After upgrading from Vista created a new documents folder and now ignores the original

Last week I updated my computer (which I believe has an update of the graphics card and some windows stuff) using Windows update and left while he was closing. I guess what he finished close, but as I was leaving for the weekend, I can't be 100% sure and this weekend my house loses power at least once.

As for the problem, at windows startup today made first time setup that works normally when you connect to a user account for the first time. Applications of Sidebar by default loading, the default value of the user interface (that I don't use, so it was the first sign), and I found that on the opera opening, all my favorites and settings were gone.

At the opening of my documents, I found that they were completely empty of content, including all hidden folders where all of my settings the user should be.

Navigation around the computer, I find that this will C:\Users\USERNAME\ my documents are still intact, but are ignored, with all the shortcuts leading to my documents redirect me to the 'new' documents folder, which means that for all purposes useful all my user settings for all programs that store data in the documents have been reset.

Maybe someone has an idea of what may have caused this?  Personally, it's one of the strangest bug I've ever seen in any version of windows, and I'm not sure how I should go to deal with it.

Update:

To check the path of the 'new' documents folder, it appears as C:\Users\TEMP

This means at least all of my original documents folder has not been deleted, but I'm trying to support everything up to an external drive where vista decided to replace my old documents folder entirely.

Hello

You can perform a restore of the system on the computer to restore the previous settings again.

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

For more information follow the link below.

System Restore: frequently asked questions

Unfortunately, I cannot even load the previously recommended THAT MSFT software to solve this error.  I also tried to install the software as 'Run as Administrator' and in 'Safe Mode '.  Even if I could not load the software recommended to MSFT, I was able to install iTunes to Apple through Apple Software Update, I guess, that they do not use Windows Installer.

Any help would be appreciated, if not I'll have to do a clean install and individually reinstall each piece of software... Thank you.

I think I found the solution for this point, because I have just encountered the same problem in our environment and here's what I did to solve it:

-Create a higher level permissions at the root of the folder redirection (for example \\servername\mydocredirfolder): grant the Group authenticated users the following permissions and apply it to "this folder only" ALLOW: list folders/read data, reading, reading attributes, read extended attributes, create files / add data

I think the MSI is trying to read the free space on the disk on the server, but it cannot because it tries to access the folder where your my documents redirection is sitting.

    Good luck!

  • Various services not loading after upgrade from Vista Home Premium to SP2

I searched the forums for solutions to this problem for several days, but nothing helped. I first noticed the problem after an attempted upgrade to SP2, when the upgrade failed Mid - install and restored automatically to the previous pack service, it seems that it does not restore things to their good working condition. On the one hand, the audio service no longer works, despite attempts to start in services.msc. I am also unable to check the dependencies of this service. Second, the network in the taskbar icon indicates that the connection status is unknown, despite the fact that I can not connect and this post. Thirdly, arranging complains that it has stopped working.
I tried several fixes, like uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, running virus scans and replacement of dll files download, but nothing has changed. I also tried the sfc/scannow command. to identify the root cause, but can not start repair services. Restore to the last know good configuration was my last attempt to win back a system that works, but this service is also blocked, complaining that the volume shadow copy service is not functional (even if I can throw in services). All previous changes have been made using administrator privileges.
Does anyone have any suggestions before you reinstall the operating system? (ASUS laptop refurbished w/o a DVD of vista) Would be very grateful if you can provide help on this

  • Chicony Webcam not accessible after upgrade from Vista to Win 7 Home Premium

I've upgraded or updated for Windows - 7 Edition Home Premium a couple of years on my Toshiba Satellite U305-S7448.  It has built in Chicony Webcam.  The camera used to have a Panel control that opens on the edge of the screen.  Now, no matter where I look at and I went to the Toshiba and Chicony sites to get the drivers I don't find a way to turn on the camera.  If I use Skype, it turns on and works normally for this function.  Recently, I clicked to add a profile picture on Google + and once again the camera came and worked very well.  When I look at the devices and click on the camera it tells me that it works correctly.  What escapes me that I can't use the camera as I could when I had Vista on the laptop originally?

Thanks for all the advice and assistance to anyone.  I don't know exactly how to use these forums and technology in general.  I just want to know all that, after tripping over the Toshiba support site I finally found the solution to my problem.  There is a download for what they call the Total Value Package I think is the name.  It must be installed before the drivers webcam and then everything works as it did when the laptop was new.  Down load is listed as, util_tvap_TC00214700M, in my folder.

  • sfc/scannow foud the corrupted files after upgrade from Vista Home Premium 32 bit

    Hello

It is an event that I went through:

    (1) recently I received a bunch of updates to Vista Home Premium 32 bit, after I did the update I decided to perform sfc/scannow task and this is the error message I got the "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and managed to fix them." Details are provided in the CBS.log windir\logs\CBS.log newspaper. For example c:\windows\logs\CBS\CBS.log

Repair of system files change will take effect after the next reboot.

    (2) so I did restart and then try to run the sfc/scannow task once again, but I still got the same message I described in step 1 again. So basically sfc/scannow function did not repair the corrupted files.

    (3) the next step, I decided to perform a repair Installation of visa which took me 10 hours to complete the task, once the task of upgrading of repair has been made and before the windows update, I ran sfc/scannow task and this time he finds any corrupted files, but after I updated windows sfc/scannow result was the same as step 1.

It is obvious to me that one of the updates of the origin of this problem, but find it me hard to pinpoint that one. So I am writing this e-mail to help and I hope that the problem will soon be solved. Please let me know if you need me to submit the CBS.log file for you to review thanks in advance.

    Kind regards

    Jdec9
