• Alienware M17xR4 speakers and the headphones does not

  Once I plugged headphones Apple (like those that come with iPhones) on the plug headset no longer works. Even after that I reconnected the headphones into the Jack, the headphones or the speakers do not work. I tried different headphones as well, but they don't always work.

  When I went in the sound control panel (windows 7) I see the "speakers" and "digital output" of Sound Blaster Recon3di. When I try to play some sounds he plays through the 'digital output' and not the speakers. I also tried to disable the 'digital output' but it does not always play through the speakers, and only through the "digital output". The speakers are set to the default device.

  I am the owner of this laptop (M17x R4) and learned that there was some defect fundamental with the motherboard drivers and bios / Setup.

  I had my motherboard and charge cable and speakers replaced several times now with Dell and the problem comes back.

  Either the sound does not work (speakers / headphones etc.) or the cable from the charger (AC adapter) is not recognized as a valid cable and thus is will not charge the laptop.

  I wanted to share something that works 100% of the time for me now to solve this problem. Unfortunately, I consider that this defective equipment by Dell, but they do not recognize this.

  Keep the drivers card mother Bios A12 handy that Dell has for download on this model. At any time, this problem occurs, reinstall the drivers from the A12. When the computer reboots, the problem disappeared... at least for a while.  Give it a few days or a few weeks, but he'll be back.  When this is the case, re - install the A12 drivers... problems go back... temporarily.

  Something is corrupting the drivers or the MOBO config or something...

  Just re-installed A12 because there on the 15th time and boop, my speakers again, works as expected. This laptop price shouldn't have these horrible problems.

  Hello, I have an Alienware M17XR4 with a Nvidia GeForce GTX680 and I was wondering if it is possible to update my graphics card. Ideally, upgrading to a new Nvidia card like will work. My current set up is Windows 7 Professional, Intel Core i7-3840QM CPU @ 2.80 GHz, RAM 32 G processor. Any help would be appreciated on the possible upgrade better, where to get them and how to install it. Thank you!

  You should be able to verify by seeing if 120 Hz is the frequency of maximum framerate as opposed to 60 Hz (for Nvidia Control Panel).

  I currently own a computer laptop alienware M17XR4 with 32G RAM, i7 3630QM @ 2.40 GHz CPU, 660 M Nvidia card graphic and 1600 x 900 display.

  I want to update the graphics card to an Nvidia 780 M and the display at 1920 x 1080.

  I have 2 questions:

  (1) the 780 M will work in my installation and if anything only that I have to put extra apart to install the card and install the drivers?

  (2) I am looking at a display screen 1920 x 1080 120 Hz 3D. This race in my system because my current screen is only 60 Hz and if so, what additional measures do I need to order to make it work.

• Already bought an Alienware 14 - curious about the upgrade of the screen

  Is it possible to have the monitor on my Alienware 14 updated? I was hoping to increase the resolution of 1366 x 768. I was wondering about getting a slab IPS 300 nits 1080 p set in after seeing an article on the point. I was also wondering on a matte screen vs glossy screen. I use the laptop inside in general.

  Now I've noticed a few rasterized textures on my screen and I was hoping to just get a level would lead it up to the same quality as my desktop computer monitor.

  So, is it possible to upgrade the monitor after the purchase, ideally through dell, or do I have to use a third party? Secondly, what would be the cost and it would alter the warranty if I by dell (such as differing from the guarantee of original purchase value of the laptop).

• Alienware 14, fan only runs on start & everything seems to be fine

  I just upgraded the i5 CPU 4200 m to i7-4700mq myself. It starts fine, but after about 10 min running windows I noticed that the fan does not turn.

  I restarted to check and noticed only towers for about half a second to start, stops completely when it reaches the bios menu at the head of alien.

  Then I turned it off and start looking for solutions, won't damage the CPU...

  HWmonitor allows to control the fan and CPU temperatures. Try to re - install the control centre Alienware and updated to latest BIOS A09.

  If the problem persists, run an ePSA Diagnostics to check for hardware errors.

  I might need to enter the key on which is located on the battery (but how when I can not change the key)

  I also have a recovery disk (that came with the computer) which can reinstall windows 7 {last resort}
  Before you say it could be due to an update of windows, but I do not run updates unless necessary [Yes that would make my computer windows more vlurnerable but I can't have a update to mess up the computer which it is once]

  on my Alienware M17XR4 and it keeps failing.  When I go to the website of AMD driver, it tells me that I am current.  FURTHERMORE, none of my power settings work or I am able to set up the sleep button.

  I use Windows 7 Ultimate

  I was able to fix this by (1) the deactivation of the pilot, (2) by deleting the software on my machine, (3) reboot.  Then re-downloaded the driver and installed.  The reason why it worked, is that my machine is using the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 M as my main graphics card.  If Intel is your only card you may not be able to do what I did...

• Impossible to reinstall Windows 10 on SSD

  Hi everyone, I need some help with my new laptop Alienware 15 R2. For reasons that I do not talk, I needed to do a clean install of the operating system. The way my pc was setup with the OS on the SSD and the SATA drive being simply a reader of data for my user files (Documents, music, etc.).

  Before I did the Windows Recovery Image on a USB key (got the file/link from the page drivers Dell for my pc). Then I booted from the USB and crossed the guests of Reset my PC, choose the setting that has removed all personal files, applications, and settings. The computer ran through the process, but somewhere along the line, something went wrong (not sure since I left during the night) and it says that windows could not complete reset error. So, I tried go through the same steps again and this time it worked. However, after the installation, I realized that the operating system had been installed on the disk SATA and SSD was not yet visible by the Explorer of Windows files, Device Manager, etc.. I had to manually install the Intel Rapid Storage driver until Windows recognize the SSD drive.

  After searching the interwebs I couldn't know how easily "switch" for the SSD SATA BONE. So I plugged the USB from Windows Recovery Image key in and tried to put it back again, hoping that things would be settling or I would give the possibility to select the HARD drive to install the operating system on. well, nor of those who went. The operating system installed again on the SATA drive.

  My latest idea was to unplug the SATA drive, and then try the Windows Recovery Image. Unfortunately, I got errors with resetting my PC options. If I choose the option to keep my personal files the error mentioned something about having a locked partition/drive. If I set the option delete all files the error says something about a missing required partition/disk.

  For those who were able to read this diatribe together, all the ideas/help? I want to get my laptop Alienware to update a State with the OS on the SSD and SATA as additional data drive. If anyone could help please I would appreciate it a lot.

  Likely USB automatically selects the largest drive... You may need to wipe the HARD drive and then remove the drive HARD and then restore without the HARD drive using the USB. Then add the HARD drive and putting into service it...

• Replace a motherboard of an Aurora R3 with a card mother Aurora R4?

  Essentially that the. Can I order a motherboard that has been used in a R4 and put it in my R3? The CPU cooler will work on both? I have a ti new 780gtx in my R3. Most of the things work very well, but from time to time it will reboot. I read it could be the power supply, or it could be the lack of support from the UEFI Bios on the old mothers R3 OEM. Thought to cover all the bases and move the two out.

  I was counting on getting a dedicated power supply Bay of Booster X 5, but I can't find them anywhere. Out of Stock.

  Just a quick, I replaced my MB, CPU and RAM on my R3 last week and I had no problem.

  I have a MSI Z97M Gaming (micro ATX) and all lights and control center work. I had to change the cooling system, because I wasn't able to fix on the MB, but the rest of the installation was really easy... and the work of Council MIO perfectly.

  I think it is there is a lot of buzz around permutation MB and Alienware system update, but it is not complicated and complex... and lights still work!

• Update the BIOS Alienware x 51 now does not start

  So I have recently reinstalled Windows 7 and a re-install my drivers and using the products download page on another computer Dell drivers and download them to a flash drive and upgrade on the primary computer. I have finished all updates until I got to the BIOS update, I installed in and rebooted my system, now it starts but freezes and does not move to the Alienware Logo. Just to put it out there, I have updated BIOS A08 A14. The screen that I can like normal Alienware Logo screen, showing that I use an Alienware x 51, a bar of blue loading, BIOS Version A14 and then Setup F2 and F12 Boot Options. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Hello

  Check in the Bios (for access to the tap water of the F2 key on startup Bios) under the Startup section, look for an option called Boot Mode and make sure that its game in the UEFI. Also, make sure that the Secure Boot option is turned off, save the changes and reboot the system. Let us know how it goes.
