  • Windows 7 reinstall "invalid product key".

I recently started a computer fixing for someone, they got three Dell Optiplex 755 desktop computers, and I got a few pieces of each of them (hard drive, processor, ram cards). I got the computer to boot, but since it's so old and I don't know what is the file system and it is a bit slow, I tried to reinstall Windows. I have the disc to install Windows 7 Professional x 64 and went to control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Recovery\Advanced recovery methods then clicked Reinstall windows. It restarts with the disc and went to the screen configuration, but then stopped and said that you can not install Windows because it has an invalid product key. Don't know why it does, but when I got to do start back when I also got to put in it, it says that Windows needs to be reactivated because of hardware changes, so in PowerShell, I typed in [slmgr-ato]. It worked, and after a reboot the lower right corner of the Office had more "Is not a genuine copy of Windows" on this subject, so I guess it worked. Can someone help me?

  • When reinstalling invalid product key

I'm trying to reinstall my copy of Windows XP Professional OEM, without material change. Invalid product key!

    Help!

Do not confuse letter B with the number 8, letter O with a Q

Check the side of your PC case or at the bottom of the laptop for the
Key OEM code. If there is a sticker with the code, it will probably not
corresponds to what is displayed by the utilities mentioned above as OEM such as
Dell use an internal key code when they build your PC.

The key on the sticker code should be used with your Windows CD
(who came if everything goes well with your PC) If you need to reinstall Windows.

  • INVALID product key code

We had our son cleaned computer and Windows Vista Home Premium reinstalled. He had been use it then all of a sudden he asked the product key code. We walked into what was at the rear of his computer and it is still saying that it is not valid. We tried several times.

Have you done the re-setup, or have you taken it to someone as a computer repair shop?  If someone else did it, restarted the computer to that person and ask them to remedy this by providing a product key valid for the version of Vista that they installed. Boulder computer Maven

  • Reinstall windows on the larger hard drive with the product key, but not drive. PC was custom and retailer out of business.

It is my mother's computer.  She is 90 and is unwilling to learn a new OS.  I want to reinstall XP on a hard disk that has 300 GB and is already installed in the E drive.  His original hard drive is 40 GB and 35 are in use.  I have the original Windows product key but not the windows CD.  the retailer who has built and sold this pc is out of business.  What is the best way to achieve this?

You can borrow a retail XP CD from a friend of yours and activate it using your product key.

Just make sure that if your key is for home then get XP Home etc.

  • Replace hard drive, no readable product key; How to reinstall Windows 7?

I bought a Dell laptop with Windows 7: Home Premium pre-installed a year and half ago.  The hard drive just completely crushed, and I just got a replacement hard drive for it.  The computer did not include a recovery disk, and the product key on the bottom sticker has worn to the point of being unreadable.  How can I reinstall Windows 7 for the new hard drive?

You need to contact DELL technical support about obtaining a replacement product key because they are responsible for the license that is preloaded on your computer.

  • Audio options gone after replacing the hard drive, reinstall Windows and the DVD drivers

I had to replace my hard drive and I reinstalled Windows Vista Home Premium DVD.  Now, I've lost a lot of my audio options.  I used to be able to choose between different styles of sound (i.e. Live, pop, classic, etc.) and I had various effect options.  They are all gone.  I tried to update the drivers in Device Manager, but it says I have the updated driver.

You may need to search the support site of your
The computer manufacturer or the card manufacturer

  • Reinstall Windows 7 on new SSD after failure of hard disk, damaged, incomplete product key

I have a HP Pavilion.  The HARD drive recently failed completely, no possibility to recover data at the moment.  I ordered a set of HP recovery disks, but they seek the recovery on the HARD drive partition; There is no such partition that I replaced the HARD original with a new SSD drive.  To make things worse, the place that HP has chosen to put the Microsoft product key sticker resulted in the product being partially faded key.

So, to summarize: HP not Pavilion with a corrupt OEM HDD and so far no data recovery possible. a new SSD with no partitions on this subject; a set of recovery disks from HP that don't just work; a sticker with the product key with the first two digits of the product key (as well as some of the barcode, etc.) rubbed off because they have chosen to place the sticker on the bottom of a working computer instead of, say, under the battery, it can be protected.

If someone in the community has a suggestion as to how to install Win 7 (must be 7 on this system, cannot be an iteration of 8 or 10) from scratch, without having to buy it and with a corrupt OEM disc and a partial product key, I'd love to hear it.  Maybe it's time to install Debian on it?

Ahh, this is the crux of the problem... the bootmgr is missing.

To restore the windows off the factory restore DVD, you must configure the BIOS to use the DVD drive as the primary boot device. The machine will then start on the first DVD, and you will not get the above message.

  • Dead hard drive and no product key to reinstall

I'm fixing my brother who had the HD from laptop. The guarantee was until a year ago so I'll buy a new HD online and it will be there Friday. Unfortunately, he pulled the windows product key sticker, so now that there is no product key. What should I do now?

just to be sure check the battery compartment. If the COA disappeared there are two choices. purchase of a new license or if windows was preinstalled, then you can order your manufacturer OEM recovery disks. (no key needed, because the OEM SLP key is embedded).

  • Replaced my hard drive and my product key is missing

I just replaced my hard drive on my computer and went through the installation process. I have a legitimate version of windows that was recorded before. This is the same computer, but I can't find my product key for Finnish installation. I tried to call, but the given number cannot be reached in my region... apparently. Is there some way that since then I taped the product key can be recovered? I really need this for school so the sooner the better.

I was searching the Internet and ran across this site: http://windowskeymarket.com they do not always have the key I was looking for this is why I missed it before, it really depends on if they are in the stem. This time they did it. Thanks for the help!

  • Invalid product key, left my computer with a black screen and a cursor of the mouse on the boot.

A few days ago, I tried to upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) to Windows 10 using the free update. Installation hung at 84% for 2 hours, then restarted, was unable to recover the installation and then could not get back to Win 7. This left us with a black screen and a cursor of the mouse on the boot. The computer would remain in this State for about 10 minutes and then reboot and repeat.

Fortunately, or so I thought, I had a few CD Windows installation backup from the back to the era of digital river. So I thought I'd install fresh on my empty partition, copy my files and data, and then format the partition with the installation broken on.

I did, but now he tells me that my product key is not valid and cannot be activated. The product key came on a real label on the PC when we bought it.

The key is for X 16-96072. I installed X 17-58997 (Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 with SP1 (u)). I don't know what is the problem with the key? Should I have installed without the (u)?

One key 25 digits grouped in 5 sequences of 5 characters not X 17-58997.

To analyze and solve problems for Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to the desktop -http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once downloaded, run the tool.
Click on the button continue, after a short time, continue button will change to a copy button.
Click the copy button in the tool (ignore the error at this stage) and then paste (with r-click and paste or Ctrl + V) in your message.
  • How can I reinstall windows 7 after replacing the hard drive?

How can I reinstall windows 7 after replacing the hard drive? do I have to call microsoft or I can retrieve it somehow to the old hard drive?

Well, that certainly puts a different point of view on this subject.

There are data recovery services that can recover data from disks that have suffered from various types of failures. However, they are quite expensive. Unless the data is particularly useful, it is generally not useful.

If your Windows 7 is an OEM version, installed on the computer when you bought it, the manufacturer could have a recovery disk on sale. If it was a retail copy and you always have the appropriate product/serial number, you can get a DVD of their team of parts replacement.

  • How can I reinstall Indesign after that my hard drive has been deleted?

How can I reinstall Indesign after that my hard drive has been deleted?

After obtaining a hard drive in working condition, you can reinstall the software using the discs if you bought the discs, or you can download your software as a trial version and use your original serial number to activate it.

If the software is the latest version, you can download it from the Adobe product pages.

If the software is an older version, you can download the demo version of the software using the link below and then use your current serial number to activate it.

Don't forget to follow the steps described in the Note: very important article Instructions on the pages to download on this site.

(I do not installed new HARD drive yet, but I intend)

    Hey Buddy,

You have created the Toshiba Recovery disk? Perfect!
After Exchange of HARD drive, you need this you to install Windows 7 disc. The Toshiba Recovery disk contains an image of the factory settings, which means that you will have the factory settings on the new HARD drive after the use of the disc. You must boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen.

    > How to access password protected data after relocation?
It would be interesting to know what data you mean exactly.
Before you reinstall Windows, you must back up all data on a disk for example external HARD.
