• Cannot save the virtual machine in VMWare Server 2

  Hi all:

  I created a VM (12.1 OpenSuSE 32bits) in VMWare Workstation 7; then I copied it to a host VMWare Server 2.

  When I try to save the virtual machine via the web, the server fails (or at least interrupts the response from Web page), so I tried to save it via command line.

  After searching a bit I found this:

  The question is now that I can't find any vmware-cmd anywhere, and when I run vmware-vim-cmd I get the following error:

  I can't tell you exactly what are the causes of the problem. What I would try (a solution) is to create a new virtual machine in VMware Server with the same specifications as the original one, then copy the two files hard in the new virtual machine folder and edit the .vmx file for the new VM 'OpenSuSE - 12.1 - cl1 - 000001.vmdk' use as its virtual drive.

  I'm configuring a virtual machine which will act as a firewall ISA Server. The machine is now running on a physical machine. I used VMWare Converter to change it to a virtual machine. However, I am unable to set up the configuration of the network. For after this post: http://www.cs.drexel.edu/~vp/VirtualFirewall/ I should create a network invited only to the internal network and a connection open in the external network.

  This last little is where the problems come. The external network has a mask of 255.255.255.252 network, so I have only 2 IP address in the network: 1 the host machine and the other is for the default gateway. Implementation of bridged networks is therefore not an option. I tried setting up guest network only on the external interface, but then VMWare server is unbootable. (The DCHP server on/dev/vmet1 does not start).

  Operation of the machine I have RHEL 5 host OS. It has 2 physical NIC, 1 connected to the internal network and externally 1. Is there perhaps a way to Server2 VM I can ask the network adapter connected to the external network exclusively for this virtual machine? Or is there maybe a better way to implement?

  Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  You can use fill or NAT if you need to communicate outside the host. You cannot configure 'host-only' on the physical map, because this isn't 'host-only' more.

  If you cannot use open due to lack of IP addresses (as a virtual bridged interface needs its own IP address) you can use NAT. In this case, the host acts as a NAT proxy to the client (your firewall). To the outside world only the IP address of the will be visible. The customer will receive an IP address from the VMnet8 virtual network (if you are using DHCP, you can use a static IP address in the range of addresses network IP VMnet8).

  But you must forward packets to the port prompt if there is no communication initiated from the outside at the prompt.

  Virtual machines spin if they are started through the user interface, but I would like first of all to them via command line.

  Question: How can I start virtual machines from the command line? I've read that vmrun must do the job but I can't find this command.

  Did a search on my system: no file vmrun lie.

  Any idea where I get vmrun of?

• Could not load the interface Web VMware Server 2

  It seems that there have been a number of users has a problem similar to mine. Unfortunately so far it seems not be an easy fix. A few weeks ago, I downloaded VMware Server 2.0.2 and installed on my Ubuntu 8.04 Server. Surprisingly, it worked very well and I set up a virtual machine via the web interface. It took 3 weeks later I started having problems. Or, when I tried to access the web interface through the browser page just came not upward or it came I have connected, but then was then put on the door.

  Initially, I have done the following but doesn't seem to help.

  -Reboot the system

  -Restart all vmware services

  -Delete all cookies and cache.

  Then I thought that this question had to do with the process of webaccess. It seems that the process was not because for a very short period of time, the connection appeared and I was able to connect. But after a short period of time, it displays an error and then the connection was unreachable again.

  I checked the port 8308 below:

  Finally, just to try to "start over". I removed VMware Server system and reinstalled. Since the virtual machine is in a separate Directory I thought I had nothing to lose. • VMWARE Server 2 and Red Hat 5.4 Interface Web ES crashes

  I have been using VMWare Server 2.0.1 fine several months until I've restarted my server in a new kernel.

  Although all modules start OK in the window of the terminal web interface seems to hang after have been up for a few seconds only - sometimes barely enough to open a session.

  Any ideas?

  I came across the same issue last week. This is the background I and fix that made me backup for now.

  It seems that vmware provides their own libraries for some of what they need and that there may be a bad interaction between that and RHEL 5.4 libraries updated.

  The FIX:

  yum downgrade glibc glibc-common

  Delete it / come back about 22 packages/dependencies. Then I restarted and re - represented vmware-config and functions of each thing. Note You must change your configuration of yum update so that it is not pushing the new glibc glibc-common until this problem gets solved official.

  2.0.1 or not.

  Uninstall, then reinstall, then enter the serial number during installation.

  1.0.2 is old enough. I would try to avoid this situation. Better update the other server 1.0.9 (more real).

  It depends on the operating system host and guest. You should read the release notes for each version and try to decide on them.
