Aironet 1140 POE Setup

I received my new gear CISCO Aironet 1140 AP as well as Wireless Lan Controller. During the installation of the devices, I ran into a subject to obtaining of POE working.  For each AP, we have an air-pwrinj3 inline power injector. After installation guide, I can say with the wiring chat will feature on the injector port in on the AP Ethernet port.

The AP feeds not on and the device on the injector status indicator remains off. The injector is me has power and the power status indicator is green.

Have tried this, use several APs and several poe injectors and have run out of ideas. APs power well when getting POE from the Wireless LAN Controller device or when the electrical connection to the AP directly from the power supply.

Don't know what else to try.

Thank you

Sarah

Hi Sarah,.

Unfortunately, the series 1140 requires the most recent power AIR-PWRINJ4 = injector

  • Cisco Aironet 1140 Standalone AP

Greetings. For some time I'm looking for bargains from a class wireless access point. I narrowed down it to the stand-alone Cisco Aironet 1140 (no controller). I'm no stranger to Cisco products. I worked with the routers, switches and firewalls Pix / ASA. However, I did not have the opportunity to work with their wireless access point I hope that someone here who has experience using these AP (more precisely the autonomous 1140), can provide information on the reliability and safety of these devices. Some of the features that I would like to have as Mgmt. Radio and Rogue AP Detection I see are only available on the controller base units. Do not have these features on the autonomous unit reduced its reliability and safety? It's for a small business and the budget does not drop to a controller at this time. Thank you!

The 1140's are a good choice for standalone 802.11n. Regarding reliability and safety, it would be identical to a lightweight AP. you can use different types of encryption as well as using 802.1 x. You will not not reliable detection functions or management of radio since these are autonomous.

  • Aironet 1140 access point / 1941 router question

    I currently have:

    -router (not wireless) 1941

    -Access point 1140

Looks like I got the AP on controller instead of the standalone version.  My question is, the 1941 (not 1941W) has a wireless controller?  If not, is there a controller module I can add to my router?  Or I would return the AP I to the standalone version (or the 1941 for the 1941W)?

Thanks in advance for any advice / help.

It is not a controller which can go in the 1941. The controllers are quite expensive if you probably don't want to go this way in any case. Before you send the return of accreditation, Sue TAC and see if you can convert it to a standalone. Some AP support this, but I'm not sure of the 1140 series.

    It will be useful.

  • Aironet 1140 AP - lost connection after the update of duplex

I change the Auto/Auto duplex to full/1000 through the attached screenshot parameter in the web access console. Now the AP not to respond and allow elements to connect to the AP. Is no longer, I can access it via the URL or ping. Any ideas on how to get it back?

You will need to comfort in the change of the AP, the return parameters.  Make sure you leave speed and duplex auto/auto.

  • How to configure repeater using aironet 1140?

    Hey,.

I have an Air-AP1141N-A-K9 and I want to set up a Repeater bridge. I already have the web interface to the top. I was wondering how to set up as a Repeater for my main router. I think that it only supports 2.4 Ghz

The IP address of my main router is

    192.168.1.154

    2.4 Ghz channel 2

    SSID: Wolf

I was able to set up a Repeater bridge using a dd - wrt installed the router but I can't figure out how to do it with the access point Cisco

    Thank you

    Hi Josh,.

I assume you are using a CISCO IOS Gateway running as a parent to another access point Repeater running Cisco's IOS cannot associate with

access points to the parents who who are not IOS running.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/access_point/12.4_21a_JA1/configuration/guide/scg12421aJA1-chap19-WGB-standby.html

If you use an access point CISCO as a parent... then make sure that the settings on the Parent and the Repeater exactly except matches IP ADDRESS and the ROLE of STATION...

To set the same as Repeater... Here are the steps...

To the CLI HELP - issue the 'repeater station-role' command under the interface of the AP Radio.

With the HELP of GUI - click network interfaces > int > 802.11 G Radio > settings > here you can > Repeater > click it and apply.

  • to convert 1142N AP autonomous lightweight access point

    Hello

I have 4 1142N access points are all points of light access. Because I don't have a controller, I need to convert to standalone AP.

I went through document cisco 1142, where it is mentioned that "the access point 1142 doesn't have the default IP address"

I know procedure to convert offline in which I need to connect ap to the TFTP 10.0.0.1 with the ip address by default, but as for 1142, we do not have the default ip address. What is the procedure to convert offline?

I have to assign a pool in one of the local switch and connect the ap to these switches with vlan, so she will receive the IP address of the DHCP server?

But how can we without default IP address? I wonder about this...

If I did not turn on where I can assign pool dhcp... what should I do?

Please suggest me to convert 1142 standalone AP ap...

I will be thankful to get the right answer...

    Hi Vinod,

    Here's the resolution...

The image that is on the device's LWAPP, not the autonomous... If you want to use the AP in stand-alone mode, then the image must be W7...  It's...

    C1140-k9w7 - tar.124 - 21A .JY .tar not c1140-rcvk9w8 - tar.124 - 23c.JA.tar

Please feel free to download any image from the below link and perform the conversion of image LWAPP to stand alone...

    the methos to convert is...

Download TFTPd32 of google and install it on your PC... point of the image that you downloaded on the TFTP server.

Connect a cable ethernet between your notebook and AP... both should be on the same subnet... Connect a cable from the console and access the hyperterminal console with the command... Make sure that you are able to ping the PC and AP and vice versa!

  • Must configure with the same SSID of the AP

We are looking for the purchase of two Access Points to our new building.  We currently have at our old facility two end bottom of AP with two different SSIDs.  Manaully users simply switch between the two.  I would like to know how it would be difficult to set up it would not have users to manually switch as they traveled through the building.

I have looked at Cisco AP below and I was wondering if she had the ability to do so.  Is there another hardware or software needed to put up something like that.

Just to clarify I only need two AP and want things transperent to my users.  I want them to be able to walk the area covered to another area covered by the AP2 and AP1 and loose no matter what connection.  Here it's automatic for users do not have to do anything to move things.

Any info anyone can provide to help me would be greatly appreceated.  Thanks in advance.

Access point wireless Cisco Aironet 1140 AIR-LAP1141N-A-K9

As I understand it, you can configure both with the same SSID settings and security and that they will be 'transparent' to switch to the other. It is if you do not use something like an IP phone that requires a quick transition between the two. In this case, you would need a controller.

  • Upgrade for the WLC code questions

We 6.0.132 (lastest) WCS and our controllers are on 4.2.130, we now to upgrade to deal with sometimes, but don't want to capwap yet.

Question 1: what is the last exit LWAPP code?

Question2:Whats the differences between 4.2.207 (support page for cisco said it's the latest version), but it has same releases with ie 6.0 how it works it is very confusing workout a way to upgrade to higher versions

    See you soon

    Hi Tyrone,

I'm not an expert on the management of versions, but here are some basic in response details

    at your request

4.2.207 is the last version on the Train of 4.2 and is without doubt an excellent choice

If you are avoiding CAPWAP for now. You will see in the link below which

There are several 'simultaneous' for the WLC Trains (and most of the Cisco product). People

were not big fans of the first Trains 5.x (quite buggy) and was introduced to CAPWAP

in 5.2 and the attacker thus is why 4.2.207 seems to be a good choice for you

In the later version or 5.2 controller software version, Cisco lightweight access points use the IETF control and commissioning of Access Points (CAPWAP) standard protocol to communicate between the controller wireless and other points of light access on the network. Versions software controller before 5.2 use the Lightweight of Point access (LWAPP) Protocol to these communications.

CAPWAP, which is based on LWAPP, is a standard and interoperable protocol that allows a controller manage a collection of wireless access points. CAPWAP is implemented in version 5.2 software controller for these reasons:

    *

To provide a path for upgrade of Cisco products that use LWAPP generation Cisco products that use CAPWAP
    *

To manage RFID readers and similar devices
    *

To allow controllers to interoperate with third party access points in the future

LWAPP compatible access points can discover and join a CAPWAP controller, and conversion to a controller of CAPWAP is transparent. For example, the process of discovery of controller and firmware download process when using CAPWAP are the same as when you are using LWAPP. The only exception is for layer 2 deployments, which are not supported by CAPWAP.

You can deploy CAPWAP and LWAPP controllers on the same network. The CAPWAP compatible software allows access points join to be a controller running CAPWAP-LWAPP. The only exception is the Access Point Cisco Aironet 1140 series, which takes in charge only CAPWAP and joined so only controllers that run CAPWAP. For example, 1130 series access point can reach a controller running CAPWAP or LWAPP considering that access of series 1140 point can join only a controller running CAPWAP.

  • 2602e Aironet setup help

    Hi all

First: Sorry for my English, it is unfortunately not my mother tongue.

I have to configure a 2602e Aironet Access Point, as a standalone access point (without WLC), but I can't find the Configuration Guides for this. I just found the "start guide", but he has described a facility combined with a WLC, I did not. Can someone help me here? She is has provided no real indication of Cisco? I've never done before.

Any help is welcome, sorry for my newbie!

And thank you very much for your help.

    Hello Ralf:

First of all, welcome to the forum. We all started here knowing less and cooperate more and better.

About your mother tongue, English is not my first language, and many people here speak English as a second language. If this isn't a problem.

About your problem, you better go for guide configuratoin Aironet IOS. This is the configuration for autonomouse mode guide.

There are also many set up examples for autonomouse APs in the Cisco site.

    See this example configuration guide:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/access_point/12.4_10b_JA/configuration/guide/scg12410b.html

See the examples of config here:

    I hope this helps.

Hi all!  We recently bought this access point for a 'fast' proof of concept for Wireless N in our hotel.  I bought the only model in the hope that it would be a quick installation to test with stand.  I am familiar with the Routing and switching with Cisco however not so much on security / wireless side.  My goal is to enable 802.11n radio with something as WPA2 with preshared key (no server radius etc.).  Just something quick that is moderately safe to test with.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Yes. This box should have done the tour. Another is to allow it to go into the "SSID Manager" page and scroll down to the bottom very. There you can select the SSID that you want to broadcast from the drop down.
