Alignment of drive for PERC 5i SATA RAID 5

Forum of HI, I read many posts and document best practice VMWare on alignment of disc and I have a question.

The document and the posts I've read all assume that SAN is used for storage. My question is:

These guidelines work for storage space including 4 SATA 7200 drive RAID 5 array using PERC 5i as well?

I created my VMFS using then the fdisk command gui Lu gave 128 as a point of departure but on the comments file systems. Keeping in mind that I'm not using SAN shouldn't I always align the partition of windows NT from 64 K or should it be something else?

Please notify.

Thank you!

And my question is can I I align comments to 64 K victory discs or should the number to be anything?

The starting block indicates where to START data.  So it is divisible by 64K, that's fine.  It should be the default value, which is 64 k, however Windows 2008 using a slightly different boot / MBR table, which is why marketing to the address which is 1024K, but I would no Windows 2003 start to 1024, 64K will be fine.

    Hello dell and community!

I never thought that I need to contact the community to the problem. However, now the day has come. Before describing the problem, I must say that your hardware and software provided is very good and I'm happy to use your equipment.

I needed to install windows server 2003 x 86-based PowerEdge T420 (serial number: B4 * 2). I am well aware that this server is not designed for this operating system. Unfortunately, available only on a server and the decision of the tasks it involves the use of a dedicated server windows 2003 x 86 (used for the automation of industry), that is to say without virtualization.

    I found these instructions here:
    en.Community.Dell.com/.../3846.How-to-install-Windows-2003-on-Dell-12th-Generation-PowerEdge-Servers
I have done it. However, after the installation of windows server 2003 x 86 me when with the logo displays BSOD (0x0000007b, ATA SATA mode is selected in the BIOS). Third party connection LiveUSB showed that shocks, unfortunately, are not created, even if I choose an option by pressing F8 before starting the system.

But, because of this doubt, if I choose to boot from a LiveUSB and point the driver like on a flash drive by utility Dell USB key F6 Driver utility, the sections are connected and well I can handle. LiveUSB, by the way, is based on Server 2003.

Thank you in advance, your team is great!

First of all, I strongly suggest that you buy a server used on eBay or your local classifieds.

Second, I suggest you that allows you to integrate the driver of your installation instead of the USB/F6 function media puff nLiteOS.com. (Integrate SP2 if not already included while you're there - the drivers might need SP2.)

Are you sure that your "industry automation' may not work on a virtual platform? Many will work.

  • Need win 7 driver for PERC 9 Mini h330

I need to install Win 7 64 on a workstation Precision Rack 7910. The SP1 installation disc is not a driver for the RAID controller.  Download of 7910 page support is an exe file that is not recognized and won't let me extract the driver to copy. I couldn't find one that I can put on a USB key and the Windows installation routine will recognize it as a valid driver.

I tried to search for the site of Dell and Googling for him, also tried to find it on another victory 7910 10 running.

Can you help me to find or suggest a work around?

    No "circumvention" is necessary.

You can extract the drivers from the Package update for Microsoft Windows format with the switch e, but one you need is the driver hard drive format:

    http://www.Dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=KMGRV&FILEID=3398353767&osCode=W764&ProductCode=precision-r7910-workstation&LanguageCode=en&CategoryID=SG

You must download and run the file to extract the content before using it.

    Hi Cuong

I guess you use a bad video driver or a bad graphics card driver update procedure.
Toshiba recommends to use own graphics drivers. All the drivers for laptops Toshiba Europe you will find on this site:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

After having successfully downloaded, please unzip the driver. There you should find a setup.exe. Please install it.

Well, if this procedure doesn't work please go to Device Manager and select the graphics card and right click. Then, you select the option Update driver. The source of the driver is the driver download.

  • Need driver for Win XP SATA

I bought a HP model p6130f, AMD Phenom X 4, 8 G ram, Nvidia 9100 with Vista 64. Of course, a lot of my software utilities do not work on Vista or 64. I want to dual boot XP, but can't find SATA drivers for the XP installation.

I have found some drivers and even have a floppy drive attached and managed to find a few blank diskettes. When I put the drivers on the disk, they have not been recognized. The error message was looking for some kind of OEM text file. I don't know yet what is the format of the SATA files must be.

    Help, please!

Oh and once I get the loaded XP I need drivers for this machine.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    John

    1. Enter the BIOS and turn off the RAID. XP should install with no additional driver needed.
    2. Make your Vista recovery disc set before making the changes. The instructions are HERE if necessary
    3. Make a profile of your machine and your drivers before making the change, such as Belarc Advisor
  • Replace drives in Perc 4/Di RAID 1 with the largest capacity of the disks without the need of resettlement

    Hi all

I need support for readers to replace Perc 4/Di (we need more free space!)

    OS: Windows Server 2003

    Actually: Raid 1-> 2 x 146 GB drives

    Next: Raid 1-> 2 x 300 GB drives

    Volume C: (System Partition)

    Volume D: (data)

The system partition is on the table. I'm running out of space, so I intend to replace the 146 GB drives with 300 GB drives.

My question is, how do I replace the array to use all the space on the 300 GB drives without having to reinstall the system? And once I have the table showing 300 GB, what is the best way to extend the system partition and your data?

    Tanks in advance.

  • Re: Need driver XP SATA/RAID for Satellite Pro U400

    Hi all

I've searched and searched, but I can't for the life of me find suitable driver to install XP on my machine. It came pre-installed with Vista which is useless to me because of the instability, bugs, just be a poor OS. I got the new laptop for a week now and have not been able to use again, so it would really appreciate someone pointing me in the direction of SATA/RAID drivers for XP.

    Thank you!
    E.g.

    Hello

The Satellite Pro U400 needs a SATA driver, and you can find it in the Intel Matrix Storage Manager package.

This storage manager can be downloaded from the European driver Toshiba page (see the series of portable different) or you can also download it from the Intel site.

The SATA driver must be installed during XP Setup process. You must press the F6 key to include a 3rd party (SATA driver) from the external USB floppy drive.

If you don t have a floppy drive, then you could create a clean XP CD with SATA driver. NLite freeware software can be useful for these jobs

My advice is; Google a bit for nLite for more details.

    Good bye

    Hello

Normally, you find that the SATA drivers in display driver package which you can download from the official website of Toshiba... Usually they are placed under the screen driver\SBDrv but I downloaded it and t SATA driver file is :(

What you can do is download the driver of another model, perhaps Satellite L300D or similar model.

An alternative you can install Windows XP compatible mode. Go into the BIOS, HDD AHCI mode to the compatible. Then, you don't need a driver.

  • Reference Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid card device driver

Good morning community, I'm trying to find the Dell 2950 Perc 6/i Raid adapter Device Driver for Windows 2008 R2 Standard OS. Thanks in advance for your help. Modem489

You don't need to load a driver for the PERC 6 / i in Server 2008 or newer version, the driver is 'native' for Windows.  If you think that you need a driver, I suspect it is because you tried to install and it is not all discs.  If Yes, do not forget that PERC does NOT support RAID/JBOD, then you must configure disks to a virtual disk (VD, matrix RAID) before they can be presented to the OS.  It can be configured in the CTRL-R utility (be sure to check the boxes of progress/Initialize options too).

  • Can I use Sata of COTS drives in PERC H700 on R810?

Can I use off-the-shelf (non-Dell) SATA drives in a PowerEdge R810 server with PERC H700 of RAID controller?

We currently have equipped Dell SAS disks that will remain in their own virtual disk and want to add storage in bulk as a second virtual disk using less expensive SATA drives.

(We have the latest BIOS & firmware all along)

    Cot = common on shelf?

It depends on. I would recommend against any consumer/desktop/laptop or NAS drives (like the Red of WD). Use enterprise-class SATA if not certified Dell. As long as your firmware H700 is most recent 7/2010 (?), then the non-certified discs will be allowed, but no player not certified is guaranteed to work.
