Airport Time Capsule 2013 loses Internet connection

Hello! Help, please! Bought a new airport Time Capsule 2013, hung, everything works well, but it several times a day, disconnect from the Internet. Saves only the reboot. It is very annoying ((the provider said it sees it's requests on a regular basis but does not correct. Apparently she must ask for options and more them do not ask, and she periodically asks for new, but do not correctly. It is for the USA, and I am in Ukraine. I have a wedding? (((((

Apple routers can be very problematic on some connections... You use PPPOE with any kind of modem? Apple routers have proved to be unreliable with this setup for some people. In particular the fiber connections simply do not work very well.

For you help, we need to know what kind of internet that you have and the modem... brand and model may not mean a lot but the actual type, is it a pure modem or a router? Or do you not need a router at all. If it is an installation of fiber you plug straight ethernet of ONTARIO at the time Capsule?

The demands of love.

  • Airport Time Capsule drops Wifi/Internet with 7.7.3

I started having a lot of problems with my internet connection.   I have TWC with my own Motorola Modem connected to a running 7.7.3 TC firmware (about 14 months or two).    The internet continues to lose connectivity.   The lights on the modem are beautiful and the TC has constantly green.   But in the Airport utility, the modem (internet) is yellow.   My hard CAT5 connection from my computer has no internet.   All devices as the Apple TV4, iPhone and iPad are all connected wireless because I can connect to the computer for the movies on the hard drive of my computer... But no real internet connection.

I called 6 times in the last week and it was recommended that I replace the modem... What I did.  Alas, no more than 24 hours later the same issue again.  TWC seems to think something is wrong with he TC... Is - this right, its connected to my devices, but not the modem for the internet?   I read something on the DNS servers and away provided TWC DSN servers.  Long time without activity and the TC loses the connection?

Does anyone have any help here?   Everything about my new ATV4?

    Thank you

I have TWC with my own Motorola Modem

This modem do you have? What did you replace by? Need a real model number.

The new TC there a lot of problems with some Motorola modems... but it is not easily reproducible. The fact that it ran ok for 14 and suddenly started having problems is also common... It seems they fall more often if this is the first day, and then after a year or two.

I read something on the DNS servers and away provided TWC DSN servers.

You can try using Google's DNS servers in the TC and see if that changes anything... or in the client and see if that fixes things... Any kind of test worth it... results negative are valid search... they offer a key to what is NOT the problem.

    Everything about my new ATV4?

Again, it is simple trial and error... Give up ATV4 for a trial period. Simple as pie.

Reset the TC factory and redo the installation.

    I recommend the following.

Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the drive hard in doing so.

    Universal factory reset

Turning off the TC... That is, remove the power supply cord or the power at the wall outlet, wait 10 seconds... Hold the reset button... be nice... Turn on always even now in reset... and keep holding in for another 10 seconds. You may need assistance because it is difficult to hold in reset and power on. It will show the success quickly flashing led front. Release reset... and wait a few minutes for the TC to reset and return with the factory settings. If the front LED flashes quickly you missed and simply try again. The reset is quite fragile in these... Press the key while it is just click away and not more... I've seen people bend lever or even break. I use a toothpick as a tool.

NB. None of your files on the hard drive of the TC are removed... This simply clears the settings of the router of the TC.

    The installer the TC.

And then redo the configuration of the computer with the Mavericks - Yosemite - ElCapo. (MYELCAP)

    1. the use of very short names... NO APPLE RECOMMENDED names. Without the space and pure alphanumeric characters.

for example TCgen5 for the base station and the name of the TCwifi wireless.

If the problem is using wireless TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as it also seems to help stop the nonsense. But it can be tried in the second round. IE, plan on a first and second series of changes to fix this... If all goes well... I note other steps can you tour2.

    2. use all passwords also consistent with 1. but maybe a little longer. IE 8 and 20 characters of mixed cases and numbers... no alphanumeric non-caracteres.

    3. If the TC is router, you can ignore this point. It is only a problem when the TC is bridged.

If ensure that the TC is always the same IP address... you will need to do this on the main router using a dhcp reservation... or a bit more complex setup by using the static IP address in the TC. But it's important for deriving from intellectual property in all directions when MYELCAP do not remember his name for 5 min after a reboot done for poor network management.

    4. check that your share on the computer name does not change... Make sure that it is also in line with the above... short without space and pure alphanumeric... but this change will mess up your TM backup... so be prepared to make a new, full backup. Sorry... keep this one for the second round, if you want to avoid a new backup.

5 attach the TC disc into the computer manually.

In Finder, go, connect to the server in the main menu,

Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever ip of TC is that you made static. It's a default router 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with it unless you know what you're doing).

You can use the name... SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your name of TC... local is the default domain of the TC and does not change.

However the names are not so easy as... the IP address nor reliable. They are not at least not in Yosemite. The field can also be a problem if you are not clogged or wireless directly to the Treasury Board.

    6. ensure that IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open network, wireless and Advanced preferences / TCP/IP... and the difficulty of IPv6. link-local only. Do the same for the ethernet if you use it.

It is a lot more jiggery pokery, you can try, but the above is a good start... If you still find not reliable... don't be surprised.

You may need to do more work on the computer itself. for example, to reset the NVRAM/PRAM/SMC... helped some people. A clean installation of the operating system is also useful if you update installed.

  • Airport Time Capsule 2 TB blocking my internet access.

I just bought a new airport Time Capsule 2 TB. When it is plugged in and running, I lose access to the internet! There is a wifi wireless in the House. What is the cause?

There is a wifi wireless in the House. What is the cause?

Potentially, Yes. Network Wi - Fi of the new Time Capsule can interfere with this other Wi - Fi router. What is the brand and model of the other device? What are your objectives of networking for the Time Capsule (TC)? In other words, do you want to expand the wireless of the other device, or create another Wi - Fi network, or something else?

  • New connection airport Time Capsule with others

Quick question I have a new airport Time Capsule. I'm trying to connect my 2 extremes of 2 airport with the new unit. They are in 2 different places in the House, I see them in my utility, but they're more connected... Lost... Help?

Are you using ethernet to connect or wireless extend?

When you installed the TC you replace an existing router that used EI or did you do a clean install?

If you want to extend wireless simply reset the two AE at the factory and start on with installation... they should auto select this option to expand the TC in wireless... but you must start with them the two reset otherwise it will mess up the network.

  • HOW THE AIRPORT TIME CAPSULE WIRELESS NETWORK IS PROTECTED?

I implemented the airport Time Capsule, using a DSL modem connected to the internet as its bridge.  MacBook Pro was used for initial set up by the bolt of lightning to Ethernet connector and then disconnected and works perfectly.  Now, I would like to use Wi - Fi for my Samsung phone not iOS.  On the Samsung wireless I connect to my home network using a password.  Well, I don't think that a password was never set.  How can I configure my wifi at home to establish a password?   I don't think that the modem settings should enter in solving this for me, but I'll add that the modem required a static IP address be entered for this connection when its router features have been disabled for the connection of bridge.

If the Time Capsule (TC) provides the wireless network, then you can secure it using AirPort Utility, as follows:

    • Run the AirPort Utility.
    • Select the TC and then, select change.
    • Select the wireless tab.
    • In the wireless security, select the type of security. I highly recommend that you choose: WPA2 Personal
    • Enter a password in the field password wireless. Enter the same password in the verify password.
    • Select Update.

  • Airport Time Capsule and change provider to wide band

I recently changed my broadband provider and need help with my Airport Time Capsule. I currently have backup via an ethernet cable wireless for Macbook Pro and iMac, Plug and connect every day (although I've never been certain that it's the right or even the simplest method.)

    (1) that I have to back my TC and, if so, should what steps I take?

    (2) should what changes I make on the iMac and Macbook Pro?

    (3) when I bought the TC on the local Apple Store, I was told there was a way in which I could have the TC located in another room of the House, connected wireless constantly and discreetly safeguard to avoid Plug and connect the cable manually each time.  I have sought confirmation of this but could not find any instructions.  Expert advice would be very welcome.

    Thank you very much.

If your router broadband main has changed, it is often necessary to reset the TC factory and redo the installation.

I don't know if your main router has been changed as well as the offshore service provider broadband, but if so, then, reset is necessary. Only if the TC was bridged it can be left to himself... so to speak.

    1. to answer this, I need to understand why your backup is not configured for continuous backup now.

    2. of course, it is difficult to answer this question without knowing 1. but I'm not sure why you are constantly plug and unplug the TC.

How the iMac's internet? It is connected by ethernet to the main ISP router and then you are exchanging autour cables because the TC is not configured in the network?

    Same thing with the MBP...

    3. what said you was not quite correct...

The TC, FAILED to connect on the main wireless router or the modem... it must use ethernet. However, ethernet can run in the next room in the House and can backup from there without problem... more wireless computers.

You can do wireless links by adding a second router wireless to apple... but makes it much more complicated but also less reliable. Wireless links are unreliable enough without adding a second.

The best configuration is the TC directly connected by short cord to the main modem or to the router provided by your ISP. Then tell me the make and model of this device.

If you were hoping for hitting the autonomous TC and connect wireless to the main router which is not going to happen. Apple makes their routers NOT interface with any other wireless brand.

Tell me how the iMac connects to internet and MBP as well.

  • Airport Time Capsule does not completely erase

    1. I sell my Time Capsule airport.  I've referenced the article here: check, repair, or erase a disc AirPort Time Capsule - Apple Support.

2 - I have completed each step, as shown in the article and place the drive to perform a secure erase drive with 7 assists, which was completed in a little less than 24 hours.

    3. I then checked to ensure that it has been erased and when I click on the Time Machine preferences it says that there are 2 TB 2 TB.

    4. However; He also has dates marked for the "oldest backup" and "Last backup", which I would have assumed that there is no data stored, to include my more old and more recent data backups.

    5. Furthermore, I checked to see why he had these dates and clicked "Enter Time Machine".  To my surprise, there are a number of very recent backups between now and the date of the "more old backup.

    Note:

    6. the time Machine airport has been recorded since mid-September.  It was unplugged and stored in its intact original packaging.  I took it out a week or two just to check there and have been using it without any problem - works perfectly and perform backups.

7 - the 'oldest' backup is dated the day I put the unit in stock.  It seems that there is no other 'safeguards' existing before that date; However, when I scroll back in time Machine, there are windows that appear earlier on this date in September, but there are no dates on top of these windows and I can't access it.

8 as mentioned, it is said that 2 TB to 2 TB is available, so for me it's contradictory?

9 - the device is connected to the internet and my computer has access to the unit all the time he was leading the erase process.

    10. I did not attempt to restore from any of these previous dates in the case of an error, and I lost everything!

11 - Time Capsule airport is one of the newer models (tour version) purchased, I think, fall of 2014 or 2015 spring.

Get help to help me erase this disc completely would be very well appreciated.  Thank you.

    See you soon

    Dave

    3. I then checked to ensure that it has been erased and when I click on the Time Machine preferences it says that there are 2 TB 2 TB.

It is truly erased... It would show a loss of ability otherwise.

    4. However; He also has dates marked for the "oldest backup" and "Last backup", which I would have assumed that there is no data stored, to include my more old and more recent data backups.

This information is stored in the local plist... you also need to reset your local time Machine.

    5. Furthermore, I checked to see why he had these dates and clicked "Enter Time Machine".  To my surprise, there are a number of very recent backups between now and the date of the "more old backup.

Time Machine can make snapshots the... so when the TC is not available it stores the files in your hard drive... This makes it confusing to people.

11 - Time Capsule airport is one of the newer models (tour version) purchased, I think, fall of 2014 or 2015 spring.

In the Time Machine disk tab... Make sure that it always shows full disk is available. So it should show up here at 2 TB free as in Time Machine. As long as this is the case, you're good to sell.

Do a quick erase... and disconnect it from your network. Do not put it back. Time Machine can still detect it's available... did you do a factory reset you need to do this as well to get rid of your passwords etc.

  • Time Machine (on Mac) does not detect the airport Time Capsule

Originally posted on the page of the airport, but seems to be the better question for this group. Sorry for the double post

Looking for advice on how to get the Time Machine utility for access to my Time Capsule. I use an iMac in late 2012 with MAC OS 10.12 TimeCapsule is 2015 7.7.7 running latest firmware. Airport utility is the latest firmware 6.3.7.

When I run the application Time Machine, Time Capsule is not detected. I tried the two WiFi and with cables connected Ethernet (not tried USB yet) and my Time Capsule doesn't have a lightning bolt or firewire ports.

Open Airport utility & see the airport time capsule. I can see all connected devices, including the MAC, but no prompt activation Time Machine on the Time Capsule.

I recently used TM on this iMac with a G-Technology drive. It auto detects the time machine and executes a back up. But airport Time Capsule will not.

    Any suggestions?

Sierra has been problematic with the TC.

    1. make sure you don't have any charge virus protection software. In fact, I would say that disable all software 3rd part at the moment.

    2. make sure that you can actually write to disk of TC.

Attach the TC disc in the finder and copy a file on disk, you can delete it later... It's just to ensure that you have full write permission. If it does not for the most part, you won't be able to use Time Machine... If you can then try TM immediately...

Just to be clear, the TC is a network device. You have tested with ethernet and wireless... Ok.. They are only suitable methods. You cannot use USB. And clearly, TC has never had nor will never be ports Firewire or lightning.

    3. no chance that a reset complete TC. This will not delete the files on the hard drive, but you must make sure that the device is configured on the current computer.

    4. There are many positions in these days... read through them and do some research. Sierra is a bleeding edge new... So wait you to spend a lot of the precious liquid if you choose to be an early adopt.

  • Airport Time Capsule and WD MyBook

I'm a newbie Macbook Pro owner, about a week now, El Capitan running.

I've just hung up my Airport Time Capsule (3 t) and it seems to work, as the reports of Time Machine backup complete.  I am also connected to the WiFi Airport.

The Installation Guide says I can connect a hard drive via the USB port.  I have connected a WD MyBook USB port; It is in the format exFAT and contains the data from my old computer to Windows 7.

What should I do to make this available for the Macbook Pro?  I don't see anywhere in the finder.

The time Capsule cannot read USB drives to NTFS or exFAT format. Plug it directly into the Mac.

  • Need help with the implementation of a replacement airport Time Capsule

Hi... Recognizing the help. My 1 TB airport Time Capsule (ATC) crashed and I bought a new 2 TB ATC to replace. In my preference system, Time Machine reflects that my ATC 1 TB is still active. How to pay safely my 2 new cases of tuberculosis ATC to replace the 1 TB ATC?

Assuming that you 1. already connected the new TC on your network, and/or 2. you were able to save all data on TC 1 TB, or simply do not take care of him You can just open Time Machine preferences, turn the Time Machine off, and then select the disk in the new time Capsule. A brand-new first backup starts to run, and it will certainly take time.

Another option is to connect the new TC on ethernet directly on your Mac and then select the Time Machine preferences, this will speed up the first backup.

In case you were able to archive the old backup and transfer it to your new TC, you will continue your backup schedule by simply selecting the new TC in Time Machine preferences.

    I hope this helps.

I disabled IPv6 on the suggestion of the counsel of COX because Cox and Apple have a problem with these capsules of time regarding IPv6 and IPv4 is supposed to work.

It may be a contributing factor, where the transition to IPv6 is causing issues, but raised another problem.

  • Implemented new airport Time Capsule

When defining the new airport Time Capsule, I think you have the ability to create a new wireless network or extending the existing.

What is the best choice and why?

    Thank you

Create a wireless network is used only when an Ethernet cable connects permanently to another router or a modem to time Capsule. Like the illustration in the Installation Guide.

Extend a wireless network is used only when the Capsule connects wireless to another router from Apple.  This parameter cannot be used if you have a 3rd party router providing your wireless signal.

Bottom line... Use the option create a wireless network with an Ethernet cable... unless... you already have another router from Apple and you want the time Capsule to connect wireless.

  • Airport Time Capsule ethernet and WiFi installation

I am trying to set up my home network, but also, somehow, the practice run for the configuration of my future business...

    Here is the component.

-Modem: Fast 5250 BELL FIBE Home Hub 2000.

    -Airport Time Capsule 1 t (a big)

    -AirPort Extreme (large)

-AirPort Express (size of the Apple TV)

Here are the different coverage area and device usually used in the:

-office: Printer via USB or ethernet, ethernet MacPro, 2xMacBookAir.

-Living room: Smart TV, Apple TV2, PS4 (all via ethernet if possible) as well as a bunch of iOS devices and laptop computer via a Wi - Fi connection

-In room: IOS, Apple TV via Wi - Fi device.

So good, here's the catch, the modem's in the entry closet surrounded by concrete, so I close the Wi - Fi on it. Cable Ethernet running from there, at the office, upstairs room and the main living area. The plan was to put the TimeCapsule 1 t in the office, extreme in the living room and express on the floor. But I already have problems that they can't be all connect via Ethernet in the modem... Oh! What a mess, he made... So I saw on the support page from apple, is it better to put the airport Time capsule 1 t as principal to create the network. So if I put the Capsule in the closet as the main will be backup my stuff via ethernet?

Also, I have the older version of Time Capsule (dish 500 GB). Shud I use it as the main airport will be connected to it via ethernet anyway?

And finally, I connect to the modem using PPPoE bell hand and another airport the main via Bridge DHCP mode. Is this fair?

Probably all covered already in other posts sorry if it is redundant. Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me.

  • iCloud photo library and airport time capsule

I'm willing to put in place a back up of my macbook pro and think using an airport time capsule.

However, I also want to start using iCloud photo library.  I prefer not to keep the original photos on any of my devices to keep the space they use to a minimum.  I was wondering if I can save the originals in the time capsule and also use it for back ups, although I understand that this is not the safest place to keep the two sets of data.  Alternatively, if I can get an external hard drive to time capsule with a job to organize the original photos.  Can the time capsule also back up this external hard drive.

    So I would then:

    • My macbook pro saved on the Time Capsule and, possibly, the iMac to my wife, if possible
    • Pictures saved on the hard drive external and saved on the Time Capsule
    • Photos stored in iCloud photo library

Seems to me have asked a lot of questions and do not know if it's a very complicated way to get a result.

1 - iCloud library is not a backup

2 - question TM are really better ask in the forum OS for your computer - we are users of Photos either way by using TM - not the TM experts - these links are also useful - use Time Machine to back up or restore your Mac - Apple Support - http://pondini.org/TM/FAQ.html

3 - when you have the original photos on the TM volume you do not have a backup at all - when the TM drive fails, you lose all

4 - TM I do not (see #2) backup hard drive attached

5 - Yes, you can back up several computer for a TC - I do hourly

    6. the best IMHO is what I do - a mac equipped with a player of great size that all photos and original and is saved by using TM hourly and a clone of all the more days and other Macs with storage drive limited with optimized photos
