Adding disk hard BIOS setting

I added the 1 TB SATA drive.

Now things are going wrong after reboot without initial flaw. No USB, slow performance. Starts at W8.1, but something wrong with the USB devices.

I see a short menu at startup. says press ctrl-I to define the two hard drives. However, this brings me to any hardrive settings.

I looked in the BIOS setting and the disks are configured in RAID. Is it OK? I haven't changed anything!

Thanks, nice to hear that my settings are good. FYI the SATA drive was an ext SATA disk with only data, not bootable. I'm not going to change anything more. However the Sharkoon had a USB connection too that I had to use when my system recovery with Norton disk recovery disc. But the last time was already a long time and now I have True Image as a backup utility.

But end good all good.

Thanks again for your support in this matter.

    Hello

Windows xp no my pc compaq v6000 not starting and bluescreen showed a couple of times. I ran the BIOS (phoenix) disk hard diagnosis and the test failed. When I opened my HDD I noticed green rust as deposits into the connector on the hard drive. After cleaning with a brush, computer loaded XP successfully. But an hour later, while I was surfing in mozilla suddenly the mouse pointer started late and showed computer blue screen saying that windows has been closed down to prevent damage.

I would be grateful if someone can tell me if it's a software problem or hard drive error. If I need to replace my hard drive, what are my options, for example. rpm, capacity, provider? Thank you.

The only way you could have rusted copper into the connector on the hard drive is if liquid got in there so I am reluctant to try to speculate how much damage has been done. I remove the hard drive and connect it to the outside to another computer and run chkdsk on it to see if the drive itself is bad. As long as there is a problem on the part of connector and the interface with the motherboard cannot really trust the onboard hard drive Diagnostics. You could also get an own another new hard drive adapter.

If it does not turn on the hard drive is bad, you can replace it with any laptop SATA drive no more than 9.5 mm thick.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16822145587

Above is a good thing. It is slim (7mm) but it will still go into the caddy and connect to the motherboard with the connecting piece. If the hard drive itself is always good, and you replace the connector piece but he always bluescreens, so I would not spend money on a new hard drive. I would say that there was damage to the motherboard.

  • Problem adding a hard disk for Pavilion Elite HPE - 380 t

    Hello

I am trying to replace my existing drive with a new WD 1 TB hard drive. So I intend to install the new WD drive as the 2nd drive, and then run the utility WD Acronis to clone the original to the new drive.

However, when I install the new disk, the BIOS recognizes it, but I think it appears in Windows 7 such as D drive, but it does not work. When I run Acronis, he says that it doesn't detect any WD drive.

I went into the BIOS and ran the test drive / self-test and it passed.

I noticed that the SATA1 controller is enabled. He didn't check before installing the drive.

The controller SATA1 mode is RAID. Not sure that it was previously.

Oh, and I plugged the new drive SATA cable into the connector of the motherboard directly next to the SATA connector as my original drive.

    Everyone through this? Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Steve

You are right. It was the answer, sort of. When I started Windows 7, I went in the new disk drives and active management. I let the system assign drive letters. I then rebooted.

Then when I came back to Windows, I was able to run the original utility WD Acronis True Image to clone my source drive to the new drive. When finished, stop the system, removed my original drive and the new drive my only drive.

Everything works beautifully. I managed to replace my hard drive.

    Thanks for the tip.

  • Adding new HARD disk to the current setup RAID1 on PowerEdge T310

    Hello

I have PowerEdge T310 with SAS 6/iR controller. I've configured as RAID1 with 2 x 500 GB HARD drive. Now I would like to add another disk HARD 2. Is it possible to do with the material current & configuration? IS SAS 6/iR support for additional HARD drive?

    Fauzi79,

Unfortunately with the SAS6/ir you don't have the ability to develop. You must back up the data, delete the table, add readers, then reconfigure the table. After that, then install the operating system and restore the data. Sorry I couldn't give you the answer that you were missing no doubt, but it is a limitation of the controller you are using. If a Perc 6 / I installed then the expansion process is relatively simple.

Let me know if this helps to clarify.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - disk hard keeps spinning down

Hi, I have recently updated the BIOS on my Toshiba Satellite Pro L20, and I noticed that the disk hard keeps spinning down after about a minute, even while typing or surfing on the internet. I checked the power settings Windows XP and have it put on the desk, with the time 'Disable hard drive' set to 5 minutes when it is plugged and 5 minutes on battery (I always use on the same network). I checked the BIOS settings to see if there is something listed there, but there are no settings for hard disk power management in the BIOS.

Although the turning down of the hard disk does not affect performance, I fear that it may be to focus on rising constant power drive / descent.
The new version of BIOS is 25 April 06 Windows Bios Update for Satellite L20 (PSL2X), Satellite Pro L20 (PSL2Y) and Equium L20 (PSL2Z)', or a file 2, 20 - WIN.

I think that it s nothing unusual that the HARD drive keeps spinning down applies none or BONES need the HARD disk activity.
In addition, the turning down of the HARD drive has no effect from the bottom on the performance of the HARD disk or over the life of the HARD drive.

    Greetings, all.
I am a technician in a large enterprise COMPUTING and have been presented with a Tecra M3 which took the user/HDD to set passwords.
I need to redistribute the laptop to another employee, but I need to make sure that no game of passwords of the bios.

Now that I know what is the existing password, I have reset / removed the user password, eliminating 'password =' fast before the start.

However, I find no docco to tell me how to remove the HARD drive password. I am always prompted with "password HARD drive integrated =" command prompt.

Can I put it, I change it. I just can't take it off.
It's probably somewhere simple, I'm not quite familiar with this model.

I should note here: I KNOW WHAT IS THE EXISTING PASSWORD, so I'm not a suspect type "how to bypass a password disk HARD unknown?". I just need to know how to, or remove it completely if the new user-to-be is not invited.

    Hello

You should be able to remove the HARD drive KNOWN password in the BIOS. I put t understand why you aren't able to do.

About your statement, you can set HARD drive password and change the HARD drive password.

I think you should try to remove the HARD drive as the master password BIOS password.
Try to use the Enter key to change the password for the drive HARD and don't anything else type.

In my opinion what one possibility to remove no matter what password and I think he should functions

I suggest to follow the steps provided and check if it helps.

Enter your menu of the BIOS by pressing F2 at startup. Check the following settings:

    Function of the option

Primary hard drive 0 displays the primary hard drive 0. The default value is Auto.

Main main Hard Drive 1 shows hard

  • The PowerEdge 2600 bios setting

    Hello

My server lost power over the weekend and cannot initialize case cannot find devices.

All bios setting missing includes date and time.

Here's what I've done but not success. My server has RAID with 3 hard disks.

First of all in the bios integrated devices was off, so I changed it to SCSI, and computer starts, but crashed on blue screen.

Then I changed to SCSI in RAID and got message cannot find the device again.

I'm sure that my hard drives has been fixed to plunder so I hit ctrl-m for configuration utility and find 2 logical drives witch are correct, but all 3 physical disks in raid 0 ch are fail.

I just want to know how can I save my data, please help.

If all your disks are failed, then you will need to force both of them online. IF you're sure that no. disks have failed before the blackout 100%, then you can force online TWO disks (assuming that it was a 3-drive RAID 5). If you are not 100% sure that some drives have failed before the failure, then forcing online two poor readers can corrupt/destroy your data.

First thing to do: CTRL-M start and go to configure, view/Add. If you are prompted to choose between the disc and the NVRAM views, see what each lists the configuration. Do NOT save a configuration until you have seen them both and you will receive instructions on how to proceed.

You may be able to get direct help, in real time and free of charge by calling Dell technical support line, which must offer support on older machines. (In the case of United States / Canada.)

  • How do I change or remove the password disk HARD on my Tecra A9

    Hi all

I looked for where I could, but didn't find any indication at all, so I'm asking here.

I have a Tecra A9 in need of resettlement, what I like to do for me.
I have a very good password on the HARD disk which I do not wish to give. So I want to change it or remove it completely.

Please someone, how do I do? In the BIOS, I don't see that it has been defined, but all what I try, I can not change or get rid of it.

Maybe I should add that since the original installation of the PC it was years ago and I don't remember not the 'Administrator' password.

Everything is under control. I know the 'controller' password and have already successfully removed the BIOS password. Smart TPM is disabled.

BUT what the disk hard drive password?
    Any help much appreciated!

  • How to remove the disk HARD passwordon Portege R500?

    Hello

do you know how to remove the HARD drive password? I know the current password, but if I try to remove it by changing your current password to a blank password, it does not work.
    It has password always news.

    Thank you

    Hello

I hope that you use the correct and just HARD drive password because it of necessary to remove and delete the existing HARD disk password.
If you have forgot the password for HARD drive then the HARD drive should be locked and you would not be able to unlock the HARD drive!

Generally, the HARD drive password can be deleted in the BIOS.
Please ensure that another password would be removed too.

I found a forum thread useful on a password disk HARD similar question:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=66386𐍒

According to the information published by the user jonr17 you must first make sure that all other like BIOS passwords, user and supervisor passwords are removed.
Then try to remove the HDD from the BIOS password.

    Greetings,

I am in a bind and need help to repair disk hard "do-it-yourself". My fault ID: 9C353G-GLV870-QFPJWJ-60E703

I am no longer under warranty and have no funds currently to be considered in a service center (if it is still available for my location).

Can we please: 1. tell me what means this failure code? and 2.  Is this something I could fix me?

Very unhappy that it was not used much yet failed prematurely! Computers these days come with kill switches after a certain period of time after the purchase?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might help.

He made a place for 2 hard drives, but the specifications say that it came with 1.

Windows 10 can be reinstalled on a new drive hard if your installation has been activated before. The activation servers Microsoft just know your computer and will be reactive. You must Access the media creation tool and have it make a bootable DVD player or you need a usb thumb drive at least 4 GB.

After the back if you want to discuss before, or perhaps find an SSD.
