Not everyone uses these words in the same way, but as far as I'm
concerned, the backup is the Act to protect themselves by making a copy
files you don't want to run the risk of losing. If a system image
is not something different from a backup, it's a kind of backup.

  • Favorites in the dialogues open/Move/save

This week my preview request had lost all of a sudden all of the references and the "Favorites" in the left pane of the dialog box choose the file folder to open it, move or save. Everything appears in iCloud, devices (external drives) and actions. My own machine and all related favorites have disappeared.

When I checked again, these favorites have also disappeared from other applications, such as DC: Acrobat Reader, Microsoft Word, etc. I lost my two special links and the system retains the links (all my files, Documents, photos).

However, the Finder application always displays these successfully. I suspect that they have become 'hidden' by mistake, but it doesn't seem to be a way to find out how to "Unmask" those files...

I am happy to say that all hidden 'Favorites' / lost are back.

I closed and restarted the system – sorry I don't have this basic step before submitting the request.

  • El Capitan 10.11.5 battery drain?

Anyone know the battery drain since the upgrade to OS X 10.11.5? I've just updated yesterday. I probably should have waited a few days to see if any bugs have been reported. But now my MBPr 13 "retina empties faster than before. My guess is that if it's really a problem, then Apple will release a fix for this. But in the meantime, wishing a little I had not updated.

Not such a problem with El Capitan. If you encounter this problem, then it may be because of the update or upgrade on a system that is malfunctioning. My suggestion would be to make a backup of your data first. Then delete the OS X volume and reinstall from scratch:

Install Yosemite or El Capitan, from scratch

Restart the computer. Immediately after that the chime hold down the command and R until the Apple logo appears. When the Utility Menu appears:

    1. Select utility disc in the Menu Utility, then click the continue button.
    2. When loading disk utility, select the volume (entered into withdrawal, usually Macintosh HD) in the list to one side.
    3. Click Delete in the main window of disk utility. A panel will fall.
    4. Define the type of Format Mac OS extended (journaled).
    5. Click on the apply button, then wait for the done button to activate and click on it.
    6. Quit disk utility and re-enter the Utility Menu.
    7. Select reinstall OS X and click on the continue button.

  • Tecra Z40 - A - win 7 blue screen of death (BSoD)

I have 3 times the BSoD on TECRA Z40 - A experience running windows 7 64-bit English last month!

No new hardware has been installed, only the Toshiba and Windows updates carried out official.

I have attached two screenshots from the dump files, files that have probably caused the crash...

BSOD appears due to serious system problems or malfunction of the equipment.

I think first of all you should get the phone to the factory settings.
If this does not help, the parties must be checked.

    I think RAM memory modules.
It is very important and must be checked in the first place.

  • Satellite C850-1NU - BSOD with Page fault in non paged area error

So basically I was looking through the web on my laptop, and then suddenly I got a blue screen of death.
It said Page fault in nonpaged area.

Some people say it means that the RAM could be faulty.
Is this true and if it is faulty should I take it back to PC world where I bought it?

    Thanks ;)

    Hello

The BSOD could be caused by system problems or malfunction of the equipment.

.. and Yes; the BSOD containing the paginated Page Fault in any area error could be related to memory problems, but it could also be a temporal problem that appeared one last time

But if this BSOD will appear in the future for the umpteenth time, I recommend you contact the service partner to verify the material.

  • Keithley UNFINISHED 420 'query' error Max scan for instruments

    Hello!

We have a system for about 9 years. There is a PC with Windows XP and LabView 6.1. In the PC, there is a card GPIB PCI, and via the GPIB cable, 8 Keithley DVMs (including models like 2010, 2400, 2182) connected. A few days ago this old system began to malfunction. There are 4 screws are parallel on this old system - worked fine until now- but none of them are now able to communicate with the Keithley instruments.

I got a virus check, also verified WinXP, checking the memory and so on (we had several BSOD also on the old PC). Because I couldn't trace the problem in the old system, I decided to check into the Keithleys with a new configuration.

I have a new PC with a card GPIB + PCI and LabView 2010. I connected this new PC line above with the Keithley instruments GPIB. (old PC disconnected) When I open MAX and I navigate to the GPIB controller, and I scan for instruments, all DVMs Keithley started a signal sound and displays "error 420" on their screens. And I agree I get in MAX.

So now I have to think that it is a hardware error? Since I have the same problem of communication the DVMs in this new configuration PC...?

A defective digital Voltmeter can make unreliable GPIB communication? I have no idea where to go now...

Moreover, in the case of the controller old PCs, I don't get any visible error, only the screw do not communicate (time error). I think I will also try to use the old system again, I will connect the new PC to GPIB channel and listen in the communication with the GPIB Analyzer functionality.

    Thanks for the tips!

Basic troubleshooting: have you tried simply as an instrument both for the bus connecting? You can also check the cables.

  • Monitor display is not properly in Windows XP sp3

Original title: Windows xp sp3 does not properly

Hello, I do not know if this issue belong to the material division of the forum. I have an old system who have windows xp sp3. It was working fine until week couple but after a few days when I switched it on the screen is not displayed correctly.

All the colors randomly displays as a spot on the screen and the other letters in a sentence is missing. I tried in safe mode with just visible in debug mode, but it doesn't happen in the journal to the screen. I can not even reinstall windows xp. Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    Method 1:

I suggest you to start the computer using the VGA Mode.

    (a) restart the computer

    (b) press F8

    (c) in the start menu

    (d) choose the option

    (e) activate the VGA Mode

This option starts Windows in mode 640 x 480 using the current video driver (not Vga.sys). This mode is useful if the display is configured to a setting that the monitor cannot display.

    Reference:

To start the computer in safe mode

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true

    Method 2:

If you are able to start the computer using the VGA Mode, you can perform a system restore to the date where the computer worked well.

How to restore Windows XP to a previous state

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/306084

If you use system restore when the computer is in safe mode, you can't undo the restore operation. However, you can run System Restore again and choose a different restore point if any. You can also create Safe Mode system restore points. System Restore affects the Windows system files, programs and registry settings that have been changed recently. It can also make changes to scripts, files, batch and other types of executable files on your computer. System Restore does not affect personal files, such as e-mail, documents, or photos, so it cannot help you restore a deleted file.

If the problem persists, you may need to contact the manufacturer of the monitor to the stand.

  • mode off safe mode on Windows 7.

    Split from: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/how-to-disable-safe-mode-booting-in-windows-7/6fbe891f-70b4-4a75-900f-e802a3d74012

Is there a sure way to turn off the mode without boot failure in windows 7? My kids tried to use it to install programs without my permission. I have to find a way to turn it off. I know that this means that I will not have access to safe mode when I need, but I'm fine with that. The worst cases are re - install the entire operating system, and I have periodic return on the system, so I'm going to re - install OS when necessary.

Internet research is inconclusive. Some say it's impossible. Some evoke a commercial which some said work tool while others say does not.

Of course, all accounts on my PC have password.

A point in that way that I'm not too sure will work for sure:
"Administrator" account and activate the password on it, so when it goes into safe mode, it always need password.

I already did, and 'Administrator' account now requires a password in safe boot mode. It's a sure way to impose security on safe mode? Or are there still ways to circumvent security in safe mode?

    Authoritative answer?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi Saleta,

Sorry for the late reply. From your problem description, I understand you have safe mode in your computer. Safe mode is a Windows utility that allows you to use your computer outside of your regular Windows session. Using this option is convenient to edit or remove entries of system or software malfunction, that is usually done when troubleshooting your computer. Your administrative privileges using existing, you can disable a Windows password using the Windows Safe Mode.

You can read the following article and check if it helps.

  • How do you géreriez the rules for creating LDAP user directory/AD/Exchange?

I'm obviously new to IOM and have trouble to know what should be the architecture.

We are provisioning of PeopleSoft users and these users will get the accounts created in several systems (LDAP, AD, Exchange,...) When you talk to the owners of these systems, we have identified certain rules they have should be preserved when moving to LDAP.

For example, if a user of a certain type is created in the IOM we would create 3 LDAP accounts. For users normal only 1. They also require that balance us loads on several messaging LDAP stores. I hope I make sense.

People would usually take these rules and their implementation in IOM? Where, in an adapter? Or would you leave the downstream system retain their rules and write a way to call their script of IOM?

This seems to be a lot of effort, the rewriting of their rules of scripts perl or c# and PowerShell (for Exchange) to Java. Also, we are concerned that any time, they have a rule change that we would be forced to make the change by IOM.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Yes, usually. Adapter can call Java. Java can call a centralized service where there are all the rules, if you want a really architecture fancy

A place to change the rules, a code base. Seems to be an advantage for me.

These two statements are diametrically opposed. You can't do both.
When you format a disk, you delete everything on it.

then I have to format retain data mean my data not format. (do not delete)

Copy (or save) your data on an external before formatting device
    the reader.

Why do you want to format the drive? The vast majority of the time, it's
    a serious error.
