  You can try a repair of your Acrobat installation. Maybe, at least it's a start toward a solution.

  My PC operating system is Win XP (SP3).

  I have been using Adobe Reader 11 without problems.  Recently, he would not open the pdf files. So I decided to uninstall it and install a new download.

  I've seen this happen when opening a program via a shortcut (for example. LNK file), you are asked what type of program to open it with. After selecting Adobe Reader or Acrobat (or another program) via the Select a program from a list of programs installedand check always use the selected program to open this type of file, the program referenced by the shortcut of origin or document opens in Adobe as it should.

  The problem is that now all shortcuts (for example.   Pat, I downloaded and ran the clean utility, a then attempted to install the three versions of Adobe Reader available on the link you provided, uninstall and install necessary. I have experienced the same problem with all versions. I spoke to a colleague what was going on, and he told me reinstall Adobe Reader XI and try to start it. After you get the same result, he asked me to look at the event viewer. We have seen the entry below. I navigated to the C:\Program Files (x 86) folder \Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\ and double-click on the Eula.exe. It displays the end-user license agreement window, and I clicked on "accept". After doing this, I was able to start the drive without problem, and everything seems to work fine now. Pretty weird. In any case, I thought that I'll let you know in case it has provided useful information. It may be just a weirdism on my laptop. He woudn't will certainly be the first. It's a Lenovo Thinkpad and I've renamed a Stinkpad, for good reason.   Core Duo processors don't support 64-bit. Basically, if you can run OS 10.7, CS6 apps are very good. Your machine will work not 10.7 (due to lack of 64 bit support). You need to a Core 2 Duo or higher. If you indeed have a processor Intel Core Duo MacBook Pro, much older than 3 or 4 years. The Core Duo MacBookPros were machines of 2006.

  I have good news and bad news.

  The good news is that the file opens correctly here in CS5.5 and CS4. The bad news is that this means that there is a problem with your CS4.

  I would start by trashing preferences. It's quick, easy to make and not too destructive, and if you're lucky, it will be able to solve the problem, but I would not put the chances of success more than 50-50. See replace your preferences

  You have a Time Machine backup? If you do, the next thing I'd like to try restoring the application folder InDesign from a time before the problem started.

  If all else fails, it's probably time to bite the bullet and get out of the installer. First try to run an installation to 'fix' on top of what's there. If this, too, goes down, then I would like to uninstall CS4, run the CS5 own tool (which can also clean up to CS4 - see resolve installation problems with the cleanup of CS5 tool), and then restart the computer and reinstall. If you have any custom stuff you must make copies of things like shortcut games and workspaces that you can replace as explained in the thread about resetting the prefs.

  After all the CS6 Master Collection installed, each application runs smoothly except AE, and the icon looks like this:
