Impossible to get Age of Empires conquerors on Win XP to start

Installed Age of Empires conquerors on Windows XP, but cannot get it to start. When put CD in CD-ROM drive's error message 'Please insert the CD OK..' so cannot run because he thinks that I have the wrong CD in the CD-ROM. But I had the same CD in the CDROM which was used to load the software in the first place. This CD-ROM works for all other uses. Uninstalled and reinstalled the program several times but still does not work.  What should I do?

    Hello

I have age of empires 3 and I can not start the program.
The program is installed, but once the autorun.exe appears (with the icons of the game, uninstall, website, out) I click on play and the game does not just start. My computing needs are fairly good for the game because I used to play the game on the same computer later.

Bink is what plays the scenes cut in many games.

Installation folder of AOE 3 the binkw32.dll should be in games.
If it is then it is may be damaged and reinstall the game normally would set the
    problem.

AutoPatcher.exe - I do not know because I never use auto-patchers with games.
I have always to download the patch and install manually.
However, my game has the RockallDLL.dll file.

I don't really know a good site to lead you to these files.
You can find a binkw32.dll in another game. Try doing a search of
Program Files (x 86) (or another location if you install games to the default locations). If you have the file in another game you can copy into your AOE3
    folder of the master installation.

There was a lot of discussion on these forums about AOE3 so a
search of these forums may find another suggestion.

    Hi Cat101,

Age of Empires 2: The Conquerors expansion is not listed in the Windows 7 Compatibility Center. You can check the link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Search.aspx?type=Software&s=Age%20of%20Empires%20II%3a%20The%20Conquerors%20expansion

  • 'Impossible to join' Age of Empires 3

I bought a new pc with Windows 7 installed. I installed Age of Empires 3. When I go to multiplayer, about 95% of the games said "impossible to reach." I have my old pc (with xp service pack 3) still connected via a router even and it continues to connect to the games, so I guess that the router is ok. Nevertheless, I have disconected from the router and plugged back in after a while (this allows to sort this occasional problem on my old pc) but it's not better on my new pc. I adjusted the windows to run the older version with this game, but no improvement. Age of Empires 3 site speaks of ports and router problems, I had a glance in the ports, but don't understand what I should change, if anything. As I cannot go into casual games, I guess I'm in times of conflict/not compatible in some way with most of the other players, but don't know what to do about it. Can anyone help please?

    Hi Mike,.

Just to complete this thread, and for anyone else who has the similar problem.

I had to replace my router. I spent 2 hours with scientists of BT (who provided the broadband and router malfuntioning) and couldn't sovle the problem. So I bought a different brand of router and its working fine. I didn't have to forward ports or anything else, it worked just the box (Netgear). There must be some sort of conflict between Windows 7 and older equipment (BT Thomson).

    Thanks for your help,

    Ron Russell

  • I can't get Age of Empires III to install on my Vista Ultimate 64 system!

I tried to install several times without success.  I don't even get an error message!  The installation box runs through the routine of preparation and then closes without any report either.

I did some research and found quite a long thread on this forum since 2009 by a person called Summerbreeze who seemed to have a similar problem.  After several posts back the thread died suddenly without any apparent resolution.  Apparently, it is possible to get this game to work on Vista because I keep seeing questions and reports on various hardware issues with Vista users.

I am running Vista Ultimate 64, SP2, on a workstation Intel S5000VXNSATA that has two processors dual core Xeon 5130 and 4 GB of RAM.  My video configuration is a dual monitor connected to a graphics NVIDIA Quadro FX 3450/4000 SDI card that carries the 256 MB of RAM on board.  I have 2 hard drives of 160 GB configured in RAID 0, but I have only about 50 free BM for the moment.  I am currently compressing readers in an attempt to free up space.

Any of my equipment from the list of incompatibility and I certainly sufficient power to run this thing, then why the problems?

    Thank you

  • Resolution problem with Age of Empires on Windows 7.

I can't get Age of Empires to work in a resolution of 1280 x 800; It plays only at 640 x 480. I tried all the different compatibility options, and none of them worked. This game worked on Windows Vista, but since I have upgraded to Windows 7. How to get the game to run at least in a higher resolution?

    MS Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Pentium Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.4 GHz, 2.0 GB RAM, Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
    Thank you

Well, I looked, and I have to do an update of the driver from the manufacturer's Web site. But HP has no updates for my type of computer running windows 7. Does this mean I'm stuck with the resolution 1024 x 768?

Lonnie7 you have... once more... for a game, you can choose only these resolution which are supported by a game. 1280 x 800 is NOT supported by AoE.

You remove the black bars, your image is adjusted to fill all the screen and that's all you can do.

If my graphic card support I say 1900 x 1200 can I run AoE with this resolution? NO! I can only choose these resolution which are supported by a game.

  • Age of Empires 3 does not work on xp

I can't get Age of Empires 3 (box set) to run on Windows XP, my system satisfied easily required for the game. I installed it successfully, but nothing happens when I try to run the game.

I tried after for example, online help installation with anti virus disabled, try running on administrator, perform a clean boot, checking all the drivers are updated and others, but without success. One thing that seems strange, it's that the game in the start menu icon displays (no video) beside him.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Age of Empires II does not work with Vista or Windows 7

I could not get Age of Empires II working on my laptop - first with Vista and now Windows 7.

It installs OK and when you go to launch the small graphics launch box comes up, then the screen becomes phsychedelic before returning to normal and nothing more.

It is a Compaq Presario with a chipset Mobile Intel R45.

    Any advice?

    RusFry,
If you weren't able to get the game to run in that same laptop with Vista or Windows 7, it seems that there is a conflict of material with this game.  I see that this game was for older systems and only supports graphics 800 x 600.  You can turn your the desktop resolution to 800 x 600 with 256 colors, and then run the game.  If this does not help then you may install DirectX 9 and see if that helps.
