Age of Empires 3 refuses to start

I recently reinstalled AoE3 but it doesn't start. I tried to run as an administrator by running it in compatibility mode, running of the file 3 in the installation folder, but it will not start with any of them. When I run it from the 3 file, it go as far as the screen start, but as soon as I hit him 'Play the game' it just and lance never closes.

Is it the original AoE3 or we the Expansions of AoE3, "the warlords'"or Asian Dynasties?

The game does not work on a computer that does not have Age of Empires III installed.

I bought Age of Empires II from amazon.com.  It installs successfully, but when I try to start it, it does not appear.  In fact, nothing happens.

What should I do to solve the problem?

    Hi Divya R,.

    a. I don't get an error message. I think that I was clearly in the very first post of mine (reading-nothing happens)

I read in other forums and I see there are a lot of users having problems with AOE 2. Such a forum suggested to disable UAC. I have disabled UAC. Now, it works fine. Thanks anyway.

Could you tell your people to Microsoft to publish patches to make the game more compatible Windows 7? Since there are a lot of known problem with AOE 2. Could we avoid having to experiment with our computers and it might also help to keep the image of Microsoft.

  • Age of Empires 3 does not start on a vista machine, get this error "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error."

I'm trying to play age of Empires 3 on my computer running windows vista Home premium and the program does not start. I get the error message: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empires III\d3dx9_25.dll is not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error." I tried many suggestions from Microsoft (resettlement program, reinstall in safe mode, update & reinstall the drivers for my video card, the compatibility issues with vista, updating and reinstalling directx 9.0 c, install vista service packs 1 & 2) but nothing has worked so far. I was able to play the game on the same computer with windows xp installed (it's a different hard drive that is not in the computer, and everything is the same) and it worked fine. My computer is old enough, but like I said the game worked before installing vista. ASUS A7N8x deluxe, AMD Athlon xp 3200 +, ATI radeon 9600, 2 GB OCZ ram that all suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

    Hi Raygun55,

Welcome to Microsoft Vista answers Forum!

This problem may occur if the Microsoft DirectX file that is mentioned in the error message is damaged or is not copied correctly.

I suggest that you copy the file manually by following the steps and check if you are able to play the game without any problems:

    Manually copy the file

To do this on a computer that is running Windows Vista, follow these steps:

1 insert the disc 1 CD for one of the following games into the player from the computer:

    o Age of Empires III

    o Fable: The Lost Chapters

    o Zoo Tycoon 2

o Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends

    2. click on start to reduce this includes this image and then click Documents.

    3. Locate, and then click computer.

    4. search and then click on the CD drive.

    5. Locate and then click the following folder:

    CD player :\ DirectX9

Note In this folder path, the CD player represents the drive letter of the CD drive.

6 double-click on Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x86.cab, right click on d3dx9_25.dlland then click copy.

In Rise of Nations: Rise of Legends, double click Aug2005_d3dx9_27_x64.cab right-click d3dx9_27.dlland then click copy.

Note Use the Apr2005_d3dx9_25_x64.cab file for the x 64 version of the Windows operating system.

    7. find one or more of the following folders, depending on the games that are installed on the computer:

By car : \Program Files\Microsoft: Age of Empires III

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fable - The Lost Chapters

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Zoo Tycoon 2

    By car : \Program Files\Microsoft Games\Rise of legends

Note In these folder paths, drive represents the letter of the drive where the game is installed.

    8. right click on the folder of the game which is the part that is installed on the computer, and then click Paste.

Note If you have installed more than one game on the computer, repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other games.

You can check the link for more information: error message when you try to start a Microsoft game: "the file d3dx9_XX. DLL was not found": http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910813

Alternatively, you can try to install the game in XP compatibility mode and check if you are able to play or not.

Right-click on the game > click Properties > click on the Compatibility tab > select for XP compatibility mode > click OK.

Let me know if it worked.

  • Age of Empires III does not start

I have Winodws 7 64-bit and that you installed AoE 3 and at first it worked, I played for a few hours. After I stopped play and close my PC to install new updates, it restarted and I decided to play a few more AoE 3. The menu appeared, where I could choose Play, uninstall, website and exit. I pressed Play and the PC set colors on Windows7-Basic, which was normal, but the colors were back to the original and the game has not started. I tried to start the game a few times more, but it still does not work. I went to uninstall the program and reinstall and tried to see whether she should start now, but to my amazement he again repeated the same process as I just explained. My age of mythology also works very well, which confuses me a little. Can someone help me? I would be very happy if someone could help me. Thank you!

Yes, I finally solved the problem. Just install the game, if you have uninstalled, download the update for aoe3 (http://www.agecommunity.com/gameUpdates.aspx) and then when you downloaded it just run that and it will patch automatically. Once this is done, you will probably have to change the colors and run it as an administrator, but otherwise it schould work very well yet.

  • Satellite A200 start Age of Empires

    Hello world

My daughter has a Sat A200 1.8 GHz 3052 available RAM, installed Direct X 10, more older version 9 to run older games. Under Vista Home Premium with an ATI Radeon Graphics Processor 0 chip x 9581 (Mobility Radeon HD) 2600.

I get an error at the launch of Age of Empires II and I have the chart cannot initialize and check the compatibility of card and the video driver with Direct Draw.

I did, Direct sampling is enabled, the ATI driver has been updated, windows also updates and the game still gives me the same message.

Do you have a registry clean after using the game of the demo, which also did not work.

I got this game on two other laptops, a new Compaq and a 12 months, as well as old Acer laptop on my fully equipped acer desktop computer to vista. The only problem I have is with the Compaq laptop screen resolution should be set back to normal after the games, but it works very well. I don't know why the Toshiba Satellite is to give so much trouble.

    Can someone enlighten me? Please...

    Hello

    > the ATI driver has been updated
And what ATI drivers you have installed exactly? Since the site of Toshiba or other drivers?

AFAIK for Age of Empires II are some fixes available. Have you installed them? As far as I know you can download on the Microsoft Web site.

You can also try starting the game in compatibility mode. That's why I choose Windows XP.

  • Saved multiplayer games in Age of Empires Collector Edition fo not start

I use a DVD-ROM PC named Empires collector's Edition of the age. It is not possible for me to start a multiplayer game of Age of Empires II registered. The error message is "you must have a CD in your CD-ROM drive to play the game."

I used the same computers and configuration when I tried to start the saved game as was used when the game has been saved.

I spent a lot of time looking for a solution without progress. I'll be very happy if someone knows how to solve this problem.

I looked liked Microsoft technical support options. Perhaps one of the problems is that they never thought that this DVD should need support on its own. The only support that have ever existed is related to the AOE II, but this problem is directly related to the release of the collection.

Another thing, I discovered that the with the extension of conquerors, on the same DVD, it is possible to open internet saved. It isn't Age of Kings, but pretty close. For my son, this solution will be good enough.

  • I have age of empires 3 and I can not start the program.

    Hello

I have age of empires 3 and I can not start the program.
The program is installed, but once the autorun.exe appears (with the icons of the game, uninstall, website, out) I click on play and the game does not just start. My computing needs are fairly good for the game because I used to play the game on the same computer later.

    Thanks for your help

Bink is what plays the scenes cut in many games.

Installation folder of AOE 3 the binkw32.dll should be in games.
If it is then it is may be damaged and reinstall the game normally would set the
    problem.

AutoPatcher.exe - I do not know because I never use auto-patchers with games.
I have always to download the patch and install manually.
However, my game has the RockallDLL.dll file.

I don't really know a good site to lead you to these files.
You can find a binkw32.dll in another game. Try doing a search of
Program Files (x 86) (or another location if you install games to the default locations). If you have the file in another game you can copy into your AOE3
    folder of the master installation.

There was a lot of discussion on these forums about AOE3 so a
search of these forums may find another suggestion.
You can also try the specific AOE3 forums-

  • Age of Empires 3 community expressing concern

    Greetings,

My name is Thomas Rude, and I am a player who plays Age of Empires 3, but also a moderator at the age of the Empires 3 Fan Site AgeSanctuary.com.

For a long time, many friends from my friends and I played this game at a very high level. We have endured years of low support from the studios of games that have been responsible for the management of Age of Empires 3, but continued to play the game we love. We were all optimistic that when the Robot Entertainment took the lead of Ensemble Studios that our large community would finally receive the kind of support that we deserved. We were wrong. The two Ensemble Studios (ES) and Robot Entertainment (RE) had said they would give updates to the game about balance, but this service has never been provided within a reasonable time has been a quality.

As time has pasted, more people began to leave the game, as it was bad balance - which is incredibly important for a RTS game. After much deliberation, the community of experts decided that if no support was forthcoming from YOU or RE, they would simply do their own patch. We started to do this in November 2008. Since then, experts from the Middle, with myself in the lead, has been actively patching the game to experience one that is much more fun because of the incredible online game balance.

A short while back, I contacted RE to see if their would be a way that we could do our version of the official patch and he was ready and willing to work with them in any way possible to do. They refused this opportunity by saying it would be too much trouble and had no interest. What bothers me. -It is not their job to support the game? My team was ready and willing to give, not even to sell, but give them our patch. We have tested this hotfix for hours and continues actively with balance.

So here I am. A representative of the community of expert of a game that many of us love, asking if it is still possible that Microsoft will review the implementation of our patch. I am more then willing to communicate with anyone who needed in any necessary way (telephone, Email, Skype, MSN, etc.).

This game has got the potential to be a, otherwise, the largest ever released RTS games. If our patch had to be adapted, hundreds, if not thousands of avid gamers would be the game they loved.

I look forward to your response and thank you for your time.

    Sincerely,

    Thomas gross

  • Graphics problems during the game Age of Empire II in mode full screen in Windows 7

Original title: screen resolution and/or graphics problem with Windows 7.

Hi, I had currently two computers in my house upgraded to windows 7, one a Vista XP.

I am trying to run Age Of Empires 2 on both computers, the game has installed and running with ease, however it won't let you play the game in full screen, and also the color of things like grass and trees appear in red and orange, water displays brilliant purple.

I tried to change the windows screen resolution and the resolution of the options in the game, but it only changes in the percentage of the screen resolution, that he chooses to play in.

I can solve this? All advice is appreciated and thanks in advance.

PS I tried to reinstall and update graphic drivers, both computers have the same problem of new clean installations of windows and Age of Empires 2.

    Thank you

It is a problem due to the fact that AOE 2 was built on the platform Windows 95/98 Win9x. It will expose a few graphical artifacts while playing. You can try setting compatibility Win98 or Win95 check. There is also a workaround that may work in my opinion. You will need to search for "how to run StarCraft (1) on Windows 7" in Bing (Alternatively, Google: P) and it would show a site with a .bat file that could solve the problem of graphics in fullscreen.

    I hope this helps.

What I did with StarCraft was this:

On the desktop, right-click and select new text Document. Inside the Document, type this

    Taskkill /f /IM explorer.exe
    D:\"StarCraft"\"StarCraft.exe".
    Start explorer.exe

Just replace the location of StarCraft with the location of the AOE II.

Save the file as: 'AOEII.bat' and then set the file type to the text file to all files.

What happens is that if corrects the discoloration and restart the explorer again after the end of the game. Although there is no easy way to change the icon of the good bat file: P
