Age of Empires 3, green screen on Vista Basic

Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop, Celeron Processor 540 @ 1.86 GHz, 2.5 MB of RAM
System type - 32-bit operating system. With enough free space

I installed 3 AOE with great difficulty, I applied the soaps all packages on the Internet site, but when I try to run AOE3, I get a green screen instead of the menu bar.

I know that many people are experiencing the same problem, but nobody seems to have no solution...

can someone help me please.

Hi imrraza,

Thank you for visiting the community of Windows vista.

Please follow these steps:

1. start the DirectX Diagnostic tool

To start the DirectX Diagnostic tool in Windows Vista, click Start , type dxdiag in the Search box, and then click OK.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click continue.

2. open Windows Explorer, navigate to:

My games\Agef of perso\Mon of Empires 3\Users 3\

You can try editting the NewProfile3.xml file, if you want to do (open Notepad and change the values you need). If you do not want to change, just remove the file, and when you open the game, it will be with the default settings.

If the problem continues, check if your graphics driver is updated.

Make sure the computer meets the minimum system requirements to play the game.

  • Age of Empire II cannot install on Vista?

  • How to install Age Of Empires III on a Windows Vista or 7?

I bought Age of Empires III (without extensions, only the original) a few years ago and it worked well on my Windows XP operating system.  I now have a Windows Vista computer and another that runs on Windows 7, and AOEIII installs correctly on either.  On the Vista computer, I get an error message saying the game has known compatibility issues, but there is no solutions when I click on the button "find solutions online.  I choose to install the program even when and installation runs without any problems, but after a few minutes, an error message appears saying that there is an error in opening a specific file and I need to check that the file exists.  I click try again, but the message continues to appear every few minutes.  I tried many solutions online, including the execution of the program in different modes of compatibility and running it as an administrator.  I downloaded a patch for the game, but when I double click on the patch to fix the game, another error message appears saying that there is a problem with my installation.  I checked many sources who say the game is fully compatiable on Windows Vista and 7, but of course, it does not work for me.

    Hi blakesk8dgk,

    ·         What is the exact error message you get?

Check first if Age of Empire III is compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7 in Windows 7 or Windows Vista Compatibility Center:

    Windows 7 Compatibility Center

    Windows Vista Compatibility Center

    Step 1:

Take a look at the link to the following article:

Error messages when you try to install Age of Empires III or Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends: "Error 1935" or "Error 1904".

    Step 2:

If the game is not compatible, then try to install in compatibility mode and check if it helps:

Windows Vista - Make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows

Run Windows 7 - make older programs in this version of Windows

    I hope this helps.

  • Age of Empire 3 compatibility with Windows Vista Edition Home Premium

This program will not be installed. It installed once, I entered the key code, etc., he got right through to the end and finished but their was no installation, IE no programs found in the program section or all the shortcuts created on my desktop.

When I tried to install it again, the autorun.exe file runs when I insert the CD, but when it comes to the "preparation for installation step" he stops just by closing the dialog box and nothing happens. When you use the uninstall from the CD is the same.

    Hello LyndonLoader, welcome.

My recommendation would be to disable the startup items that may be preventing Setup from finishing. Try this.
    1. click on START
2 type "msconfig" (without the quotes) and press enter
    3. go to the "Startup" tab and uncheck all the entries displayed
    4. click on 'Apply' at the bottom right
    5 restart your computer

  • Graphics problems during the game Age of Empire II in mode full screen in Windows 7

Original title: screen resolution and/or graphics problem with Windows 7.

Hi, I had currently two computers in my house upgraded to windows 7, one a Vista XP.

I am trying to run Age Of Empires 2 on both computers, the game has installed and running with ease, however it won't let you play the game in full screen, and also the color of things like grass and trees appear in red and orange, water displays brilliant purple.

I tried to change the windows screen resolution and the resolution of the options in the game, but it only changes in the percentage of the screen resolution, that he chooses to play in.

I can solve this? All advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.

PS I tried to reinstall and update graphic drivers, both computers have the same problem of new clean installations of windows and Age of Empires 2.

    Thank you

It is a problem due to the fact that AOE 2 was built on the platform Windows 95/98 Win9x. It will expose a few graphical artifacts while playing. You can try setting compatibility Win98 or Win95 check. There is also a workaround that may work in my opinion. You will need to search for "how to run StarCraft (1) on Windows 7" in Bing (Alternatively, Google: P) and it would show a site with a .bat file that could solve the problem of graphics in fullscreen.

    I hope this helps.

What I did with StarCraft was this:

On the desktop, right-click and select new text Document. Inside the Document, type this

    Taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
    D:\"StarCraft"\"StarCraft.exe".
    Start explorer.exe

Just replace the location of StarCraft with the location of the AOE II.

Save the file as: 'AOEII.bat' and then set the file type to the text file to all files.

What happens is that if corrects the discoloration and restart the explorer again after the end of the game. Although there is no easy way to change the icon of the good bat file: P

  • Age of Empires II does not work with Vista or Windows 7

I could not get Age of Empires II working on my laptop - first with Vista and now Windows 7.

It installs OK and when you go to launch the small graphics launch box comes up, then the screen becomes phsychedelic before returning to normal and nothing more.

It is a Compaq Presario with a chipset Mobile Intel R45.

    Any advice?

    RusFry,
If you weren't able to get the game to run in that same laptop with Vista or Windows 7, it seems that there is a conflict of material with this game.  I see that this game was for older systems and only supports graphics 800 x 600.  You can turn your the desktop resolution to 800 x 600 with 256 colors, and then run the game.  If this does not help then you may install DirectX 9 and see if that helps. • I can't get Age of Empires III to install on my Vista Ultimate 64 system!

I tried to install several times without success.  I don't even get an error message!  The installation box runs through the routine of preparation and then closes without any report either.

I did some research and found quite a long thread on this forum since 2009 by a person called Summerbreeze who seemed to have a similar problem.  After several posts back the thread died suddenly without any apparent resolution.  Apparently, it is possible to get this game to work on Vista because I keep seeing questions and reports on various hardware issues with Vista users.

I am running Vista Ultimate 64, SP2, on a workstation Intel S5000VXNSATA that has two processors dual core Xeon 5130 and 4 GB of RAM.  My video configuration is a dual monitor connected to a graphics NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI card that carries the 256 MB of RAM on board.  I have 2 hard drives of 160 GB configured in RAID 0, but I have only about 50 free BM for the moment.  I am currently compressing readers in an attempt to free up space.

Any of my equipment from the list of incompatibility and I certainly sufficient power to run this thing, then why the problems?

    Thank you

  • Installation of Age of Empires (gold) on a Vista Home premium OS.

I have Age of Empires Gold Edition I bought quite earlier.

After having moved the House and updated my pc I tried to install it on my new laptop. It is running Vista Home premium. The program works through installation installed 100% and then stops. Close the window by using 'X' and then when you start it tells me to insert the correct disk (because it deleted the files installed during the closure of the facility). Gold is not compatible with vista?

    Thank you

I think it should work.  Try, right click on the installer and choose "Run as Administrator" and see if it works for you.

  • Age of Empires 3 does not start on a vista machine, get this error "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."

I'm trying to play age of Empires 3 on my computer running windows vista Home premium and the program does not start. I get the error message: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error." I tried many suggestions from Microsoft (resettlement program, reinstall in safe mode, update & reinstall the drivers for my video card, the compatibility issues with vista, updating and reinstalling directx 9.0 c, install vista service packs 1 & 2) but nothing has worked so far. I was able to play the game on the same computer with windows xp installed (it's a different hard drive that is not in the computer, and everything is the same) and it worked fine. My computer is old enough, but like I said the game worked before installing vista. ASUS A7N8x deluxe, AMD Athlon xp 3200 +, ATI radeon 9600, 2 GB OCZ ram that all suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

    Hi Raygun55,

Welcome to Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

This problem may occur if the Microsoft DirectX file that is mentioned in the error message is damaged or is not copied correctly.

I suggest that you copy the file manually by following the steps and check if you are able to play the game without any problems:

    Manually copy the file

To do this on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps:

1 insert the disc 1 CD for one of the following games into the player from the computer:

    o Age of Empires III

    o Fable: The Lost Chapters

    o Zoo Tycoon 2

o Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends

    2. click on start to reduce this includes this image and then click Documents.

    3. Locate, and then click computer.

    4. search and then click on the CD drive.

    5. Locate and then click the following folder:

    CD player :\ DirectX9

Note In this folder path, the CD player represents the drive letter of the CD drive.

6 double-click on Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x86.cab, right click on d3dx9_25.dlland then click copy.

In Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, double click Aug2005_d3dx9_27_x64.cab right-click d3dx9_27.dlland then click copy.

Note Use the Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x64.cab file for the x 64 version of the Windows operating system.

    7. find one or more of the following folders, depending on the games that are installed on the computer:

By car : \Program Files\Microsoft: Age of Empires III

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fable - The Lost Chapters

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Rise of legends

Note In these folder paths, drive represents the letter of the drive where the game is installed.

    8. right click on the folder of the game which is the part that is installed on the computer, and then click Paste.

Note If you have installed more than one game on the computer, repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other games.

You can check the link for more information: error message when you try to start a Microsoft game: "the file d3dx9_XX. DLL was not found": http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910813

Alternatively, you can try to install the game in XP compatibility mode and check if you are able to play or not.

Right-click on the game > click Properties > click on the Compatibility tab > select for XP compatibility mode > click OK.

Let me know if it worked.
