address book-> mailing list-> sort order of names

Generally difficult to change the mailing lists - change the order of the names in the list add email/names list mid-week - drop list - pieces of copy of list to another list - how you can change a mailing list?

To open the box for a mailing list, or double-click the folder in the list or right-click and select Properties.
The contacts are displayed in the order that they were added to the list when you view the list in the edit window. Unfortunately, this cannot be changed.
If you alone on the folder in the list to make it display in the window of the book address, then you can sort the view just like any other Thunderbird window by clicking on a column header. Click on the same heading again to reverse the sort.

Instructions of the mailing list.

OK, you started a new message, you click on answer, or you clicked on to the front.

The new message window opens. This is where you should expect to see the Contacts Sidebar. At this point by pressing F9 on your keyboard (do you need to use a special function key to access the F9 key action?) should display on the left. (You said you "click on F9"?)

If F9 does not work, turn on the menu of the compose window.

Press and hold the < alt > key on your keyboard. Press V. The menu should appear. There you can select Contacts Sidebar.

If you want to have the Menu or the toolbar displayed each time press and hold the < alt > key on your keyboard, press V, and then toolbars, where you can select the Composition toolbar.

When the toolbar is visible, you can customize it to include a Contacts button, if it has not already a. You will see a custom option while following one of the sequences leading up to, or you can right-cliik the toolbar itself.

  • How to create a subset of the names in the address book without having to type each name separately?

When I used to use OE as my email client, it was possible to create "groups" in the address list, with the facility to send then to the group by name, so that each recipient included in the Group of email addresses all received the e-mail in question. (For example, the group named "IVG" consisted of six e-mail addresses, owned by six members of a discussion group, as I do, and I could send all at once simply email for IVG). Now, here's my question: in OE, I could fill the e-mail addresses of members of the Sub-group by simply selecting them in my list (s) global e-mail address. In TB, on the other hand, it seems that the only way to create a "new list" in the global list existing, is to type the address of each recipient by hand - an amazingly arduous task if the subgroup is of any size. And it is not clear that, even when the "new list" is over, it can be used as a "mass mailing" vehicle like the subgroup could in OE. Can someone tell me, please, if and how I can compile a subgroup within the address list of TB in the same way that I have described for OE? (And I can deal with just like a 'name' to send e-mails to all members of the subgroup, as described above?)

Start typing and it will automatically complete. If you do not have to type a lot.

Or create your mailing list, close it, and then drag and drop contacts on its icon.

As you describe with OE, use the name of the mailing list replaces the addresses it represents. You can of course just select from your address book as any regular Contact entry.

A significant limitation of the mailing list of Thunderbird, it is that it must be created in an address book with the Contacts he made reference. In other words, if you generate a list in the PAB, it must contain only the Contacts appearing in the personal address book. If you create an entry in a mailing list that is not in his address book parent, a new minimum Contact entry will be automatically created in this address book parent. Put in official terminology, a mailing list is a subset of the address book of its parent.

  • How can I set up Windows Mail to sort by last name instead of the first?

In previous versions of Windows Mail, the contacts appeared sorted by name, then first name.
New version sorted by first name, which is annoying when I remember only the name of the contact.
How can I do name be the standing order in my contacts?

    Hello, DWHarp

Please use the Forum for answers!

Click on the name of title just above the list to change sorting options, it will toggle between first name and family name, Crescent/descending Crescent/descending.

The settings should be saved automatically.

    I hope this helps.

  • Problems with Outlook Express (address book, mail open, etc.)

Hi, I have a strange problem with my outlook express. The program opens ok, it synchronize the e-mail with the servers and so on. If you click on an email in the upper part of the window you can see the content below.
Now, this is my problem, I can not doubleclick on an email to open it, I can't send an email or forward it. I can't open the address book.
I get different messages, "it was not possible to open the address book, it cannot be installed correctly", "the message could not be opened, an error has occurred", "it was not possible to load the due address book that Outlook Express is not properly configured. Reinstall Outlook Express"and so on.
I used this software for many years and the problem came from one day to the other. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the program from the Control Panel, I did a repair on XP installation, but it is always the same, is there anyone who has an idea (I know that Outlook Express is and old program, but it works very well for my needs).

    What about Nils

First, try a new identity and see if that helps.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  • Address book to blackBerry Smartphones to synchronize with MS Outlook

I have synced my MS Outlook Contact list with my BB Curve 8330.  All my contacts are showing in my BB, but they are not in alphabetical order.  I have the BB address book set to sort by last name.  For example, when I look at my BB address book, contacts appear in the following order: A to F, then he starts A to P, then m to Z.  None of the contacts are repeated.  Can someone help me understand what the problem is?

    I would do the following:

To delete all contacts from the BlackBerry device, follow these steps:

    1. Connect the BlackBerry smartphone to the computer and launch the BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
    2. Double-click on the backup and restore, and then click Advanced.
    3. Under device databases, select address book and click clear.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Click Refresh to verify that the address book database is disabled.

Take an as shown battery pull and recharge from Outlook.

Remplacer replace after one minute, let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is corrected.

  • WHAT ARE THE ADDRESSES COLLECTED VS, STAFF ADDRESS BOOK

I understand the difference between collected addresses, OTHER books addresses, personal address book, mailing lists.
How and when should I use each of the above.

Personal book is for contacts that you use frequently. Collected book collects the e-mail addresses that you send.

  • My Windows Live Mail is sorted in alphabetical order by family name, but now, when I add a new contact, it is positioned at the top of the list instead being placed in the right place alphabetical.

My direct mail is sorted in alphabetical order by family name, but now, when I add a new contact, it is positioned at the top of the list instead being placed in the right place alphabetical.  How to load the list of contacts to organize all contacts, including contacts, in alphabetical order by family name?

E-mail address is removed from the privacy *.

My direct mail is sorted in alphabetical order by family name,

It is not clear what you mean by this statement.

    • There is an option in the contacts window in kind (names) of > name -is that what you mean?
    • Or that, when you open / switch to the contacts window, you see a list sorted by last name?
    • Or that when you click on to... or start typing in the to... box in a message composition window, you see a list ('contact selector') sorted by family name?

Only in contact with an e-mail address will appear in the "Chooser". The list includes names in alphabetical order. For contacts with a first name and a registered name , the list will be sorted based on the preference granted to sort by in the Contacts window. Contacts with multiple email addresses will appear once for each address with the address in brackets after the name.

Name is a special value built by WLMail contact data fields. It will consist of the first match found during the analysis of the data fields in the following order:

    1. Nickname
    2. First name + last name (in the order specified to sort by in the Contacts window)
    3. First name or last name
    4. Company
    5. E-mail address
As you start typing in of... box, WLMail will present a list of matching entries in your contacts list. You can start typing username, first name, first name, company, e-mail address to a contact or any significant word in the Notes field for this contact. So, if you type bil, for example, the list that appears will include
    • any person whose nickname starts with Bil, e.g. Billyboy
    • any person whose first name begins with Bil, e.g. of Bilbo Baggins
    • anyone whose first name begins with Bil, for example Jim Bilko
    • everyone whose company name starts with Bil, e.g. Billingsgate Market
    • everyone with an address of e-mail from bil bil or just after a period or the ' @' symbol, for example "the bilbo at hotmail dot com" or "jim to billingsgate dot com" or "jim.bilko at hotmail dot com.
    • all categories whose name contains a word starting with bil

If this does not solve your problem, please post your question in the forum dedicated to contacts in Windows Live Mail.

  • creation of message lists of contacts from address book

I follow the indicated procedure - selected new mailing-list - he gave a name - close - the problem at this point is that the title of the mailing list does not appear in the pane on the left, but at the top of the list of addresses to the address book used. I can then select contacts to go to the mailing list, but cannot drag and drop them in the sketch. So there's no way to verify what are the contacts in the new mailing list

In address book, it shows as a subfolder. If you develop you will see in the left pane.
Write, touch-pane you see what is in your list, unless you do a right click on it and properties

Your list is not a floating list of addresses, it contains links (only) his address book "master."

  • import address book - names do not - even with only one name only

I've simplified the import csv for first name and last name only. The import in TB shows map everything is OK, but when the address book is seen there are no names listed. A name can be searched but not shown. Totally puzzled.

I want Outlook to tuberculosis, but it is a real blocker.

I tried the process on two PCs one running XP the other 7 with the same result.

Tell me, when you open the address book is there a list of imported address or anything like that at all.

Note there is first a final and full name. This is the display name that appears in the lists. In the absence of the display name of the part of the address of e-mail before the @ is displayed.

I speak a little CSV and clean up the content here http://thunderbirdtweaks.blogspot.com.au/2013/03/importing-csv-files.html

  • How can I get my address book in alphabetical order?

My address book is not sorted. I need to see/sort on 'Email' whenever I need to access. Then and only then to find an e-mail address. I have to do this EVERY time I send an email. After that I go back to Thunderbird, the email addresses are blurred again. FWIW, I have deleted the address book profile and reimported it. But it makes no difference.

  • I can organize my address book in folders?

I finally got a PC with Windows 7. I used XP with Outlook Express for a dozen years and wish I could organize my address book in folders. However, Outlook Express is released with Windows 7. Now, I'm trying to figure out how to put my email addresses in files for ease of use. Is this possible?

Address books do not use records.

You can manually create any number of address books in the address book.
Think of the "address book" as a paper address book.
For example, you can create a different address books to organize contacts by
    for example:
A letter, for example: "one - contact".
OR where the family name is grouped:
    A - M and N - Z
or separate into different address books:
for example: keep the contacts of the family in the "personal address book".
Create an another address book for 'Friends', another for "Business" etc.

You create a new address book here:

    • Click "address book".
    • File > new > address book

    Mailing lists:
Any address book may also have one or more "mailing lists".
The contacts that you want to put in a mailing list must be in the associated address book and have a valid email address.
Mailing lists are used when you want to send an e-mail to a specific contact group.
More information about the mailing lists:

  • After you selected and copied AddressBook addresses, how can I then paste them elsewhere for example in an address book of a greeting card site.

It will take me a lot of time to write many e-mail addresses, and then type each one in the address book of the site greeting card.

If the greeting card site to import addresses (usually in CSV or LDIF format), you can export your address book to a file and then import it on the site.

To export an individual address book, try the following steps:
Of the Treasury Board, click "Address book" (or 3-bar menu-> tools-> address book)
In the list in the left pane address books, click the one you want to export
In the menu bar, select Tools-> Export. A new "Export address book" window will open
Enter the name of file, navigate to the folder where you want to store. Click 'save '.
This will export only the selected address book and not others
