    Dump Norton and get something decent.

    In the meantime:

    Search for malware:

    Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

    Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

    Search online with eSet Online Scanner. Delete everything is found.

    Reset.

    The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

    Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know using Google (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

    You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

    1. Click round Windows logo in the taskbar to bring up the Start Menu.
    2. In the search box, type firefox.exe - safe-mode and press ENTER.
    3. If small Firefox Safe Mode window opens, click the start Safe Mode button.

  • How run a background app to LV, but retain the ability to shoot to the top of the façade?

    I'm trying to run an application that I wrote in the background on Windows computers I own, but I don't want people using these computers (friends + parents) notice or disrupting the application. However, I don't want that just run seamlessly (property node); I want to be able to call to the top of the front face, when I need to. A perfect example would be to minimize it to the system tray, with options to right click for the loading of the façade.

    There is an example of it being made here, but it's more than four years, so I don't know if there is a newer, better practice to follow.

  • Windows Update always running in background

    Hi all

    I am running Vista and have reformatted and reinstalled three times in the last four or five months.  Whenever I installed, the pc works fine for a while then after a windows update, I don't know which, I start getting a lot of substantive activity on my hard drive.  This activity relates the mouse so much that sometimes it won't let me move it for 10 to 20 seconds.  Even with the keyboard.

    After each reinstallation, I load Vipre, to update and run a security analysis. Can I update Vista with each patch MS listed as critical or recommended before installing other software.  Now, all that is loaded is MS Office, Adobe Web Premium, Sony Ebook Library and some printer drivers.

    Manager tasks indicates little activity, 1-3% on each of the 4 hearts.  I restarted in safe mode, just to see if it might be something that takes over and I have the same problem in safe mode.  Lock the mouse and the hard disk activity.  Again, all the security scans show nothing other than a few cookies.

    I saw in other Councils there have been problems with either Windows Update has blocked upwards or with the MS .net framework installed.

    Someone has seen this before and if yes is there a solution that doesn't require a reformat and reinstall?

    Thanks in advance,
    Eric

    I'm still confused why you say "Windows Update is always running in the background" If you have not confirmed it.

    After a clean install, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer". After each cleaning installed, you take care of everything on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or a network otherwise and before using a USB or SD card that was not brand new, or had not been freshly formatted?

    The foregoing notwithstanding:

    On the Vista partition:

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    On the partition of Windows XP:

    4. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    5. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    6. double-click on the file that you saved in #4 above to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

  • Replace/upgrade my router after purchase/adding a 'Smart' to my network TV and now have a noise to connect/disconnect running in background.

    Original title: connect/disconnect sounds in the background

    I had to replace/upgrade to update my wifi router after purchase/adding a 'Smart' to my network TV and now have a noise to connect/disconnect running in the background, on something, every few minutes.  It does not affect the operation of my computer, but it is very annoying. Cut the old router market and connect and disconnect before replacement, but did not any noise so I don't think it is related to that.  I can't find any evidence of the old router on the computer anyway.  I hope you can help me!

    Hi Danielle65,

    You can try the following steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

    You can also perform a clean boot and check if it helps.

    A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

    You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

    How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

    Note: Make sure that you put the computer to a Normal startup once you are finished.

    Method 2:

    You can also check in Event Viewer about what is causing the problem. Alternatively, you can publish the results, so that we can help you solve the problem.

    Open event viewer

    What are the information contained in the logs of the event (Event Viewer)

  • Running the background (sms listening thread) connected to the GUI (another point of entry) application thread

    Hi, I'm new to the development of Blackberry, I read everything on the application running at startup and have a different point of entry for this application. I still need help with my application

    I use BB JDE 4.7

    Simulator: BB 9530 4.7.0

    I'm developing an application of SMS. (extends UiApplication)

    1) there is a thread that listens for incoming messages

    2) there is a wire which is a SMS sender

    3) there is a main screen and two full screens. for example, when the user clicks a button in one of the screens full... I send you a message

    (4) when a message is received, based on the content of the message I push either a full screen

    (5) I have, all the wires and screens as the class internal to the main class that extends from the UiApplication.

    I got the basic features. I need help making that demand the application of autostartup

    (1) I need to start listening to the sms thread when the BB phone starts

    (2) I need to have the application icon in the applications screen as another entry point for the application (only for the GUI), and the listening thread must remain active in the background.

    (3) when an incoming message is detected, the application GUI should be brought to the foreground (if it isn't already forground) after posting a popup (instead of bring the application to the foreground, is it better to display a flashing icon in the status bar of the home screen blackberry and perhaps global popup)

    (4) when the GUI of the application part is closed, I need to stop the sms sending thread, and when the system shuts down, I need to stop the listening thread.

    Please help me guys... I have read many articles and discussions regarding the automatic start-up of applications, another point of entry, the # of background threads...

    but I couldn't find how to implement my needs.

    (1) should I need to create two different projects (applications [GUI thread, a sender] and one for the listening thread)? or I can achieve in single application?

    (2) should I have to sign in the background thread to the GUI app? If so, how?

    (3) it is necessary to use the RunTimeStore object? If so, I don't know how I can bring to the foreground the application GUI of the background thread.

    (4) if I have to stop the thread of listening by overiding onExit() method, the important question I have is, if the onExit() method is only for applications that extends from the Application class and not for the UiApplication class?

    (5) if I should have two projects (one main and the other as a spare point entry), which project should I do as "autorun at startup" and a "system module".

    As I need to have the background still running thread when the GUI application is active. I don't know how I do.

    Hello world...

    I reached my needs thanks to a single application. I used an other entry point.

  • Browser running in background

    Hello

    I made a simple application that opens a Web page (link type).

    The problem is that in some models of BB, the browser starts and runs in the background, it seems that the application does not work.

    This is the code:

    public class bBB extends UiApplication {}
    Public Shared Sub main (String [] args) {}
    bBB PAP = new bBB();
    theApp.enterEventDispatcher ();
    }
    public bBB() {}
    pushScreen (new TEST());
    }
    }

    final class TEST extends form {}
    public TEST() {}
    Super();
    Private private = Browser.getDefaultSession ();
    browserSession.displayPage ("http://www.google.com/");
    System.Exit (0);
    }
    }

    How can I solve it?

    Thank you

    I've seen the same behavior. My guess is that some pages are not displayed properly, so the browser does not come to the foreground.

    You can check the foreground process and push the browser in the foreground, if it is not visible now.

    net.rim.device.api.system.ApplicationManager

    requestForeground(int processId)
    Sends a foreground request to application with specified process ID.

  • Application running on background

    It is now possible to BB10 for an application to run in the background in native/cascades? I see that there is on the platform of html5...

    https://developer.BlackBerry.com/HTML5/documentation/rim_permit_element.html

    That is natively too... permissions are not specific to any one SDK.

    It isn't really the full capacity "background" many people want to, however, as the application window should still be open for that to be useful. It simply means that when the application is reduced it can still get some of the CPU instead of freezing basically.

  • BBM No. BBM Notification when running in background apps

    Dear Blackberry admin,

    I am very happy when heard the news that my windows phone can install BBM, after waiting for more than 10 months after the version of android.

    I use nokia lumia 720 and already installed the BBM not the beta version.

    What bothered me, that's when it goes on the bottom, I'm not receiving any incoming notification message. When I open the BBM apps all of a sudden all the messages came.

    is there anyone in this forum has this experience and to solve this part of problem please, me, thank you.

    You happen to have battery saver turned on? If so, turn it off, test and let me know the results.

    Raison d'etre, when battery saver is enabled, applications are not allowed to run in the background so that you can only send and receive messages using BBM surveys at its opening. To check on the home screen, flick to the left to the list of applications, select settings and battery saver. Thank you!

  • Applications running in background blackBerry Smartphones?

    Is their an option to use that will let me know what the app running in the background, i.e. applications 3rd party, GPS, so now...  I feel the battery use incompatible with the use of compatible phones. I know how to check each of them separately... But was wondering if I can see in 1 list which is running and what does not work...

    Thank you

    The app selector will show you the apps that are always included in the list of the app switch or running. Touch the BB and you will get a pop-up window of the maneuver of the app. Some may not be closed, 3rd party applications generally do not fall in this area, however.
