Addition of data store errors & disconnects

http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1008886 Hello all;

I'm a newbie to the VM community and have you met my 1st problem with vCenter and vSphere.

I have a host running ESXI 5.0.0 504890 located in a remote area

I am trying to add a data store and the following error (both through vSphere and vCenter)

Call 'HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreCreateOptions' of object 'datastoreSystem-xxxx"on vCenter Server 'VC FQDN' failed

I did some research and I found different communities showing to do:

My problem is that the SSH is not enabled on the console (which would require the 1 hour drive to the remote location).  Now PowerCLI is also installed but am not knowing enough commands to run the fdisk such as cited in the links above.

The missing data store are a Raid 1 (which I use for C:\ in my windows guests). Name of the data store is: naa.6d4ae520996553001745a2aa1130d644

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much

Hello

You try to add the new host ESXi data store? If so, can you connect to the ESXi host using the password and vSphere client with the account 'root '. Then try to add the data store. If you try to add the existing data store, then it will format if you add using 'Add datastore' Wizard and you will lose data.

To enable SSH for ESXi 5.0,

To activate the local or remote TSM from the vSphere Client:

  1. Select the host, and then click the Configuration tab.
  2. Click on the security profile > Properties.

In ESXi 5.x, select SSH or ESXi Shell , and then click Options.
In ESXi 4.1, select a Support Local technical or Remote Tech Support (SSH) , click Options.

  3. Select the desired startup strategy and click Start, and then click OK.
  4. Check that the demon selected in step 3 indicates that execution in the Service properties window.

  • root properties in the connected data store: error when accessing the date/time storage

When you browse the properties my connected data store I get an error message when you try to read the value of the property of 'storage date/time': object doesn't support this property or method.

    Here is a minimal example:

    Dim oMyDataStore, MyProperty, oMyProperties
    Set oMyDataStore = Navigator.ConnectDataStoreByParameter ("TOC", "" & "C:\Program Files (x 86) \National 2012\Examples\Data\Example_data.tdm" & "" ')
    Set oMyProperties = oMyDataStore.RootElements (1). Properties
    For each MyProperty in oMyProperties
    Call MsgBoxDisp ("property name:" & MyProperty.Name & + "\n"&"property value:" & MyProperty.Value "")
    Next

Why can I not access this particular property by default?

    Hi Phex,

for the date/time properties, an object called UsiTimeDisp is returned. This object allows to that extend features of service as access to each part separately (day, year, hour, seconds,...) of your date/time value. If you want to print the value of time with MessageBoxDisp, you can use the VariantDate this object property.

Your code might look like this then:

    Dim oMyDataStore, MyProperty, oMyProperties
    Set oMyDataStore = Navigator.ConnectDataStoreByParameter ("TOC", "" & "C:\Program Files (x 86) \National 2012\Examples\Data\Example_data.tdm" & "" ')
    Set oMyProperties = oMyDataStore.RootElements (1). Properties
    For each MyProperty in oMyProperties
    MyProperty.DataType = eTime Then
    Call MsgBoxDisp ("property name:" & MyProperty.Name & + "\n"&"property value:" & MyProperty.Value. ' ") VariantDate)
    On the other
    Call MsgBoxDisp ("property name:" & MyProperty.Name & + "\n"&"property value:" & MyProperty.Value "")
    End If
    Next

    I hope this helps.

    Good day

  • Try to delete the data store: error DestroyVmfsDatastore

    Hi all

I am trying to remove a data store (storage is iSCSI). There is no VM on the data store.

In v2.5, I must click on remove datastore, she thinks for a few minutes and then remove the data of all servers store.

In version 4.0, I clicked on delete, and it has only removed from a host. Instead of be connected to 8 hosts than before it was presented as connected to 7 guests.  (it should not be connected to all guests!).

If I try to remove it from another host, I get an error message:

"Error while configuring the host: DestroyVmfsDatastore: can't delete partition 1 on lun vmhba32:12:0 '.

I tried this on two stores different data I needed to delete with identical results. Any ideas?

Instead of be connected to 8 hosts than before it was presented as connected to 7 guests.

Have you tried to force a rescan storage adapters?

  • VSA data store to use?

I finished installing the VSA trial on a 2 host cluster. It works well, but I didn't know that there are 2 different available data warehouses. Does it matter that it used during the passage of my test virtual machines to the ASB? I usually tried keeping the VM with what I suppose is the host local esxi (1 host 2 host uses uses VSADs-1, VSADs-0).

In addition, these data stores can be filled up completely and still be functional as a HA system?

    Thank you

    Hello

It does not matter what VSA data store you use to move your virtual machines to the cluster of VSA, and HA should work even when the two VSADs are "almost completely filled" (if there is literally no space left then VMs can not not restart/market, which is true for any data store not only VSA-data warehouses).

  • Error when you try to move the cloudvolumes folder in a different data store

OK, so I'm moving my App volume 2.10 cloudvolumes folder of datastoreA on vcenterA on datastoreB on vcenterB, because we want to separate us from our VDI of our basic infrastructure.

We are able to access the two vcenters on the web client.

I tried to just copy the folder datastoreA to datastoreB cloudvolumes and received the following error.

Copy of the file object has already been deleted or has not been entirely created

I've seen this error in Veeam before when moving virtual machines from a data store. The solution is to remove and readd the virtual machine in the inventory.

Everyone tried to move the cloudvolumes folder?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

I would never move the folder because there are files that will always be accessible or are not in read/write mode.

I suggest you copy the files from the 1 folder to another, or maybe add an additional data store to the manager Appvolumes and let the files (appstacks at least) copy automatically.

  • Disconnect from the storage data store

We have two datacenters (Server Vcenter linked mode) - A & B

Site servers A and B are replicated via san (at the end of storage no SRM)

Note - what is the known issue in environmental - issues of SAN - every day there are stores in the event of disconnection from the storage data. (Question is 4 months old now). in the Windows Server performance issues.

For the recommended HP fix update the firmwares of controller on both sites (3 HP EVA controllers) which has been successfully complete however problem has not been resolved.

There are a lot of outages caused by the problem of storage in the environment. As an example under Server is unresponsive due to the store being disconnected from data storage.

  • ODI error: no key is declared in your target data store

    Hi all

I'm trying to update a field in a table (MSSQL data) fields in the same table using the incremental IKM MSSQL put up-to-date.

When I try to run the interface the following error occurs:

com.sunopsis.tools.core.exception.SnpsSimpleMessageException: flow control is not possible if no key is declared in your target data store

I chose the 'Key' option on the primary key field in the "target column properties" under the mapping tab in the designer, but when I select the 'update key' in the workflow tab, there is no fields to select.
What is the difference between these two key configurations in the designer? Why the ODI is not recognizing the key specified on the target?

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

You must create a PK by adding the constraint in your target "Data bank" (go to models-> your data store target-> expand it, right-click on the constraints-> new key and select your PK on the columns tab). Then, you can see the PK in the drop of the update key.

In addition, FLOW_CONTROL should be enabled if you need to dispose of "error capture" mechanism (E$) etc., if not you can set to false.

  • Move-VM error: VM must be managed by the same VI servers as the destination data store

I work with 2 ESXi servers and a single vCenter server with vSphere 6.0 Update 1 b; and PowerCLI 6.0 Release 2

  • Recommendations for "Standby" host / creation of an additional data store / system partition

My ESXI host 5.0, as well as several virtual machines in the data store, resides on a drive of 500 GB of aging.

I have a disc of 2 TB to spare I would partition to as a standby host and an another data store containing the virtual machine, whose thinking is that when the 500 GB drive goes down, I can boot from the 2 TB drive and the new.

I'm looking for suggestions for the best option to implement.  Thoughts include:

    1. A new installation of ESXI on 2 TB drive and restore the configuration from a backup "vicfg-cfgbackup" of the host of 500 GB
      1. have two partitions VFMS, one, a "backup" of the current data store containing the VM on the 500 GB drive and the second is a "general" datastore ~1.5TB that I can use for a volume of FreeNAS; or,
      2. have a bigger VMFS partition
    2. Partition my drive from 2 TB to allow later installation of ESXI; and two partitions VFMS (one of the same size as on the 500 GB drive and the second using the remaining space available), or a single VMFS partition

Proceed to option (1) would result in two disks with ESXI hosts on a machine, but probably, because they are not clones, the UUID must be different so there is no problems with the discs being active.  I just need to set the BIOS to boot from the correct disk.  I understood this correctly, and if so, are there other potential problems with this approach?  The process of installing ESXI allows multiple VMFS created on the a drive, or this work manually through the command line interface, or the vSphere client

The second approach is possible, and would I partition the same drive the 500 GB (IE several partitions of LinuxNative, a systemPartition, a vmkDiagnostic and a vmfs partition), with an additional partition VFMS (or a large VMFS partition)?  Or is it not possible to install ESXI on a disk with partitions that must be kept.  From what I've seen, it seems that if the Setup program detects that the drive has [a] [s] of data store, then the option is provided for the upgrade, so maybe it's possible to install ESXI on a disc with pone or warehouses of VMFS more data on the disk...

Or maybe there is a third option that would be best.

    Any advice?

    Hi Ray,

If you have just a 500 GB drive in your host 5.0 store the ESXi and your VMX/VMDK virtual machines then why not just do the following.

    1. Remove the 500 GB drive
    2. Insert the 2 TB drive
    3. Install ESXi 5.5U2 (or 5.0, if you still need a compatibility it provides) and partition your drive from 2 TB to choose from including data storage you want.
    4. Turn off and add the 500 GB drive (or place it in a networked PC or in a basket usb)
    5. Power and copy the vmx/vmdk files of the 500 GB to your new store of data and add virtual machines to the inventory
    6. Now periodically instant and take backups of your virtual machines to your 500 GB drive (by placing it in a USB port or network caddy/PC)

    What's an option 3?

  • Error during activation of data store single heartbeat

    Hello

I have a cluster HA (5.5) newly created using vSAN as a data store unique. HA cluster is configured with das.ignoreInsufficientHbDatastore, but when I select vSAN datastore in the favorite heartbeat datastore, I get the following error:

The userHeartbeatDs setting is not valid for the cluster NOMCLUSTER

    Perhaps this explains - it.

VSAN part 9 - host failure scenarios & amp; vSphere HA Interop | CormacHogan.com

Another notable difference with vSphere HA on VSAN, it's that the VSAN data store cannot be used for the heartbeat of data store. ...

I guess that this is due to the local VMFS-L version used with VSAN that does not use the same locking mechanism as a VMFS default data store.

  • Extend the data via vSphere Client store - error ' call 'HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreExtendOptions' object 'ha-datastore System' on ESXi 'IP' failed '.

    Hi @all,

I want to thank my datastore on my 5.1 esxi.

When you extend the data store on the vSphere Client Console, I get the error message:

German: Call von 'HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreExtendOptions' as Objekt "ha-datastoresystem" auf fehlgeschlagen ESXi 'IP' ist.

English: Call 'HostDatastoreSystem.QueryVmfsDatastoreExtendOptions' to object "ha-store system data" in ESXi 'IP' failed

Anyone an idea why I can't extend the data store? The new drive is correctly detected.

    Best regards

    Andreas Acker

    Hello

This seems to be a local data store. ? This is where the ESXi host is installed. ?

    Thank you
