  Diameter of the lens is functionally referred to as focal length. For HDR-AS15, f = 2.5 mm (1/8 in.) the conversion of a 35 mm camera and for movies: 15.3 mm (5/8 in.). Always Max Effective Image resolution: 2.0 megapixel. It does not support video calls.

• HDR-AS15 future updates for still images

  I had a question about the possible updates of the firmware for the HDR-AS15. As I understand the AS15 has the 11.9MP same sensor as the HDR-AS30. However, the still images on the AS15 are limited to 2MP. Is this something that can be changed in an update of the firmware? To allow the AS15 take pictures even at 11.9MP as does the AS30? As both cameras have the same sensors, this should be plausible.

  I love my AS15 but I would like to take higher resolution pictures and take full advantage of the sensor of the camera.

• HDR-AS15 in 3D?

  GoPro has developed a stereoscopic box for their Hero2 camera a few years ago. It turned out to be quite popular, but it is no longer manufactured (and none is available for Hero3).

  3D has declined in popularity some time ago, but the Rift of the Oculus is fast making it popular again.

  I've actually used a pair of cameras Sony HDR-AS15 for 3D by placing a pair of cameras side by side and just synchronize the images manually with a synchronization signal. It works very well and looks quite amazing, especially in 60 fps!

  Get firmly aligned cameras turned a bit problematic. In addition, it would be great if the cameras could better sync.

  Maybe Sony could design and release a 3D for the HDR-AS15 housing owner, like the GoPro 3D?

  Basically, the HDR-AS15 housing 3D could:

  • accommodate two cameras HDR-AS15, side by side, remote of 65 mm (65 mm human average = RPI = best stereoscopy), firmly aligned
  • Provide a tripod mounting screw hole
  • Allow access to the stereo microphone (I guess we should have both a raincoat and a 'skeleton' 3D housing available as separate products?)
  • Includes a sync cable, between the Sony camera communication ports, to keep the two synchronized cameras (you will get an extra bonus if you can keep even the phases of CMOS sensor, exposure and balance of whites in sync!)

  I have, on the one hand, would immediately buy this.

  I am aware that there are some real 3D camcorders, but they have their own limitations: too narrow, IPD, too narrow field of view (and no available fisheye lens) and so on.

  If you want to view the files in your memory card, you must use the USB cable supplied in the connection of the cam of action directly on your computer. We cannot view the contents of the memory card on your computer via Wi-Fi.

  You can use the features WiFi cam action to transfer images on your smartphone and to control the cam of action via your smartphone. At the time of writing, there is no software available but that will allow us to perform similar functionality on a computer. We do not have information on whether there will be a software that is developed for this purpose.

  Recently I had a weird problem, when I record things on my camera, 10-15 minutes after I start to record the screen gets blury, really blury, you don't see anything on the screen at the end of 30 minutes.

  You can use a class 4 SD memory (Standard size) of capacity up to 32 GB and a class 10 SD (Standard size) of capacity up to 8 GB memory.  Up to 64 GB SD cards have been verified to work with your camcorder.

• How to use the Photomatix Pro for HDR plugin?

  I have the plugin Photomatix Pro 3.2.9 for Lightroom 3.3 and you can't make it sucessfully validate an image.  When I select camera 3 bracketed images into Lightroom and export to Photomatix Pro to do HDR the image seems to export them all right as I see the LR progress graphic top left showing the process of the images until the end, but then nothing happens.  I'd guess no image has been registered but simply exported to Photomatix, but then nothing shows and do not open or handle anything. Can I still use Photomatix successfully on its own without the use of LR but as I use LR as my image browser it would be beneficial to use it.  Any help please?  I'm on Mac OSX.

  I used to use Aperture but have really achieved by using pictures. It does the job and is improving all the time. I shoot a lot of HDR and also keep the original. Is there a way to filter the only HDR versions and thus have a quick way of removing the non - HDR of same photo versions?

  I recently got a sony action cam to capture images of my ATV rides, but I wonder if its possible to have a video "flip" option in the settings menu when mounting the cam backwards on my handlebars. I know that cam Gopro Hero 3 had that option. Perhaps in a future update?

  The Sony Action camcorder HDRAS15 don't have a Flip video recording option.
