  I found myself with the same issue - although, for me, everything was working and then stopped at random...

  Since there is no useable answer to your question here, I begin troubleshooting me...

  What I found was a simple enough solution which seemed to reset the internet connection in desktop mode:

  1. to reveal desktop mode from the menu of charms (roll mouse over the right side of the screen)

  2. Select the charm of "settings".

  3. Select 'Network' in the parameter options

  4. right click on the network, you're connected to, and then select "turn sharing enabled or disabled.

  5 turn on network sharing

  This should reset your internet settings and retrieve your desktop mode in the loop...

• ALienware Alpha - controller question

  I just got my Alienware Alpha from Friday, rather than go through the console mode with the controller provided instead, I plugged a mouse & keyboard & entered into mode of office since the beginning. Now my 360 controller acts as a mouse & controller at the same time. I looked around & apparently because I jumped mode console, I can not disable the mouse for the controller option. I tried to not uninstall Alpha Command Center because apparently it worked for someone else, I had no luck however.

  I did something similar when I arrived at Alpha.  Since then, I came to the conclusion that it is not a good idea to remove the Alpha user interface (or all alpha software), but it is a good compromise.

  I suggest that you re-install Center Alpha UI/order - do not know if this is possible - otherwise you will need to restore your Alpha to factory settings and start over (I had to do that!).  I hope it won't be too bad as you only Friday.

  You will need to connect to the interface user Alpha a couple of times and make updates.  There are at least two updates that fixes the controller and also graphic problems too.  You can only do these updates with the Alpha user interface, so it is important to keep for other updates.

  Now, on to the solution.  This allows to boot directly to Windows rather than load the interface user of Alpha.

  Log in desktop mode.

  -Open a window (command) in now the Windows key and press R

  -In the run box type: netplwiz

  - This opens a window of parameters of user accounts.  Check the box "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer".

  -Click OK.

  Once you have done what the above, your alpha will start as a normal Windows PC, so you can choose which user account to log (Alpha UI or Windows desktop), and it will default to the last used.  The startup time is much faster, but it will ask you to enter your password as a normal PC Windows.

  The only problem I found is that, after that a Windows update the controller no longer works.  I suspect that this is because Windows is a full stop and restart after the update instead of using the quick start that she normally does.  All you need to do in this case is to connect to the interface user Alpha once again, and then disconnect you, then back to your Windows account.  This will fix it until the next Windows update in this case, you simply do the same thing again!

  I hope this helps.  I've been running with this configuration for a few months and it worked fine.

• (Redirected) Alienware alpha bugs

  I recently purchased the Alienware alpha;

  I noticed a few bugs with the user of Alpha interface I'd like to be addressed.

  First of all, there is no option to specify a user name "" when choosing a WiFi network.  Maximum space to provide a password for the user.  It forces me to use the windows interface to connect to the network and then start steam through the Office for windows 8 (completely defeat the purpose of the UI alpha)

  Secondly, there are many problems with a wired xbox 360 controller iin switching between UI alpha and the situation as a whole steam UI.  Entering the steam UI after the launch through the alpha of the user interface with a wire of the selection process controller goes crazy and appears as if the game keys or the joystick is pressed constantly. Therefore, it is not possible to make all the selections through the intention.

  Third, (my biggest problem with the UI alpha).  When you enter the desktop mode, I have to select my user account (choice between the 'Alpha' usergroup and my admin user), and then enter a password. Instead, it would be more convenient when you select the desktop through the user interface of alpha mode, the system should go directly to the desktop.

  I appreciate that my comments go to the alpha development team to address these deficiencies.  Thank you

• QuickTime does not work in firefox in windows desktop mode 24 8

  I am running Firefox 24 on Windows 8 Pro 64 - bit in desktop mode. I have QuickTime plugin installed 7.7.4. But when I try to go http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/ play trailers all I get is the black box and nothing is done. No prompt to allow a plugin, no error message, nothing. I tried to see if it will work with other browsers, so I tried Google Chrome. I went to the site, invited to authorize the plugin and then was able to play trailers with no problems. The page won't even display properly in IE. So, it makes me conclude that it is a browser problem. Can you help me please? Thank you.

  Do you have a plugin (color) icon on the address bar?

  What do you see if you right click on black space?

  You can use 'Inspect element' in the context menu to open the built-in Inspector (Firefox/tools > Web Developer;) CTRL + SHIFT + I) to see which element is selected.

• (Redirected) Alienware Alpha - monitor or TV

  I'm looking for comments and suggestions. I just bought 2 i5 Alienware Alpha for my 2 boys. They have screens VGA, that they can use, or they can use their HDMI TV. If we have to abandon the VGA they finally to have replacements for TV. Or, we leave only TVs and get new monitors or TVs for the Alienware.

  Someone at - it suggestions? (Cannot afford monitors suggested because of the purchase of the consoles).

• Alienware Alpha refuses to play Star Wars Battlefront 3

  Not too sure what else to try...

  Bought a copy of PC of Star Wars Battlefront 3 of Dell.

  He arrived, installed original, installed the game, but the game would not load (game seems to be gray out originally). Installed on my Media Center PC Battlefront (i5 / 16 GB-RAM/GTX770SLI) and it will start and play without any problems.

  Went back to my Alienware Alpha (i5 / 8GB - RAM)... Upgrade to Windows 10... still has not loaded...

  Experience of GeForce uninstalled and reinstalled and updated drivers for the last... Still has not loaded...

  Updated RAM on my Alienware Alpha from 8 GB to 16 GB (ordered through Dell... shot in the dark)...  Still load the game...

  GeForce experience sees the game, but is unable to optimize or restart...

  Account Origin see the game... but it's greyed out on the Alpha...

  Windows sees the game as being "set up" and is unable to launch...

  Any help or suggestions here? I called the origin, with me by checking the settings of my account and some basic PC troubleshooting... Unable to find a problem...

  Reference called Dell... Transferred 3 times and told me its probably a "software problem" and that maybe they could help me if I paid them $129.00?... What is rather low because I bought the system, game and RAM directly through Dell...

  I've seen countless comments, posts and videos of people with Alphas playing this game...

  Anyone have any ideas on what I can try?

  After running around trying everything I could think of including updating my drivers and the operating system to upgrade my hardware and spend a few hours on the phone with the support of different groups... I ventured out of my own again and got the game to work...

  I had to completely uninstall the game and then re - download it again and reinstall it from scratch...

  Once I did the game loaded and play a lot.

• Alienware Alpha order deadline

  I ordered an Alienware Alpha (basic model) recently, and I called customer service because it appeared that my order would not to the expected delivery date. After be bounced of the customer support Dell to the changes of the order and return the customer, the rep disconnected (accidentally?) me. Changes was told that there was a manufacturing problem and I had to know my restored order.

• Could not connect in Windows 8, but connected start in desktop mode

  I purchased this new HP laptop for Christmas, came home and went through the set up process, I did not create a microsoft account only then, I just jumped to implement later, well, I just create a new account of microsoft and went through the verification process and all , but I still can't use one of the applications in the start menu of windows 8, whenever I try to use one, it will not connect, it says that it cannot connect and I'm connected, in fact I'm on my laptop right now with a full connection in desktop mode, but none of the applications will sign the start mode of windows 8.   Can anyone help?

  First, clear the cache of the Store by opening a run window (Windows Logo key + R), by typing wsreset and pressing ENTER.

  If there is not cure, check your internet connection, i.e. press the Windows Logo key + X (or right-click or press and hold on the lower left corner) and choose Control Panel > small icons > Internet Options > Connections tab > LAN Settings (bottom) and remove the Proxy Server tick > OK, etc.

  Perform the steps mentioned below and see if it helps.

  a: Install the latest drivers from 1/13 legacy for Windows 8 (reboot if needed later)

  b: Open Device Manager (right click on computer, click on properties, then Device manager on the left column)

  c: Expand display adapters and right click on your graphics card and click on Update driver software

  d: Browse my computer for driver software > let me pick from a list of device on my computer drivers

  e: Select the driver that has (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v1.1) at the end and click Next.

  Pen Ink becomes pixelated and imprecise in Microsoft Onenote display integrated when an external monitor is connected and running in extended desktop mode. Recalibrate the screen makes no difference. Anyone know why and have a solution?

  I also have this problem and it is very frustrating. I have some information so. It is a driver problem. Not a hardware problem. I have a partition of Windows 8 CP and using two monitors there is absolutely no question, however, lenovo drivers will not install which might indicate the problem. I think that ptsven may be ahead of the driver that is causing the problem. Have not had time to mess with it more but if someone finds what happens, thanks for posting. Thank you.

  Edit: Yes, the Wacom driver "DSI tablet" is responsible for the quality of bad line with a second monitor.  If you go to programs and uninstall "DSI Tablet' poor quality will disappear completely, however, you will lose the adaptation of feather program in the screen of the settings for the pen.  If this isn't a problem for you, simply uninstall it and you'll be fine.

  I tried to install an earlier version of the driver that is in the drivers section and it also had the same problem with the quality of the screen and was actually a little worse the new driver.  In my view, that there is incompatibility with the graphics engine of the system.  If you crank the graphics up to max and crank the CPU up to turbo max, for a short in a few lines, you will see the best screen quality and then something adjusts and it goes back to the shit even once.  If anyone can replicate it?  It will take a strong sense of noticing the change.  I have almost no.

• I'm trying to get a glimpse of the desktop mode

  BUT only the mobile version makes its appearance when I saw on the browsers, regardless of the browser, but I use a desktop computer to do this. Is it possible to change the preview in office mode or to get a Tablet, mobile and desktop. My site should be implemented for mobile versions and desktop at present.

  It is actually a template that I downloaded from muselayers.com so I tried to contact their service of the situation, but nothing helped.

  Advice, information, solutions to this problem?

  Edit: Okay get this, it appears therefore as desktop mode when I saw under the mobile device on muse, but only for Internet Explorer Setup. Google chrome is still in preview of mobile/phone device, and that the browser mode is more relevant to me because it is more widely used.

  This seems to be the case with your specific device. Its resolution, type size or monitor screen information triggers the redirect at disposal of the phone.

  Hi all

  Start a week or two ago I had a problem with lighting effects on my Alienware Alpha. When I first put it on the end of function bit turns in a few seconds they turn off. The only way have to stay on is to start on the office and go in the software AlienFX and change the color and click on apply / save. Everyone knows this? I tried to reinstall the command center by using the download page of the Alpha pilot, but has nothing good.

  For those who have a similar problem, I have this problem. I found a post on the forums Alienware arena, indicating that there is a problem with the PC things standby in console mode. Basically everything what I had to do was to start in console mode, select 'Sleep' in the power options, wait a few seconds and to wake up the PC. My lights work fine now.
