• Rome Total War (various expansion packs) and Windows 7 (64-bit)

  I'm a "bit of a pickle" as Windows 7 (64-bit) and Rome Total War, and if it should run OK.

  The game worked fine on my old XP machine but seems hit and Miss on W7 (64), esp, some of the expansion packs.

  I have the old RTW Activision and who installs OK and usually starts and runs OK. However, from time to time it will crash. I can play for hours sometimes and its OK, others only for a few minutes. So I tried the RTW patches to get the game to load 1.3. This is the first weird problem, the patch seems to only load in "Program files" and not "program files (x 86)" but the game loaded in both. Q1 - the patch should load in both?

  Q2 what version should I try to run RTW?, one in program files, or the one in program files (x 86)?

  Q3 who, if all the expansion packs should run? I have RTW - Barbarian Invasion (Sega) and RTW - Alexander (Sega/White Label). Barbarian Invasion appears to load but does not work (the first of all he missed mss32.dll, that I found and copied, but then) he said that he could not start Audio 3d. Alexander says that he cannot see the RomeTW.exe (1.5 or 1.6) she needs to find prior to installation. I tried to install the 1.5 patch, but he always says the same thing even if the patch supposed to install OK. Is this related to the query of the 1.3 patch above I wonder?

  EDIT - is something I just noticed, if I put the CD back to work in the W7 machine (64) and launch the game from the context menu, it also fails to start with "cannot initialize 3D audio" (or purpose). I was running the game from a shortcut that was created in the W7 boot menu, which goes from the version of files (x 86) program. And this shortcut, it starts and plays but sometimes crashes.

  Hey I know this is an old question but I just had the same problem. the problem is he's leaving moved in the x 86 folder programs and some of the patches there too. If all you have to do is to copy and merge all this program (86) in the folder program files (64-bit).

  I try to go on multiplayer LAN and sign in my brothers host thing and it is or a second and then he released me and said soemthing as (you have a difrent from the host game and you have the same patch) or something like that.

  Regarding your question, first you simply bring up the line of command manually. And n go to start programs/accessories. Locate the "Command prompt" shortcut, right-click on this shortcut and select the "Run as Administrator" option.

  The most notable change is that when you run with an administrator account, you run with standard user privileges.  You must explicitly raise a process to obtain Administrator privileges.

  Hello... I can't with Age of Mythology music and voices during the campaign cutscenes and in-game. Whenever I play a level of the campaign, I can not here the voices of the characters and background music. I can only here sounds like mining, picking up a soldier, agriculture etc. Also during the campaign cutscenes, he gets stuck or suspended. Also with the mode random, cant here map background music. • Age Of Mythology Titans Expansion bad

  I installed the pack Age Of Mythology Titans Expansion off PC DVD - ROM that was the original game and expansion.   When I tried to open the program Windows Vista (Home Premium Pack on a laptop Aspire 4730z) it kept giving me the message "this program has encountered an error and will be closed by windows."   I chose to uninstall the game, including any user or saved game files.   I then tried to reinstall the game, but every time I try to reinstall the installation program tells me that there is already a copy installed in this folder.   When I look in the folder of the game Windows there is nothing here for the game, and the Installer gives me the option to change the installation directory.   Any suggestions?

  There could be some files and registry entries left in other places that are present in the computer, you can install the Windows Installer cleanup utility and uninstall the associations of files needed for the game.

  Use the utility Windows Install CleanUp to remove Office 2000, Office XP or Office 2003: http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/290301 (this remains valid even uninstall a program)

  After you have uninstalled all the files, you can try to install the game and check.

  just bought the total war rome and expansion (barbarian invasion) today.  I installed the game and expansion on my computer laptop windows 7 and my the family computer that runs on windows xp.  on my computer laptop windows 7 installed, gently, but the game will not run at all... which means that I click on the shortcut on the desktop and nothing happens.  the only way to open the game is by going to my computer, select the cd drive and then opening the romeTW.exe file.

  However, this makes me only to the main menu of the game and this is where the real trouble begins.  Once there, I click on "play rome total war" or in the case of the expansion pack 'game barbarian invasion' which instead of leading to the game itself it just crashes me to the menu let me back at the office level.

  on the side, I met NONE of these problems on the computer of windows xp from my family.

  I tried to make the game compatible with windows xp (service pack 2), which is recommended and Windows xp (service pack 3) I even gave a shot, but none has made a difference.

  I now try to uninstall and install the game for a 3rd time and this time I will try to install under xp compatibility.  If you could please leave a message instructing me on how to do that would be extremely useful

  You may be using a Windows 7 64-bit operating system. Rome total war - barbarian invasion is not compatibile with Windows 7 64 bit operating system. However, it is compatible with a 32-bit version. Click here to check.
   
  If you use a 32-bit Windows 7, try to right click on the romeTW.exe file and run it as administrator and check what is happening.
  You can also check the event viewer for any game related errors.
