Age of Empires II - disk cannot be located

original title: Age of Empires II

I have installed Age of Empires II on Vista but when I load it, I get an error message saying the disc cannot be located even if the disc is inserted.

Here is the official site of Age of Empires: http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_aoeiii_master#tab0

It seems to be a common problem.

  • Age of Empire II cannot install on Vista?

I am trying to install it on my computer, which is a Vista, and while it loads, a popup tells me that is not working.

I can not quite copy because my game is in French, but he says it's a file write error (?). He has written too location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Age of Empire II\AVI\AGE2. AVI, then he said to check my disk space hard or if the file is not currently in use (I'm doing my best to translate, I do not know all the computer talk in English)

I can ignore it, but he's finally coming back without him, and then I'm screwed.

I tried to run it as administrator, installation and basic, but nothing seems to work. All the solutions for that?

EDIT: If I ignore it, the inevitable message is a message on DATA\graphics.drs
I checked the location of the two files, but I don't see anything weird, maybe it's the last file is only 0 k...?

Hello Whackbag.  Looks like it could be a damaged drive.  Especially if its happening right on a file.  Try to copy the contents of the disc on the desktop and run the installer from there instead. • Age of Empire 3. error 1334. Cannot install the file 'hispaniola_map.ddt' because the file is not found in the CAB file ' Disk3C ~ 1.cab '.

I recently bought Age of Empires 3 and tried to install it.  I get to drive three - until almost the end - when I'm "error 1334. Cannot install the file 'hispaniola_map.ddt' because the file is not found in the file ' Disk3C ~ 1.cab '. This may indicate a network error and the error reading CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. "The installation continues until the end of the progress bar, but it reads"Rolling Back Action"for about fifteen seconds before I got a"feature transfer error", which reads" error:-1603 Fatal error during installation. " Consult the help of Windows Installer (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information. "Then, the Setup program stops and tells me that the game failed to install and my system has not changed.  I cleaned the disk and it is in good condition. My computer also meets all the requirements for the game. I looked everywhere for an answer, but so far none has solved the problem. I tried to install it without the firewall and antivirus software running, in addition to install in safe mode.  Any suggestions?

  • Age of Empires III: the Asian Dynasties cannot install the "Art5.bar" of the case and would not proceed beyond this file. I have

    Original title:

Age of Empires III: the Asian Dynasties

After a few years with Age of Empires III: the Asian Dynasties uninstalled I recently tried to install it. When the Setup could not install the file "Art5.bar" and would not proceed beyond this file. I tried several facilities with the same result. If it is a zero or a problem with the disc, is there no way, far from buying a new copy, which would allow the installation of The Asian Dynasties or would repair the disk? Is it not possible to force the installation to jump before the installation of the file "Art5.bar" and try to find the file online a patch or another source?

I found similar questions online and was trying a possible solution, which was to copy files from my drive in another file and try to install from there. Then I discovered that windows can not copy a certain file on the disk, called ' YPack_ ~ 1 ' correctly. The copy process stop, just as the installer of The Asian Dynasties had previously and would not then spent the ' YPack_ ~ 1 ' file. I was also unable to copy the file '00002.tmp', but I was able to jump in front of the copy of the file. I don't know if this file is corrupted and critical for installation, were not able to determine if yes, when you attempt to run Setup from the folder Setup cannot start the installation of The Asian Dynasties without the ' YPack_ ~ 1 ' file. I have not found similar questions online and do not know if this is the issue of the installation of The Asian Dynasties or indicates files corrupted on my drive.

Hi, I could not also copy the 00002.tmp, but I think it might be due to a cyclic redundancy check indicating a damaged drive.

Maybe try to download this file from the internet and (after checking that it is the right file) replacing the version on your CD.

  • Satellite Pro P200: Cannot play Age of Empires, because DirectDraw

    I just replaced my old laptop (a ps210e) with a 15th Satellite Pro P200.

I can't my old age of Empires II game to run--the error message is "cannot initialize the graphics system. Make sure that your video card and driver are compatible with DirectDraw. »

Google told me that there is utility to run to test this called dxdiag and I ran it and it says allowed to DirectDraw acceleration (as well as many other things).

So, what should I do to get the Age of Empires to run?

  • Age of Empires 2 cannot host the game with Windows 7, Server networking DirectPlay

I recently installed Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion on Windows 7 Ultimate RC1 at home.

This game does not work on Windows 7 with some work. First color is screwed up because it runs using 256 colors. Killing the task of 'explorer' in the Task Manager, while the game is running fixed that.

My new problem is that I can't host a game in network on Windows 7. I've done some packet sniffing and I think it has to do with Directplay Server does not properly.

    According to Wikipedia

    • In Windows Vista , DirectPlay has been deprecated and DirectPlay Voice and NAT Helper of DirectPlay have been removed.

I can join Games hosted on a Windows XP with Windows 7 machine, but I'm not able to host my own games.

At work, we all use Windows 7 to play after hours is not possible because we do not have an XP machine to host the game.

How can I me Directplay specifically Directplay Server run on Windows 7?

I tried AOE2 running in Compatibility Mode for XP SP2 as it as an administrator.

    Kind regards

    Joey

If, after upgrading two machines Windows 7 Beta to Windows 7 Professional Retail, I managed to get the machines to see after turning off UPnP on the router. I guess AOE2 is the ad itself and the router it's treat as UPnP.

  • Cannot install Age of Empires Trial Version

Original title: downloaded game will not install on Vista

I downloaded Age of Empires Trial Version Microsoft Games, but when I try to install nothing happens.  I got the .exe file on my desktop and can only run as administrator.  The next screen gives me the possibility to install or exit.  I select install and then get a license agreement.  I select I accept and then the computer thinks for a minute and then nothing else happens.  Does anyone have a suggestion?

Hello! I had this problem too, and I hope that you are always looking for an answer. It's the first time posted on forums ive.

Ok! What you need to do, it's MSAoE.exe right click and select Properties. Then, go to compatibility and then run the program with windows 95. Go down to settings and run in 256 colors. Then select run as an adiministrator. Click on apply, and then run the trial version download. Please note: this can temporarily ruin the color scheme on your PC. Thank you very much hope this helps as it worked for me. :)

    Hello

If you are able to install the other games\programs except the Age of Empires 2 seems clearly to be the issue with game CD, then I would say you are trying to install the game using the same CD in the other XP computer and check if it installs successfully.

  • Cannot install 'Age of Empires III War Chiefs' on Windows 8.

Original title: Age of Empires III war Chifes does not install

I got a new computer Windows 8 64-bit. When I tried to install my favorite game Age of Empires III, the expedition of warlords will not be installed at the same time the Asian Dynasties and the Age of regular Empires is installed and works very well.

I searched the web and couldn't find the answer, when I try to install I get error of 1268. I tried all solution on the web. I'll be glad if someone can guide me throw it.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I had problems to install this game as well.
The error occurred to me was that the program was not installed for all users.
    I found a solution to:
    1. go to computer > C: and the option to display hidden items.
    2. after a hidden folder named ProgramData will appear.
    3. then you should go ProgramData > Microsoft > Windows > StartupMenu > programs.
    4. When you are in that folder you just create another folder named Microsoft Games.
    5. inside of this new folder, you create another one named Age of Empires III
    6. now just try to reinstall.
It worked for me on Windows 8, I hope it helps someone.
