Additional memory T42

Hi all

I am a user of 2374-A63 T42 and basically I was wondering if there was a way to upgrade my memory. I heard that there are 2 memory slots, one under the keyboard and another on the side rear of the laptop.

I already have 1 GB installed and I want to make the most of my T42...

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum!

Your T42 will take 2 x 1 GB PC2700 (DDR333) computer laptop RAM. All the instructions on how to replace the stick under the keyboard is in the HMM:

I hope this helps.

You need to install more RAM before moving to Snow Leopard and need to do before moving to Lion or newer. Buy it from a source OWC or Crucial.

  • Upgrade Vista 32 and 64 for the recognition of additional memory and game performance

I have a question for the computer.  I have a HP Pavilion Elite m9040n who has Windows Vista 32 - bit SP2 with 3 GB of memory.  From what I've been able to determine, the 32-bit version doesn't recognize up to 3.5 GB of memory and I need to install the 64 bit version of Windows Vista for additional memory can be installed AND recognized.  This system comes with the Core 2 Quad Q6600 (K) 2.4 GHz, at 1 066 MHz front side BUS and Socket 775.

My question - would be upgrade to Windows Vista 64-bit and install another 4 GB for a total of 7 GB of extra memory for increased game performance.  Also, I have a graphics program which because of some image sizes (up to 96 inches - 19200 pixel everywhere) program that the bombs on me with "out of memory" messages.  I play World of Warcraft and Starcraft 2 right now.

    Thank you.

    Just another Hacker ol '

In your case a newer graphics card improve performance much more compared to buying new RAM. You can then add more RAM. "A programmer is just a tool that converts the caffeine in code" Deputy CLIP - http://www.winvistaside.de/

  • you need additional memory

Hi, aurora r4 with 2 x 4 GB ram sticks. I use it for games on simple monitor@1920x1080,would it be useful to add extra RAM to make own quad memory? The cost is £50

    Thanks Martyn

No, no game requires more than 8 GB of RAM.  Only useful if you use applications that have need of additional memory such as editing video, rendering, etc., or if you are in the habit of running several memory hogging application simultaneously.

Also, the memory quad configuration will not give you nice perks in the use of real life on config double memory.

  • Pavilion 500-189: usefulness of adding additional memory to a computer desktop Pavilion 500-189

Hi - I think adding memory RAM additional to my desktop HP Pavilion computer model 500-189, bought in February 2014. It runs under Windows 10 home ed., 64 bit with RAM total to 10 GB. The computer has 4 memory slots and currently only 2 are used: slot 1 has a card 2 GB Hynix/Hyundai 1600 MHz and slot 2 has a card 8 GB Kingston 1600 MHz.

I'm currently pondering adding a single 4 GB DDR3 1600 MT/s PC3-12800 CL11 map of 240 pin unbuffered UDIMM in each of the last two slots to bring the memory total amount up to 18 GB. The total cost would be less than US $40.

My question: This inexpensive upgrade will not improve the performance of my computer or is - this exaggeration only change?

Comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Graphene, welcome to the forum.

Now, we are dealing here with reviews.  The sweet spot for memory seems to be 8 GB with Win 10.  In fact, I read that you will be hard to see a difference between 8 and 16 GB.  I use a laptop of Omen HP with 8 GB memory game.  It manages all the games that I played very well.  As you said, you already have 10 GB of memory and the processor is very fast.

Yet once, is discussed in the opinion.  In my opinion, the best upgrade that can be done today is an SSD.  My HP Omen loads games and programs incredibly quick and starts in 7 seconds or less.  I used a Samsung EVO 840 500 GB SSD in HP Phoenix Gaming desktop computer.  Again, it was incredibly fast.  Here is the SSDthat are recommended by Crucial memory.  They make great products for OEM computers.  I found the research that Samsung SSD seem to work better with HP motherboards and normally don't require changes to the BIOS works properly out of the box.   In addition, Samsung has its own Migration of data and Software Wizard software to fine-tune the SSD after installation.

This should give you pause.  If you decide to go with an SSD, I'd be happy to tell you how I did the installation.  It has worked well for me.

  • slot Memory 4 quit working after installing additional memory sticks

I have a HP pavilion running XP media center a1440n 2005 with 1 GB of memory installed in the factory PC2-4300 (266 mhz) into the slot 1 & 3 (blue slots) total of 2 GB. I bought (2) sticks of memory PNY PC2-6400 and added 2 & 4 slots (black sites). Computer started and ran fine, checked CPU - Z and all memory displayed. I thought I could replace original with additional faster memory PC2-6400, since I realize that the unit will work on slower speed stick. To view before, I bought more memory, I got out of memory original slots 1 & 3 and replaced by the new memory. Computer would not boot. Has released the new memory and replaced with the original and the computer started. When I tried to install the new memory in slots 2 & 4, computer wouldn't boot. After changing the sticks and 2 & 4 memory slots checked OK but computer wouldn't boot with anything in the 4 Groove. For now, I use 3 & 1 GB in slots 1, 2, and the computer seems to work very well with all 3 assignment. I guess the slot 4 is shot, but why would the computer starts not with the new memory in ALS 1 & 3?

    Hello

Try to clear the CMOS memory.  You can also try to remove the CMOS battery.

Use a flashlight and visually inspect the slots for bent pins.

I've seen this problem before and clear the CMOS usually solves the problem, but not always.

Your best bet is to use a tool for major manufacturers such as Kingston, crucial or Corsair dimm to make sure that your have the correct DIMM and then followed by a call to the sales to make sure that you have chosen the correct DIMMS. I use sets matched across all DIMM slots to avoid compatibility problems.

BTW, HP specifications only list PC2 - 6400 DIMM approved.  This can cause weird problems.

  • Additional memory installation

    Hello

Can I install 2 x 4 GB memory cards in the slots at the bottom of my iMac 2011 environment while keeping the cards of 2 GB in the top slots?

either they are correct pair configurations (side by side)?

There is no mention that slot machines are the pairs. Normally we would identical memory cards in slots 1, 3, and another identical 2.4 slots.

Does anyone have an idea of this to get the best out the higher level maps?

    Thanks a bunch

OK I think I can have answered it for me.

According to the about this Mac and report/memory system , it displays 4 benches of 0.1, 0, 1.

So I guess that 2 identical cards placed in Bank 0 , and the other 2 in Bank 1.

If anyone thinks that this is not correct please feel free to let me know :)

  • Adding additional memory to Satellite 1900-303

I'm trying to locate the original 256 MB of ram upgrade to 512 but can't find it! I already added a 512 in the spare slot and works well, but where the hell is the original? He says there are two openings in the manual... help please

    Hi rockpebblar_1,

What model of laptop you have exactly?

On some laptop computers, you can find a location of memory under the keyboard. This means that you need to remove the keyboard first before you can exchange the RAM.

    Hello

I want to upgrade the memory on my Satellite Pro 2100 and I found compatible parts on the Toshiba site but would like to ask how he would settle?

    Thank you.

    Hello

At the bottom of the unit, you should find a memory cache location. As far as I know it s placed in the middle.
Under this coverage, you should find two locations. A slot uses 256 MB module, and the second site should be free.
