Advanced replication monitor

Hello
We have advanced replication between two Master set up sites, this configuration also is aimed at DR solution as replication sites located in different cities. My question is that in case of disaster, how can we determine when was the last 'push' that we have obtained from the other site...
To develop more... For example we have advanced replication between Melbourne and Sydney, and "sydney" goes down... How can we say (sql query) when was the last time we got the 'push' of sydney success in Melbourne...
and the reasoning for this question must answer the question of Exec which is the scenario of loss of data in Sydney...

Thank you
Manu

Hello

There are probably ways you could accomplish something like this using a combination of opinion of replication queue, but I don't know what either "out of the box" for replication that offers this possibility, I'm sorry.

Thank you
Paul

    Hi experts,

I don't have much experience in Oracle. Please tell me what is "Oracle Streams" in simple words. What is use of this example.

difference between "Oracle Streams, advanced and advanced replication queues".

    Reg,

    Hard

    Hi harsh,

I'll try and simply summarize for you.

    (1) advanced replication - the ancient mode of replication of data between databases - no one really uses this method more (even if it's still there)

    (2) AQ (or now renamed as streams AQ I think) is a technology of queues for the publication and subscription to messages - it is not a replication method on its own, but is a key technology for manufacturing workflow

    (3) water - a replication technology course complete with a huge amount of flexibility (and complexity) - one of the best tools of the oracle set product - but it is now be depracated in favor of goldengate (in large part because GG is a costly option, personally, I think)

    (4) goldengate - just like rivers but can replicate to/from databases (Sql server, sybase etc.) non-oracle

streams and goldengate roughly the same work but are implemented very differently - flow is much plsql and queues, GG is to learn another language (although scripting tool really)

    hope that helps.

    See you soon,.

The system that I administer currently Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control to General administration, but he had to keep the old based on java Enterprise Manager to manage advanced replication. (All of the databases is currently Oracle 10 g. We plan to upgrade the databases up to 11g Release 2. The context is a central database with 16 knots that have views materialized update-able over them to subsets of the data.)

I do research moving to Oracle Enterprise Manager 11 g. Manage Advanced Replication? Otherwise, what Oracle tool now provide or support for advanced replication management? The URL of a white or manual book or article would be a great help.

  • Have W2071d monitor, display settings do not allow non-native resolution matrices

'' Recommended '' this monitor width setting is 1600 X 900, but when I go to the "Display" dialog box, the only options available to me are that were available using my old monitor.

The monitor "selected" for common use (under "Advanced"-> tab monitor in the "Display settings" dialog box) is dangerously just labeled "Default monitor", and while the system produces to the monitor, it only does these original native resolutions, so that, under factory settings, the image is stretched horizontally to a significant degree, and when I put it to adapt to the proportions rather He's a little blur hired on small fonts/texts during the largest possible display setting, almost as if I ask it to produce makes me superior to output 1-to-1 ratio of pixels and the entire surface of the monitor is not being used anyway.

In any case, the button/dialog box 'Properties' is not yet available on the tab 'monitor' breast, so I can't try to update the driver. I don't really know what to do at this point. In addition, the computer now tells me whenever I start that he detected new hardware connected, but it may not recognise, does not support installation at home, but whenever I try to point it to the drivers it tells me that the file contain no information about my hardware device.

VGASave is the 'default' for Windows XP driver if there is no other driver available for the system. It is possible that some sort of error, or maybe an automatically Windows Update installed, breaking your graphics card driver. I would certainly try reinstall the driver as a first step of troubleshooting.

Here is a link to the latest version of the driver for the Radeon XPress for Windows XP series:

  • Two monitors... two jobs?

With two monitors, it seems that I can't get the same desktop on each monitor. Is a great way to have a different office on each monitor?

Not natively in Windows. You can do it with third party software. UltraMon is excellent but fresh. DisplayFusion is very nice and it's free. Some video cards include advanced multiple monitors manipulation in their drivers so look in your control panel. NVIDIA's nView and ATI probably has something like this in their Catalyst Control Panel. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Replication of VSphere marked as non-active

    Dear all,

I configured the SRM connection between two sites. I have them paired with success and set up the connection to VR.

Problem is when I put a replication for certain one VM, once the wizard is finished, vsphere replication monitor displays status - not Active. The events and tasks of the VM, I found the following warning:

No connection to the server of VR: do not answer

I am able to ping/telnet port 80 two of these machines of this virtual machine replication.

Could you please help me solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Aleksandar Aleksandrov

    Hi again,

    OK, here's the problem.

Basically when pair you it with DR site both VR servers are to exchange information between them for example VRS server target. So in this case you end up with the following situation:

    (1) VRS on the DR site has different IP address than the Production site

    (2) production site ESXi tries to connect to VRS IP at the Dr site not directly through your port transfer machine

    (3) what makes the replication to go to idle state

Please check the messages in the vmkernel.log file located in your source ESXi machine. Here's a useful KB KB VMware: VMware vSphere troubleshooting replication problems that might be useful.

    Thank you

  • Replication of vSphere SRM - replica of the lack of virtual machines

    Hello

I use SRM with vSphere replication and all my virtual machines are properly replicated from my site for my recovery.site as you can see:

    Capture10.png

My problem is that I don't see all the replica of the VMs replicated in the inventory of the recovery site:

    Capture2.PNG

So when I was looking for in the web client vSphere replication monitor, I saw that all the virtual machines that are in the inventory of the recovery site are all managed by SRM. And all virtual machines managed by VR finally does not appear in the inventory.

    Capture3.PNG

Someone at - it never I have this problem or know the solution?

    Concerning

Hello and welcome to the community of VMware

The behavior you describe is planned. Between VR and SRM, is SRM work to create what is called 'space reserved VM' on the recovering site.

If replicate you a virtual machine using vSphere replication but skip protection by SRM, there is no virtual machine being recorded on the recovering Site until you run the RV GUI recovery operation.

Can I ask you why do you need to see the virtual machine on the recovering site? Even if it is there, you are not able to turn on.

  • What is the diff between replication and streams

    Hello
Can someone tell me the difference between replication and Oracle streams, when I look in the documentation, it says to use the Console of EM Oracle to set up the Replication. But I'm not sure how, I download the EM Console of Oracle.

Thanks to anyone who responds to this.

Technically there is no relationship between the so-called "Advanced" replication and water courses. They were built by different development using totally different technologies teams. AR is materialized views and triggers... Watercourse is AQ, LogMiner and RMAN.
