All attempts to install update KB2659262 result in 0x800736cc error code. How is it resolved?

When I had automatic updates on, MS would try repeatedly to make this update.  After many attempts, I never realized that accused had failed in each attempt.  When I disabled automatic updates, I finally saw that these attempts had failed.  I have not yet found a solution.

Excellent! Nice work on your part, too. Welcome & thank you for your comments.

PS: I think one of the security Suites link century of real-time protections may have hurt with the download of the tool to remove the link Symantec (FTP). Out of curiosity, did you end up download from majorgeeks.com removal tool or...?

    Error code updates failed or if you think an update caused a blue screen, give the blue screen error codes.

    Other information to validate:
    Measures already taken to correct the problem and the results of the measures.

    Download and run the Microsoft .NET Framework repair tool , then visit Windows Update and let it try to reinstall updates. Once it's done, scan again with Windows Update to ensure that they properly installed.

    If this does not fix it try this...

    Uninstall the .NET Framework 1.1. Then download the .NET Framework Cleanup Tool
    In the drop-down list box, select 1.1 and clean.
    Reinstall .NET Framework 1.1

    My problem is on an old computer (not this one) running Windows Vista Home Premium.  Show downloads are KB2690729, 2656353, 2656370, 2604111, 2604121, 2656368, 2656045 and 2686827.  When I tried to download individually, the first and the third update (above) showed as being downloaded correctly, yet when I checked the list of updates successfully, none of these appeared.  Since that time, the system generated downloads 8 updates have been fruitless.

    Like the other reviewers, I run IOL System Mechanic and have noted your comments about the interaction between the SM and windows.  Personally, I hesitate to attempt changes to the registry based on the stories of war, with that I've heard of people who do not have the knowledge/experience/skill to work in the more than causing registty problems they started.  I have not contacted LIO, wondering if this was done either by Microsoft with others who have similar problems.

    I hope that you have more tips to share what to do: this problem.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi rob3274,

    I combined the message you did in another thread to this original to avoid confusion.

    In response to another poster asking if System Mechanic caused their code error 641, one of our MVP, PA bear MS MVPreplied with this:

    There is no doubt in my mind that System Mechanic caused this!

    And you have plenty of company, too. See these recent discussions-online

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    OPTION A: If you have backups of ALL System Mechanic has EVER done on your computer changes, restore ALL the & restart and test - and then uninstall System Mechanic & some other registry cleaners. [1]
    OPTION B: Execution of RESOLUTIONS methods 1, 2 and 3 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2642495 then reboot & test.
    OPTION C: Contact System Mechanic (iolo.com) support, assuming you have purchased System Mechanic Professional.
    Change your Windows Update settings to NEVER.  Who will stop it immediately.  Then leave forever to keep it from MS to do what he wants.  You will then take the responsibility to do the Windows updates when they should be done once a month, a few days after the 2nd Tuesday.
    I advise my clients to refuse all updates in the WINDOWS which are not labelled SECURITY.
  • Fresh install of Windows 8 the new SSD and Windows update found 127 updates and they failed with error code 80248007
    1 PC is powerful enough with i7 and 16 GB chip.
    2. new SSD this week.
    2. freshly downloaded Windows 8 Pro ISO burned to a DVD and checked.
    3 Ran install successfully and signed using my Microsoft Account.
    4 tried Windows Store for Windows 8.1, but said I need updates.
    4 Ran Windows Update in Control Panel.
    5. Windows update found 127 updates and they failed with error code 80248007.
    I don't understand how I can get these failures with a new facility.
    Hello
    Glad you got it going... If I had to guess, it was very likely updates .net 3.5, which has caused the problem... or maybe, Net 4.5...
    They require a process runs to complete their installation that seems to start running in the middle of updates remaining to try to install...
    I try to install Smartglass and kepp getting the error 'something has happened and this app could not be installed. Please try again. "Error code: 0 x 80200013.
    How do I solve this problem
    Download ms TELECHARGEMENT
    Try smartglass error try again and error
    There's something weird going?  I finally got my apps install but I have to jump through hoops to do it.
    Try this and see if it works.
    1. Go to the store and select applications to install (with me, they all failed)
    2. Right click near the top of the screen and a menu bar will go down.
    3. Click on "your Apps".  Now, you will see a list of the applications you want to install.
    4. Click the button at the bottom, click the button install.
    5. Quickly, click on the link in the upper right that shows "install...". »
    6. Before installing, click on one (' preference who appeared at the origin of evil ' and click on 'Pause'.)
    7. Now, with a single application pause, check to see if you can now install others.
    For some reason, I can't get installed apps if I have an app paused.  After that the applications installed, I can un-pause that I've paused and install this one.
    I have no idea what's going on here, but has worked for me several times now.
