Address bar is mingled with previously typed URL

About 2 days ago the address bar began to act up. If I am already visit a Web site and wish to enter a new address, the current URL disappear from the bar, so I have to type on it, which in turn, he is completely confused and illegible.

So basically it does not erase the current of the address bar URL when you try to type a new, and instead, he rides it, making it blurry and distorted letters.

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the Add-ons is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Modules > themes).

  • Makes no changes on the start safe mode window.

  • Version 29: Address bar is filled with static icons to Firefox. Impossible to type the URL in the address bar.

I have never seen anything like this before and can't find a solution in support or in a general Google search.

We have a user who has an address bar has filed with the static icons in Firefox (there's a screenshot if there is no way to predict that). If the user clicks on them, they aren't going anywhere (they shouldn't be here anyway, no?). This user is unable to type in the address bar, either. Not sure if there was an auto-update to version 29 of the next day or not, but Firefox has been uninstalled a sweet version of installed 29 - reasoning that he could be an installation problem. The question remains. This user is not having the same problem with Chrome. Have not tried to breed with another browser on that machine. Have not heard complaints from other users in the Office using version 29.

Is there a setting being ignored with version 29? Is this a bug? Should we try to install version 28 and see if it's a question of versioning, or maybe something else? Try to eliminate possible problems and move to the next set of solutions.

  • Firefox continues to change url in the address bar, even when I type a url full. How can I force my search?

Dealing with the same companies daily, weekly, or on a very regular basis. When I get a new business account or a customer, I try to remember to delete erroneous results in the address bar. I hit the full url (.com) in the address bar, but Firefox forces of memory (or history) and the only way I can get where I'm going is to type the address from a search engine.

I have everything: completion of the configged, but that didn't work. I also tried autofill.typed, but that has not worked. I tried to change tools > address bar, but the choices are not good. I almost never search bookmarks and my story is too often used to remove. (It seems counterproductive). How can I stop Firefox forcing me to go places I want to go?

It looks like - in the sense to remember shit that I can't remember - and to do my research much more difficult.

I don't know if the problem is that Firefox itself changes the address you type in the address bar, or if the site is immediately Firefox redirection to another page when trying to access the address you specified.

For example, 1 & 1 Webmail currently redirects to this site for login: https://webmailcluster.perfora.net/

    Christopher,

Sorry, there is nothing for Mozilla to 'fix', the new UI Australis works as expected. I'm not satisfied with these changes, as a number of talented developers who have spent a lot of time creating extensions to correct that some of us don't like the new UI.

This door extension on most of the changes in the new user interface, and what it does not there can be an extension separated for that, too.

To meet these specific issues that you mentioned in your first posting, the menu bar is not really necessary to have on the screen all the time. If you hid it, you can press Alt to only show. In addition, many of the main menus on the menu bar are available from the button Menu to open '3-bar "; something new for the user is to become familiar with.

It is always possible to personalize then move buttons to toolbar on the Menu bar, if you want to display the Menu Bar all the time.

The menu bar and address bar have always been distinct by default, but unfortunately the ability to "Customize" the address bar (on which the address bar is a part of) has been considerably limited compared to previous versions of Firefox.

Regarding the location of the 'tabs band', he called "The tabs at the top" and was already the default for some versions of Firefox. This Museum is the hidden preference (browser.tabs.onTop) , which allowed the user to turn off this preference.

These two extensions add this pref in versions of Firefox 29 +:

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/tabs-on-bottom/

    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/fdgueux-tabs-on-bottom/

Just as the Restorer of classic theme, but without the other proposed changes to the CTR.

In closing, Mozilla has made studies on how Firefox users using Firefox, and how they have changed the Firefox; the results showed that a minority of users changed anything about Firefox. And a super minority of users of Firefox went as far to change the user interface, like the poster in this thread we're talking.

I am part of this "great minority", I tend to 'customize the hell' of Firefox. And I'm working on a solution to many changes, while avoiding the use of extensions when possible; Although my solutions do not involve change "Tabs at the top", which is a change, I welcomed in Firefox 4.0.

  • Address bar is replaced with a solid group

All of the text in my address bar is obscured by a band of color, that the text should be. For example, now I see a green for the secure connection to Mozilla, gray Strip where http://www. The address bar does not show the current tabs URL COMPLETE. I tried the Trim URL thing nothing helped. It is also one that there is no option to COPY the LINK in the file menu. I need to be able to view the full URL and be able to copy for a variety of reasons. Would also be nice to make sure that I am on a HTTPS page and don't have to guess.
Take a look at this site and see that no matter what you go to the page, the URL remains the same.

Really want to know the reason that FF out of the combination, what is the problem or the issue or was it just someone's idea of a nice piece of code?

If you are on a secure connection HTTPS, then you will always see the https: Protocol. Only the http: Protocol is hidden.

If a page uses frames and other pages are open in a frame, then you will not see this picture link in the address bar.

You can right click on a web page to see if images are used (this frame > view frame info)

If your settings for brightness and contrast are wrong then you will see only the field highlighted.

You can set the pref browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled false on the topic: config page to turn off the development of the field and to better discern the full URL.

  • With the help of Firefox 4.0 Beta 4. When I open a link in a new window, the web address does not appear in the address bar. Why?

When I opened a web page link in "a new window" opens the link, but the information of the web page does not appear in the address bar. It is empty. If I open the link in a new tab, ho problem exists.

In addition, if one open a link in the tab without a location in a new tab in the same window and then go to the original tab, the address bar fills up with the web address.

Made it from several places, so it not dependent on location.

That behavior is likely to be the top caused by an add-on, and in your case the probable guilty is IE Tab 2, the different versions of IE Tab caused problems with Firefox 4 beta, including issues with the location bar not updated.

You can test to see if IE Tab 2 is causing your problem by disabling the it and then see if the address in a new window bar displays the address. If it isn't this add-on causing the problem, see Troubleshooting extensions and themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems.

FYI, the IE Tab Plus add-on has been updated recently to improve compatibility with Firefox 4 beta, you can try this one instead. The latest version is available from http://coralietab.mozdev.org/installation.html

  • Strange behavior of address bar

I have a problem with the selection of text in the address bar by clicking with the mouse.

What I expect to happen: a single click any where (without previous selection) selects the entire URL, extra clicks to select parts of the URL or move the cursor. Maximally three clicks are necessary to any desired selection mode.

What happens to the contrary seems more random. Sometimes I have to click on 6 or several times until the entire URL is highlighted, however when I start typing, it does not always replace the entire string, but begins by replacing the last character.
The selection also feels sometimes lag, with the section highlighted change after a noticeable delay (about 300 ms).

The address bar is still usable, but it no longer responds to always enter.

I'm using Firefox 33.0.2. Disabling extensions and restarting do not affect the issue. However, when you run Firefox in SafeMode the problem disappears. Any ideas how can I fix?

    Hello

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    1. Click the menu button

      and select Options

    2. In the Options of Firefox window, click the Advanced tab, and then select general.
    3. You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    4. Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:

  • Why focus/cursor selects the address bar when you click in a new page?

This happens all the time, but most of the time... When I browse a site by clicking on the links, whenever a new page load the address bar is chosen to start typing. When I go to scroll down (using the down arrow/page keys) he'll scroll rather recent page URL in the address bar, instead of scrolling to the bottom of the page.
Looks like this behavior just started today...

To be clear, that's not something to do with the tabs, pages open in the same tab by clicking on the links at left will also affect the cursor to the address bar.

I don't think I'm in safe mode, I tried to reset firefox and this still happens. If this does not work as expected, can I disable it?

You open links in the same tab?

This also happens if you click the link to open the link in a new tab?

Have you checked for problems caused by plugins?

In the Firefox Safe mode, these changes are effective:

    • all extensions are disabled (subject: addons)
    • Default theme is used (no persona)
    • userChrome.css and userContent.css are ignored (chrome folder)
    • default toolbars is used (localstore file - safe.rdf)
    • JIT JavaScript compilers are disabled (subject: config page: javascript.options. * jit)
    • hardware acceleration is turned off (Options > Advanced Options > general)
    • plugins are not affected
    • preferences are not affected
  • Open a new tab in Firefox 16.0.1 the focus is on the address bar, and then moves to the search box

When I opened a new tab in Firefox 16.0.1 focuses on the address for a second bar or then the focus moves to the search input field. If I start typing something that fills the first character in the address bar, then the rest is typed into the search field.
