that's just the way it is. Why Oracle would need to confuse the issues by having several types of data to store the type Date and DateTime requiring an explicit or implicit conversion to be necessary, or provide an indicator of accuracy against the date where this indicator of precision would take of additional storage space on something that is already only 7 bytes.

    There will be internal historical reasons why it has happened this way... but really there is no need to worry.

  • More than a store of data in the list

    Hello

    The following script works fine except it does not show VM with more than one data store:

    ($_ | Get - Datastore). Name}}, @{N = "TotalDisk"; E = {}

    ($_ | (Get - VMGuest). OSFullName}},@{N="Cluster '; E = {}
    ($_ | Get - Cluster). Name}}

    How it can be changed to the VM list with more than a DS?

    Thank you

    Hello, AGFlora-

    You can change the property calculated for the property to store data such as:

    @{N = "Datastore"; E={($_ | Get-Datastore. %{$_. {(Name}) - join ","}}

    This will make a list separated by commas in the names of stores of data on which the virtual machine and its discs are and should work for virtual machines residing on any number of data warehouses.  What to do for you?

  • Apex5: How to store field data in the Pagination of the Page

    Hello.

    We have recently started using Apex 5.0.1 on Oracle mod_plsql and 11.2.0.4.

    I have a (non-interactive) report classic, based on a collection of Apex and use g_fxx tables created by the package APEX_ITEM such as TEXT, DISPLAY_AND_SAVE, CHECKBOX2 procedures.  The report contains two checkboxes and editable and display only text fields containing data users have entered or have been extracted from the base.

    I have a button 'Add NEW LINE' that creates automatically a new line 'empty' in the report.  Clicking on it submits the page.  It is during this time submit that a process "After Submit" transfers what is in these paintings g_fxx in my collection of report.  When the number of added lines exceeds the maximum set for this report (30 lines).  The report then pages and the user will see a single line "empty."

    It all works very well.  The problem comes when the user clicks on the "Back" button  All previously entered data has disappeared leaving lines totally "empty".  Not nice.

    Someone knows how to keep the precedent of the fields in the report when content pagination to the 'Previous' or 'Next' in a report page?

    By default, PPR is disabled on tabular forms generated by the wizard. I thought that if the same had been made in this case that Refresh complete which paging can be triggered some process of page which has affected the collection. However in this case we could probably expect No line rather than empty lines...

  • [ADF, JDev12.1.3] Which is the right place (for example, bean or AM) to create and store secret data that the user is unable to intercept?

    Hallo,

    in my page, when the user clicks on a button, I'have run an operation and in particular generate a code PIN and password that the user must not not know/interception.

    The STEM must be kept "secretly" in the comic book.

    I created a function to generate the PIN code in the 'Utils' to the ViewController project class.

    In the managed bean associated page I would deal with the click of the button through its ActionListener function.

    In this function I would also generate PIN call the "generatePIN" works and finally store the PIN in the comic book.

    Is the bean, the right to 'place' where build and store the PIN in the database?

    Maybe I'd better to generate the PIN and then store it throug a function of the module of the Application?

    Thank you

    Federico

    Well, he should go to the model because it is part of business process and is not part of the presentation of data.

    (AMImpl, VOImpl, or same ViewRowImpl are good places to write such code)

    The STEM must be kept "secretly" in the comic book.

    I don't know what that means exactly.

    Aspect of security, no matter where you place code (in the model or ViewController) because both are executed inside the Java virtual machine server-side.

    If you need to secure communications between WLS and DB, then open the database by using the SSL protocol connection (or create the stored procedure and generate PIN directly in db)...

  • How to create a store of data with the small block size

    Hello

    I want to create a data store on two 160 GB drives. All the VI Client allows me to do is to create a data store of whole disc with 1 MB block. But for reasons of performance with the virtualized Oracle RAC, which is 8K organized, I want to go down to a smaller block size. But how?

    Is it possible to split my drive to (lets say) four parts, each with a smaller block size and putting them all together like extends in a data store? To create partitions with fdisk does not work, as the VI Client wants to use the unpartitioned disk. Any ideas?

    Robert

    Hello

    It is not possible. The smallest block size is 1 MB on a VMFS partition.

    Best regards

  • Question: Can store virtual machines on the same drive as ESXi?

    I'll be downloading the trial soon and construction of a test at home server. I see that the minimum requirements are that 80 GB for ESXi but does that mean that ESXi needs 80 GB to be run in addition to virtual machines?

    I want to just prepare for the way I need to build it. Will be need ESXi on it's own hard drive must be installed, and then the other hard drives for data storage?

    Welcome to the community - the best practice is to seprate the storage that you House your virtual machines are the disk that contains the ESXi software - I don't think the 80 GB will be inlcude nominal VMFS datastore but I would invest in a disk drive inexpensive in order to give you more storage.

    Another suggestion to get tested as painless as possible - to confirm that the hardware you are using is supported - http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php

    Sorry about that. Since there were a lot of mistakes in your code I just fixed all. But you are right that even after he still not actually saved it to the SO.

    I would recommend saving them as a ByteArray, that appears in literature as one of the supported by the SharedObject object classes.

    First code

    var bitmap: Bitmap = new Bitmap (BitmapData (100,100,false,0xFF0000) new);

    var bitmapData:BitmapData = bitmap.bitmapData;

    var byteArray:ByteArray = bitmapData.getPixels (bitmapData.rect);

    so. Clear();

    so.data.byteArray = byteArray;

    so. Data.Width = bitmapData.rect.width;

    so. Data.Height = bitmapData.rect.height;

    so. Flush();

    Second code

    var byteArray:ByteArray = ByteArray (so.data.byteArray);

    var bitmapData:BitmapData = new BitmapData (so.data.width, so.data.height);

    bitmapData.setPixels (bitmapData.rect, byteArray);

    var bitmap: Bitmap = new Bitmap (bitmapData);

    Photo: Image of var = new Image();

    PIC.source = bitmap;

    Application.application.addChild (pic);

    I have tested it properly, with a comment, then the other.

    Thank you

  • Shared vs datastore stores local data and DNS in 5.1

    I read page 56 of the vSphere, ESXi, vCenter Server 5.1 Upgrade Guide

    It addresses the issue of DNS load balancing and vCenter Server data store name.

    I think it's to discuss the issue of shared storage and multiple hosts accessing a data store-same and that each host must VMware it the same name, due to how 5.1 doesn't solve VoIP DNS names, but now uses the DNS name for the data store.

    I have no shared storage.  They are all my data store (3 now 3 guests) local.  I guess I have in no way the need to appoint all my local data stores the same.  Correct?

    Here is the text directly from the page 56:

    DNS load balancing solutions and vCenter Server Datastore Naming

    vCenter Server 5.x uses different internal numbers for the storages of data than previous versions of vCenter Server. This

    change affects the way you add NFS shared data warehouses to the hosts and can assign the vCenter Server updates

    5.x.

    names of host IP addresses versions before version 5.0 vCenter Server convert data store. For example, if you

    mount a NFS data by the name \\nfs-datastore\folder, pre - 5.0 vCenter Server store versions convert the name

    NFS-data store to an IP address like 10.23.121.25 before putting it away. The original name of nfs-data store is lost.

    This conversion of hostnames to IP addresses a problem when using DNS load balancing solutions

    with vCenter Server. Replicate data and appear as a single logical DNS load balancing solutions

    data store. The load balancing occurs during the conversion to IP host datastore in solving the

    host name to different IP addresses, depending on the load data store. This load balancing happens outside

    vCenter Server and is implemented by the DNS server. In versions prior to version 5.0, features vCenter Server

    like vMotion don't work with this DNS balancing solutions because the load balancing causes a

    data store logic to appear that several data stores. vCenter Server fails to perform vMotion because he cannot

    recognize that what it considers multiple data warehouses are actually a single logical datastore that is shared between

    two hosts.

    To fix this, versions of vCenter Server 5.0 and later do not convert names to IP addresses data store

    When you add data warehouses. This measure of vCenter Server to recognize a store of data shared, but only if you add the

    data store for each host in the same data store name. For example, vCenter Server does not recognize a data store

    as shared between hosts in the following cases.

    -The data store is added by hostname and IP address on host1 to host2.

    -The data store is added by host name to host1 and host2 to hostname.vmware.com.

    VCenter Server to recognize a shared data store you must add the store of data of the same name in each

    host.

    You have reason - the section relates to the NFS shared storage - with the same NFS server load balancing is multiple IP addresses - in older versions of vCenter as the name of the NFS server is converted into intellectual property that could be different that would cause problems with vMotion and other opt vCenter - with vCenter 5.1 NFS host name is maintained.
