  • Files with the help of Transcend F25 external USB Drive: copy, but I don't see that empty folders (disk size indicates that the files are still there, though)

    Hello-

I use Windows 7 Professional and everything seems to work very well. I joined my new Transcend f25 USB (300g) to use for backups. I copied on about 20 concerts of archives and had run Windows it's first backup.

Everything seemed fine, and the available space on the disc is now about 230g, that sounds right. The problem is I see only empty folders on disk!

Now, I know with certainty that the files are there because I tried to plug the drive in an old laptop XP - bingo there was all my files! Can someone advise me? This seems to be a configuration problem, or maybe a drive error. The files were there when I added in the first place, however, is very strange!

How can I see my files? Help!

    Thanks, Dave

Check the disk for errors by using this procedure.
    1. open the computer by clicking the Start button, click computer.

2 - Click on the drive you want to check, and then click Properties.

    3. click on the Tools tab and then, under check for errors, click Find now.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

To automatically repair problems with files and folders that the scan detects, select automatically fix file system errors. Otherwise, the disk check will be a problem, but not to fix them.

To perform a thorough check, select search and attempt to recover bad sectors. This analysis tries to find and repair physical errors on the disk itself, and it may take much longer to complete.

To check for errors file and the physical errors, select both automatically fix errors in file system and search for and attempt recovery of bad sectors.

    4. click on start.

    Kind regards.

  • I turned on my computer this evening and all my files are gone. All images, office documents, everything. Then, a low disk space window kept popping up. Is it all the same to recover lost files and how can I fix the disk space is low?

System Restore and the temporary files can be placed on your hard drive, but can easily be recovered.

You can start disk cleanup, by doing one of the following:

      -or-

    • Click Start, point to programs, point to Accessories, point to System Toolsand then click on Disk Cleanup.

  • Backup did not run on a laptop before be recreated now the files are corrupted after recovering the data.

I ran a data recovery software that has found a lot of the loss of the files but the files are now corrupted. It is very important for these files restored to their original condition and work. Have tried many files repair software, coding and a simple fix with the "Open and repair" feature in XP. What would be the last result and hopfully more here on success?

I'm afraid that you have learned a painful lesson about the importance of backing up your system.  When you got your system back as you, I invite you to buy an external hard drive, and a good backup 3rd party program. You can configure it to automatically do everything in time and frequency of your choice. 1.5 TB external hard drives is about $90 these days and a very good FREE backup program is the Easeus todo backup free that you can download from
http://www.todo-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm . Who can make you save a lot of time and frustration, the next time something like this happens. Sooner or later, it happens to all computers for one reason or another.

    Good luck.

  • The files are gone and now get error 0 x 8007005 on restore

At some point between Saturday morning and Sunday night, all the files on my internal HD (non - C drive) disappeared. The drive still saves and reads the files, but I don't know why the files are missing. I pretty much wasn't home all weekend so I remember any specific mistakes.

I have 1 catering point from the previous Wednesday. But when I try to restore I get:

"System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an antivirus program is running on the computer temporarily disable your antivirus and restart System Restore. An unspecified error occurred during the restoration of the system (0 x 8007005). »

Things I've done during the last hours of the couple. All 3 steps and be followed with an attempt to system recovery:

    (1) run (found nothing) virus check
    (2) run check rootkit (found nothing)
    (3) off my only known anti-virus (AVG)
    (4) uninstalled AVG
    (5) restart in 'Safe Mode '.
    (6) tried a "clean boot".
    (7) rebooted in safe mode

Whenever I try to restore it, the computer spends 10 minutes on the stage "initialization of reboot", then abandon, going to rebuild the registry and restart. As the computer is not to leave.

I would appreciate any input on either a solution for restoring failed or a way to recover the files randomly disappearing. (I already checked my trash, not there).

    Thank you.

    Hello

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the question and your efforts to resolve.

It is regrettable that disappeared from the local disk files. It can be caused by a virus.

However, you can try to recovering files using the historical file.
    Refer to this article:
Restore files or folders by using the history file
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/how-use-file-history

Please also run Microsoft Security scaout to eliminate any virus or malware in Windows.
    Reference:
    Microsoft safety scanner
    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    I hope this information helps.
