Adobe Illustrator - direct selection tool - Question

Hello community.

I was watching a tutorial and practice on logo design and I ran into a problem on my end. I am sure this is a setting which is not enabled or maybe something I am doing wrong.

The first image (image1.jpeg - black object) I understand the tutorial is. In it the person who gives the tutorial completely selects the object (two separate polygons; divorced by the way) and you will see white radial points appear on the corners of the two forms. He then produced click on the corners, he wants and every radial white disappear and only appears with selection of the corners he wants.

The second photo (image2.jpeg - green object), I understand comes from my adobe Illustrator. In it, when I do the exact same steps as above radial white dials do not appear. In fact, only the anchor points of all edges appear only.

Please advise on how to get the white radial dials to show. Please accept my apologies before hand so I didn't name anything correctly.

It doesn't have to be a direct form. The widgets corner (as they are called) have been introduced in Illustrator CC and can be activated with a view > Show corner Widget.

Using the direct Selection (white arrow) moving on an anchor, they appear, but even if the anchor is selected the blue anchor box disappears as soon as the mouse moves away, so its impossible to select a handle.  I can still pass an anchor, but it is difficult to select two anchors attached paths, etc., somehow as lead a blind man.  If I click on a path, and then hold down the command key, hollow anchor box appear and the cursor turns into the selection tool.  Trough areas appear on the selection using the selection tool (black arrow).  I'm pretty direct selection tool was working properly last week (am a casual user).

I fear she is only in the later version.

You can update. The latest version is 19.2 (who has some problems (GPU), so you can consider 19.1.1 also.

  • Cannot see the whole picture when you move into a smaller template with the direct Selection tool

    Hello!

I recently got my laptop cleaned in preparation for examinations and such (I'm in high school). As I belong to art class, when Basic programs have been re-installed we also got the Adobe programs, but we got the CC 2015 version instead of the version CS5, we had earlier. After a stressful week, I finally had time to sit and work on my projects aside, but I quickly found a big problem which stops at my work. After re size the image at the size I want, I don't see the whole picture when I move in the smallest area with the direct Selection tool more. Photos I use are generally quite large, that I've tried to work with now are 451mmx338mm after the scaling down and I have a 'framework of standard departure' to 60mmx15mm (I make the bosses), so now I have basically has to guess my way toward a good composition...

Can I make it work again?

Click on the image and hold the pointer of the mouse for a while. And then drag.

  • ESC of Type instead of the Selection tool, direct selection tool

After you have changed the type with the text tool, is there a way to set Illustrator for the direct instead of the selection tool Select tool when you press the Escape key?

On mac, it use to be command-tab to switch to the other tool selection and back after you access current selection tool while in one different tool other then the selection tool as the pen tool do you now turn back on first press and hold the command key down if the selection tool and you want the direct Selection tool to hold the option tab keys as well as the command key that is then to select the direct Selection tool, the direct Selection tool will be available whenever you hold down the control key if you want to come back and do the same thing.

They are a weird combination of keys, but there you go.

  • Direct Selection tools issues

My selection tool does not work properly. I can select an object and resize it, but I can't move it. I have reset the preferences and even reinstalled InDesign, without success. The objects are not locked and they are not on master pages. If I use the direct Selection tool and select all the external points of the object, I can move it, but this is obviously not an ideal job around! This problem occurs with the new AND old files. I'm working on a big project, so I HAVE to get this figured out ASAP. Help, please!

The direct Selection tool is designed for use of vector path.

If you want to use the tool, you can get your selection by going to the Panel traced and clicking the work path make the symbol at the bottom of the Panel, a path

Then, if you choose, you can click the load path as a selection symbol to return to the moving dotted line (rasterized).

  • Direct Selection tool. PS CC hangs at each time a modified form. Suggestions?

I am currently using the latest version of PS CC - set to update to the latest "bugs" and all.

Whenever I use the direct Selection tool, I select points of a shape, the PS crashes and closes automatically without fail.

Are there any suggestions as to what I can do to fix this? Thanks for any help

It's the only time wherever it crashes?  What are your system specs and OS?

Take a look on your GPU settings in Preferences > performance?  Try the ' use GPU acceleration?  Also look in the advanced settings and try to change those.  If it helps, then look to update your video card manufacturer's Web site card reader.

Pointers when I try to be as specific as possible when I want to refine my curves, sometimes in the way...

Y at - it a keyboard shortcut that I could press to hide the pointers, while I'm trying to place my curves?

I hope pfaffenbichler and Christmas answers can help you. Currently there is no option to hide the pointer when you use the direct Selection tool.
