Address bar is replaced with a solid group

All of the text in my address bar is obscured by a band of color, that the text should be. For example, now I see a green for the secure connection to Mozilla, gray Strip where http://www. It is black to the field and gray for the rest of the URL. By clicking on the scratches reveal parts of the URL sections sometimes are revealed on mouseover. Curiously, the only time where it appears correctly is when I use the back button to navigate to a page.

New installation on Xubuntu 14.04
I tried to reboot, reinstall FF, FF safe mode and reset.

  • Version 29: Address bar is filled with static icons to Firefox. Impossible to type the URL in the address bar.

I have never seen anything like this before and can't find a solution in support or in a general Google search.

We have a user who has an address bar has filed with the static icons in Firefox (there's a screenshot if there is no way to predict that). If the user clicks on them, they aren't going anywhere (they shouldn't be here anyway, no?). This user is unable to type in the address bar, either. Not sure if there was an auto-update to version 29 of the next day or not, but Firefox has been uninstalled a sweet version of installed 29 - reasoning that he could be an installation problem. The question remains. This user is not having the same problem with Chrome. Have not tried to breed with another browser on that machine. Have not heard complaints from other users in the Office using version 29.

Is there a setting being ignored with version 29? Is this a bug? Should we try to install version 28 and see if it's a question of versioning, or maybe something else? Try to eliminate possible problems and move to the next set of solutions.

  • I want to merge the window address bar and search with the menu bar in order to avoid a really stupid design feature that the last "update" forced on me. How can I?

The boring latest Firefox update separated the menu bar and address two bar and moved the address bar below my tabs, nor what is logical or useful and wastes space. How can I combine them?

    Christopher,

Sorry, there is nothing for Mozilla to 'fix', the new UI Australis works as expected. I'm not satisfied with these changes, as a number of talented developers who have spent a lot of time creating extensions to correct that some of us don't like the new UI.

This door extension on most of the changes in the new user interface, and what it does not there can be an extension separated for that, too.

To meet these specific issues that you mentioned in your first posting, the menu bar is not really necessary to have on the screen all the time. If you hid it, you can press Alt to only show. In addition, many of the main menus on the menu bar are available from the button Menu to open '3-bar "; something new for the user is to become familiar with.

It is always possible to personalize then move buttons to toolbar on the Menu bar, if you want to display the Menu Bar all the time.

The menu bar and address bar have always been distinct by default, but unfortunately the ability to "Customize" the address bar (on which the address bar is a part of) has been considerably limited compared to previous versions of Firefox.

Regarding the location of the 'tabs band', he called "The tabs at the top" and was already the default for some versions of Firefox. This Museum is the hidden preference (browser.tabs.onTop) , which allowed the user to turn off this preference.

These two extensions add this pref in versions of Firefox 29 +:

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/tabs-on-bottom/

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/fdgueux-tabs-on-bottom/

Just as the Restorer of classic theme, but without the other proposed changes to the CTR.

In closing, Mozilla has made studies on how Firefox users using Firefox, and how they have changed the Firefox; the results showed that a minority of users changed anything about Firefox. And a super minority of users of Firefox went as far to change the user interface, like the poster in this thread we're talking.

I am part of this "great minority", I tend to 'customize the hell' of Firefox. And I'm working on a solution to many changes, while avoiding the use of extensions when possible; Although my solutions do not involve change "Tabs at the top", which is a change, I welcomed in Firefox 4.0.

  • Address bar is mingled with previously typed URL

About 2 days ago the address bar began to act up. If I am already visit a Web site and wish to enter a new address, the current URL disappear from the bar, so I have to type on it, which in turn, he is completely confused and illegible.

So basically it does not erase the current of the address bar URL when you try to type a new, and instead, he rides it, making it blurry and distorted letters.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the Add-ons is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Modules > themes).

  • With the help of Firefox 4.0 Beta 4. When I open a link in a new window, the web address does not appear in the address bar. Why?

When I opened a web page link in "a new window" opens the link, but the information of the web page does not appear in the address bar. It is empty. If I open the link in a new tab, ho problem exists.

In addition, if one open a link in the tab without a location in a new tab in the same window and then go to the original tab, the address bar fills up with the web address.

Made it from several places, so it not dependent on location.

That behavior is likely to be the top caused by an add-on, and in your case the probable guilty is IE Tab 2, the different versions of IE Tab caused problems with Firefox 4 beta, including issues with the location bar not updated.

You can test to see if IE Tab 2 is causing your problem by disabling the it and then see if the address in a new window bar displays the address. If it isn't this add-on causing the problem, see Troubleshooting extensions and themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems.

FYI, the IE Tab Plus add-on has been updated recently to improve compatibility with Firefox 4 beta, you can try this one instead. The latest version is available from http://coralietab.mozdev.org/installation.html

  • FF 40 for Linux. Blank white page without control. Own profile fixed but causes blocks colored instead of the text in the address bar.

Because the update to 40 FF lance a blank white screen with no controls, no toolbar or address bar. I can create a new profile in the Profile Manager and then launch firefox functional but a previous bug still exists, the text in the address bar is replaced by blocks of solid colors. The only solution I know because this is: config > gfx.xrender > toggle true to false, but on the relaunch firefox returns the white screen.

2 should I proceed to report a bug, and where should I report it? On bugzilla? Is it easy to report a bug or find out if she is already underway on?

The system I use is Lubuntu 14:04

I found my own solution to the problem, which was caused by the incompatibility of the 40 FF with the Lubuntu versoin I used 14:04, so I've updated at 15:04 and FF still works, though only after the creation of another new profile.

  • Strange behavior of address bar

I have a problem with the selection of text in the address bar by clicking with the mouse.

What I expect to happen: a single click any where (without previous selection) selects the entire URL, extra clicks to select parts of the URL or move the cursor. Maximally three clicks are necessary to any desired selection mode.

What happens to the contrary seems more random. Sometimes I have to click on 6 or several times until the entire URL is highlighted, however when I start typing, it does not always replace the entire string, but begins by replacing the last character.
The selection also feels sometimes lag, with the section highlighted change after a noticeable delay (about 300 ms).

The address bar is still usable, but it no longer responds to always enter.

I'm using Firefox 33.0.2. Disabling extensions and restarting do not affect the issue. However, when you run Firefox in SafeMode the problem disappears. Any ideas how can I fix?

    Hello

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    1. Click the menu button

      and select Options

    2. In the Options of Firefox window, click the Advanced tab, and then select general.
    3. You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    4. Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:

You have enabled AutoFill the address bar?

You can check the browser.urlbar.autoFill pref on the topic: config page.

You can also make visible Protocol.

You can set the pref browser.urlbar.trimURLs false on the topic: config page to see the http: Protocol.

You can set the pref browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled false on the topic: config page to turn off the development of the field and to better discern the full URL.

  • Problem for all Microsoft products that contains the functionality to search and address bar replace Outlook.

I am facing a constant problem with IE 8, Control Panel, Windows Explorer and any other product that has an address bar. The problem is this: as soon as I finish the login sequence, so that on my desk, the content of the history of the address bar starts flashing quickly, even if I did not open IE or any other application. Once I open IE 8, control panel or any oher application that contains an address, historical content bar drop-down startup flashes quickly and blocks the page or the screen, it is impossible to execute any action/activity. • How to remove "search with google" on the link address bar?

In the last update "firefox aurora", I now have a little awkward accommodation that opens with all the usual sites, I'll and he says: Google search.

Or more accurately, it is said that after that I start to type any word in the address bar. It is quite annoying. I use firefox/aurora because I hate google chrome to do the same shit.
If I want to search with google, I'll go to google.com as I always do. I don't have an option obvious sell-out google it just to annoy the hell out of me when I need it 98% of the time.

Now, is there anywhere in the subject: config or any other way to remove this annoying nuisance?

Or if not, a way to downgrade to the previous version which is not only addition. (I don't really like on 'security risk' Please do not give me that excuse)

I'd rather not have to go and use internet explorer if I do not, but if I'm stuck with this annoying thing, I prefer to use the very crappy browser something that will annoy me always.

    Nevermind, it fixed.

Or update that just happened to be doing the work.

  • When I open a page in firefox there is nothing on it just a black page with no address bar or whatever it is

When I open a page in firefox there is nothing on it just a black page with no address bar or whatever it is

Currently in version 33, Firefox has implemented a new faster way to loading Web pages. This new feature is called OMTC. However, there are still tweaks to the Mozilla developers make this.

There is a known issue that Mozilla works very hard to fix: If you have black pages on some sites, here's what you can do to avoid the problem in the meantime:

If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • Click the menu button

      click Help

then select restart with disabled modules.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

    To disable hardware acceleration

    • Click the menu button

      then select Options.

    • In the window of Firefox Options (or preferences), click on the Advanced tab, and then select general.
    • You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.

Now, quit Firefox, wait a few seconds and start normally.

  • address bar does not display icons associated with the websites you have visited - when you click the menu drop-down

The address bar of firefox has a drop-down menu that shows some of the previous websites visited. In versions of Firefox I have used in the past, these menu entries give the address of the web site, a text describing in more on the site and also a small official icon in the left column. I just installed Fedora 19 and the version of Firefox is included with it. Then I upgraded to firefox - 29.0.1 - 1.fc19.x86_64. Now the address bar pull down menu only gives the address of the web site and also the text describing in more on the site (such as an official title). But instead of the icons I see small places with dotted lines.
How can I get this version of firefox to display these icons. I noticed that the bar at the top of the page shows search engine these this type of icon for that available such as google, yahoo, bing etc.

I checked these preferences on the about: config page and they have already been put to true. The problem seems to be elsewhere.
