If all new users, I create will have their user and docs folder on E from the gitgo.

  Under XP, I could just change the 'My Documents' link on each desktop, go to the e. * instead of c *. *, but with win7?

  As a Windows Home Server and most wise OS facilities, the system drive is isolated and a drive of 2 or 3 for everything else.  Get a problem? Just restore the system drive.

  In another forum, I found the instructions to move folders of users to another drive.
  You can follow the post here. This is attributed to Jimmie R. Houts.

  You can move the entire folder C:\Users to another drive quite easily once windows is installed:

  1. Boot from the installation media and access the command prompt (I think you need to click on fix everything first)
  2. Use Robocopy to copy C:\Users to D:\Users: robocopy c:\Users d:\Users /mir /xj
     a. /mir says robocopy to mirror directories, this will copy all files and permissions
     b. /xj is very important, it means robocopy does not follow the points of junction. If you forget this, you will have a lot of trouble.
  3. Make sure that the files copied successfully
  4. Delete c:\Users
  5. Create the junction pointing d:\Users: mklink /d c:\Users d:\Users

  That's all. I used this process for Vista RTM with no problems.

  Here's an article that explains as well. Just use robocopy instead of xcopy as it does in the article in order to avoid possible ntfs permissions problems.

  Update: because I discovered the hard way, I thought I would mention also that if you plan on switching "Program Data", or "Program Files" with this method, you will be disappointed to know that everything works as expected, but the windows updates will install is no longer. I don't know if this problem has been fixed in Win 7.

  With the foregoing, it is not a Microsoft forum or Web site so you will have to use at your own risk. I also recommend to do a system restore point before making any changes in directories that you can then go back to a previous state.

• How to list all the users on the Windows 8 Pro welcome screen

  I work for a small company based in the House of my boss of IT services. Because he runs the company, all the computers in the House are on a domain Active Directory (ease of management and control). Because he runs the company from his home, several of these computers are tablets/touch screens for his children, all upgraded to Windows 8 Pro.

  Currently, the default behavior of Windows 8 at startup is to display the Welcome screen showing the last user who opened a session with an option to switch to another user. If "Other user" is selected, a complete login prompt appears requesting a user name and password. This is standard fair for Windows 8, especially on a domain.
  He wants to do me is to find a way to allow a style of Windows XP (workgroup) Welcome screen displaying all the available avatars with user accounts, allowing so a child to click easily their user account and enter a picture password without ever seeing the on-screen keyboard.
  To rephrase: we want the Windows 8 Pro welcome screen to list all the (or specific, if possible) allowing anyone of you users connect to the computer without entering a user name and only enter a password (or picture password).
  I searched the web carefully and it seems that Microsoft can have deprecated this feature in an update of Windows 7 - many people shouting right lose their old welcome screen after an update. I read in the case of registry (removal of corrupt profiles and .default) hacks, security policy settings (interactive logon: do not display last user name = disabled), account policy (control userpasswords2 > uncheck: users must enter a password...) and a few other suggestions that had mixed results, which none apply to the present case , either because the settings are already in place, or because they are not available due to being on a domain.
  I'm open to exploration of any kind of registry or 3rd party software hacks that can provide this functionality. Win8 default behavior is absolutely horrible for tablets - it should be easy for multiple users to connect to a device without using a screen keyboard to enter their username and password. WIN8 is halfway there with passwords of photo, but we still have to enter a user name for all, but the user recently.

  I thought about a timer trigger that will check every 5 seconds or 10 seconds one value in a table somewhere. But I don't want to use the timer associated with forms of oracle triggers.

  Nothing should be done before you set up the search query. Just follow it,

  -Define the field in the form of your object
  -LookupQuery, Select usr_login, usr_first_name, usr_last_name, usr
  -Options column, the user ID, first name, family name
  -Column Names, usr_login, usr_first_name, usr_last_name
  -The column name search, usr_login
  -Column width 10 100
  Save it.

  I have activated the user 'root '.  It was an attempt (for the sake of granddaughter age) to check its history since I am the administrator.  Realizing that this method was much more complicated than what I am capable of managing, I returned the utility program directory and disabled the user 'root '.  I thought that everything was ok, as I did not made anything while connected as user 'root '.  Instead, restart the computer, all users, including myself were no longer at the start.  The only point was a blank user name and password.  No picture.  No guest.  No user.  How to return those and I did something to cause this?

  Activation and deactivation, then root should not have caused that.

  Also, having allowed root is one of the ways you get a login screen showing only the name and the password.

  You should be able to type in your user name and password to connect.

  One time connected, check users & groups system prefs, Connection Options and make sure he's on the list of users. You will have to click on the padlock at the bottom to make changes.

  We have a MAC that is used by all members of the household. I bought and downloaded a few apps, that the use I need to limit to only myself.  Currently, all purchased apps are visible to and can be viewed by all users of the computer.

  Apps are installed throughout the system, not only on a single user. The only way to prevent other users from seeing / using this apps is to configure the Parental controls that block access to applications.

Activity log report the errors that the device is not ready (see below). What happens on a Virgin installation on a hard drive reformatted with the installation of third-party software. I restored the system to Yosemite and the problem disappeared. Then a second, new installation and problem reports. It still occurs in the OS installer indicating this is an extension of the kernel or driver bug Apple. At the start of external drive and Yosemite from there is no problem so I am confident, that it is not defective hardware

  This problem is specific to all versions of El Capitan.

  Workaround is to use a Magic Trackpad and keyboard USB.

  A creator of this popular software, this should be the most logical part. Given that each authorized user registers with it as well as the id MAC, regularly logs in to windows update, if the same is machine is stolen, even where it is formatted, as and when the new user comes in contact with microsoft for windows update, it should be able to catch the really fast user's ip and report it to the original user.

  I think you are oversimplifying the ability to do what you're talking about.  You buy the right to use the Microsoft operating system - you do not have.  You actually already saved your Microsoft operating system , or simply activated?
