• After update, Setup does not take place and causes the computer to restart. This process is ongoing.

  Update Vista was wrong somehow. Update restarted the computer. Very slowly, I get to "configuration of the part 3 of 3, 0% complete do not turn off computer" and shortly after the computer restarts and this process repeats continually.   I had a very similar problem after updating to 10.8.2. What worked for me was starting up in recovery of OS X and under my boot repair disk volume. There are a number of scheduled file system errors. After the reboot, VMWare works again and the system has been stable for the last half hour or so.
