Adobe hiding filled my boot disk space

Hello

My computer I informed recently that my boot drive was full, I searched all records, even cleaned my computer files, and yet 871GB used my GB 999.

Discovered it's my Adobe caches (folder Application Support > Adobe > commune > media Cache files).

I'm afraid to remove all the and don't have my program not flowing normally.

How can I do this?

Also, should I install my caches to go somewhere else - I'm not familiar with the implementation of a scratch disk.

How can I set this up better after I fix it to avoid this problem in the future?

Thanks in advance!

PrPro uses the cache and the media cache files strongly... in fact, this is a section that is often suggested having his own drive in a computer with multiple disks spinning hard-drive. I have a flash drive SSD internal dedicated caching of files. They can be deleted ok. And regularly may be to free up space on your computer.

Go to your preferences menu item, the media tab... I would say by clicking on 'clean up' first before trying to move. Close & restart PrPro, then come back here & set the media Cache and Cache database to another drive, you can have. And it of ok to clean it occasionally, as PrPro will rebuild what suits him, can add a few moments in a project to rebuild. But yes, these can accumulate at times.

5 Lightroom takes half of my boot disk space.  What can I do?

    The files include catalog.ircat, ircat-journal, log.ircat.lock, backups, preview.irdata...

The presence of the journal and the locking file indicates that you are trying to pass the folder with Lightroom running.

This is not going to work. Close to Lightroom, and then copy the folder on the external drive.

Once you have all this work, you can delete the original folder.

So I bought a new macbook pro 15 "two days ago, I installed not anything on it so its own.

    Hi there Zenorthodox,

Looks that you can't install Windows on your computer because boot camp keeps giving you this error message. I would like to first take a look at this info in the following article:

Boot Camp: The problems of creation of partition

If you have problems creating a Windows partition, check the following:

    • Before installing Windows, the disk on your Mac must be a single partition to Mac OS extended (journaled) format. If the disc has more than one partition, you need to repartition it.
    • The disc on your Mac must be an internal drive. You may not use the Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows on an external drive.
    • If you have a Mac Pro with more than one internal drive and want to install Boot Camp on a drive that is not in the first hard drive Bay remove readers in the bays of lower numbers. You can reinstall the drives after installing Boot Camp.

If none of this applies to you or does not help you solve the problem I would then use disk utility to verify and repair the disk:

Disk utility (El Capitan): a disc repair

  • dual-boot apps and saving disk space

I remember there was a trick to save disk space during dual-boot installation of applications on the same location on both operating systems, although it did not always work due to its location different %APPDATA%\microsoft\windows\sendto in Windows 9 X and XP. Was this something more to the other case pointing to the directory \program files on the C drive instead of the D drive? It's been a while since I used it and I think that I forgot something important. As the problem of recycling bin.

In addition, at - it someone remind if one of the following conditions has had problems using the trick?

    Applications:
Open Office 2.42 (latest version 98, I could just installing OO3 place)
Office 97 (might install Office 2003 instead, I like it better and it can read the docx)
    WinRAR
Printing 5.0 (version of Windows 95, will not install on Vista on my other machine, but works under virtualPC)

    Games:
all games of the Infinity Engine (Baldur's Gate series) and Icewind Dale series
    Final Fantasy VII (FF7)
    Final Fantasy VIII (FF8)
Pool of Radiance: ruins of Myth Dranor (reflection, with the issues surrounding this match, I don't try, I'll just boot 98)
    Starfleet Command
    Starfleet Command II:Empires at War
Expansion of Starfleet Command II: Orion Pirates

  • Windows Vista PC keeps filling the disk space

Windows Vista PC keeps filling the disk space, but programs like Treesize and Windows Explorer are not all of the additional files.

The disc has about 45 GB of files, but the 220 GB drive is almost full. I suspect that a program will create orphaned files. CHKDSK is currently suspended from the second pass. Will try to run until the end of the day to the next.

I turned on the hidden files and protected, it is not that I can't see the files. What can account for 150 + GB of invisible disk space?  Indexing of Windows seems to be active, although the C drive was marked to not be indexed.

I know that a temporary internet file (content.ie5) is doubly hidden. Who had only 50 MB in it, so it's not the culprit. Any other hidden super-fichiers that everyone knows.

Running Trend Micro PC-Cillin. The history of this creation of orphaned files?

All the tools that look right at the MFT to see what is using the disk space and the avoidance of the directory tree?

This isn't a matter of a few directories being wholesale, or clean old files. The space used is not anywhere to be found.

Already run cleaning ccleaner and disk. Empty temporary files, Recycle Bin, etc. Only restore point. Registry clean with ccleaner.

Never did anything on computer that could use 150 GB of space.

If you look at just the computer, you can see disappearing disk space (maybe 1 GB an hour).

Always seems to happen if you disconnect from the internet.

Friend PC, so I did not have immediate access to it.

Whence the free number 'space '? I'm just that an orphan file will not be displayed in a search in directories or with Treesize, but will use up to 'free space '?

    No sign of a virus.

    Hello

Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

I suggest to refer to the article and try to defragment the hard disk:

Improve performance by defragmenting your hard drive

I understand that you have already scanned the hard drive with anti-virus software, although I suggest you try to run an online scan and check if it helps:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Let us know if it helps.

  • Error code 1711 - an error occurred when writing information on the installation disk. Check of course make disk space is available during the installation of updates for java, adobe, iTunes

    Original title: Error1711

    Hi all

I apologize in advance if this question has already been asked. I could not find if it has.

I got ill of updates on some installation programs, java, adobe, iTunes. When I try to install the update, I get an error saying that there is not enough disk space. This computer is 1 month with a 1Terabyte HD, running Windows 7 x 64. I have 882 GB of free space.

I feel that it is probably a mistake with the TEMP files, but I am unable to find the location of the file. I ran system restore, CCleaner and disk cleanup all to nothing does not. I don't know why I can't find the C:\Windows\System32\Installer file, but I can't.

If you can help point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi GoGreen83,

As MVP TaurArain mentioned that the problem is related to the Windows Installer, I suggest you try the following steps:

Step 1: Unregister and then reregister Windows Installer

1 registration of Windows Installer. To do this, click Start, type run, click Run, type msiexec /Unregister in the Open box, and then click OK.

    2. reregister Windows Installer. To do this, click Start, type run, click Run, type msiexec /regserver/regserver in the Open box, and then click OK.

Step 2: Auditor of file system (CFS) scan to fix all of the corrupted system files. To do this, follow the steps mentioned in the link below:

How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Now check if the problem is resolved

    Deleting temporary files

Disk Cleanup should take care of temporary files, Temp location C:\Windows\Temp

Click Start > type Temp in the search box and press on enter, clear the contents of the folder

Similarly, type folder under search and delete temporary files

  • Adobe log files consume disk space

Twice since Saturday, I received messages from system Windows to be out of disk space. I traced the issue to an accumulation of Adobe log files in < username > \AppData\Local\Temp C:\Users\ named adobegc < date > < time .log >. These log files are created at the rate of once per hour and most are about 6.5 GB in size, except the log files created between 03:00 and noon are 0 bytes. Usually, my 500 GB hard drive is about half full. I can remove the logs, but I don't know how to prevent them from accumulating in a first time.

I have the following Adobe products installed:

    Acrobat CC

    AIR

    Creative cloud

    Dreamweaver CC 2015

    Extensions Manager

    CS6 Fireworks

Flash Player 19 (NPAPI and PPAPI)

    Help Manager

    Illustrator CC 2015

    Reader XI

First of all, this problem occurred on 26. Creative cloud had been updated to the latest version on the 24th. Adobe AIR and Flash Player are both set to day 26. No other applications have been updated recently.

What should I do to fix this?

    Hello

I deleted 'original guard' and yet Adobe Revel Library is always significantly weigh down my computer.

What can I do to remedy the situation?

    Thank you

    Rosebud5624

    Hi Vanya,

Although disabling 'Keep the originals' stop Revel Mac to record your images, the app will still collect the small thumbnails when you cruise around the grid view or save the previews when you open images in the Loupe. This amount of data is very low, although shouldn't the your plan tax too.

Also, turning off keep the originals do not purge them the originals you already saved. Those who remain on your system. If you want to purge those to recover disk space, let me know and I'll tell you there.

  • Adobe PSE of available disk space

I am trying to moving images (using Move in Windows) of my HDD on an external hard drive. Once completed, it is always an image of the picture remaining in Adobe PSE that is not connected. I have not deleted from the catalog again.

My question is, is this image an identical copy of the original? If this is not the case, what would be the hard disk space that it is care compared to the original?

Please note this is not my backup, but uses the external hard drive to store files, I use rarely.

    Thank you

You should certainly not use Windows to move photos that were imported in the Organizer. This disconnects the photos. You won't be able to do anything with photos of organizer before you reconnect. There are several ways to reconnect photos. Once solve you this problem, you must only use the Organizer to move photos from one album to another. Location of folder view (alt-ctrl-3) to do this.

Your photos are not and have never been in the Organizer.  They exist on your hard drive, and organizing contains a pointer to the actual photo. The picture you see in the Organizer is a small thumbnail, not your original photo, which remains on your hard drive where you put it. The thumbnail takes only a little space.

  • Photo library takes more space on an external drive on the boot disk.

All of my library of Photos takes about 370 GB of space on the disc to start my computer, but when I moved it to an external, the entire group is about 670 GB. While not an immediate concern, I would like to know why there is that much of a size difference.

Hard to say since you provide nothing except a problem - a wild guess is that you migrated from iPhoto and moved to the library of Photos for the EHD breaking hard links which allowed them to share the same original and previews ( Photos saves disk space to share images with your iPhoto or Aperture - Apple Support libraries ) and iPhoto - if it's that time they each need their copy doubling storage needs
