All messages have disappeared from Thunderbird Inbox.

All of my emails have disappeared from Thunderbird Inbox. "Sent" and "Trash" messages are OK. I tried to delete the file "Inbox.msf", as some have suggested, then restarted TB, but the mailbox is still empty. My messages are apparently still in the "Inbox" file (under 'profile'), but all the gobblety-gook with loads of codes and numbers. I copy all of this mess, but don't have a clue how it back in my Inbox and make it readable. Can anyone help?

I don't know why the size has changed... maybe I deleted something?

I tried importing and had nothing but issues (details on my previous answer).

I spent 3 days on this now and I'm tired. I guess I'll try using some email recovery program.

Thanks for the help.

It can be simple or complex.

Simple: Finds | Current view. Is: Check all Messages from show?

Complicated. The Inbox is damaged due to becoming too large.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

With OE closed, rename the Inbox.dbx in Inboxold.dbx. When you open OE, a new Inbox will automatically be created and new mail will happen as planned. Now you will need a tool to retrieve messages from the old Inbox.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • Is it possible to recover hundreds of mails that have disappeared from my Inbox after it has been quarantined today by Norton Internet Security?

I received an infected email this morning which resulted in Norton Internet Security quarantine inbox. All received emails are gone now from the Inbox (with the exception of two who apparently arrived just before the infected message).
    (1) is it possible to recover the E-mails lost without re-infection of the Inbox?
    (2) how can I avoid this happening again? Until today, the infected emails have simply removed by Norton Internet Security on arrival without all the previous messages being lost in the Inbox.
I would be very grateful for help.

you force Nortons of UN-setting in the file quarantine.
Then, you create an exception for Norton analyzes the folders that contain your Thunderbird profile, so it is not repeated.

Be aware that the infection is not as severe as the cure. Maybe you can find someone to Semantec to explain how an email in Thunderbird can infect anything unless you physically open an infected attachment that Norton should catch when it is written in the temp folder before opening.

I lost a lot of time talking to corporate cretins to Semantec and they charge just "this is another line of defense" when asked for more details. Why, because they can simply justify not e-mail Scanner in any other terms. Enjoy it servers little or not by the challenges of usability and convenience.

This "mail" was written on your drive hard until Semantec has managed to make a mess of things. It's a little late don't you think saying "you have an infection. Do they expect also for stuff in your browser to be written on the disc? You bet they do. Where is the preventive surveillance to data transmissions that prevents infection before it is written on your drive?

  • My 'all messages' option disappeared from the p-not sure when. Where can I find it?

Looking for a deleted mail and couldn't find it. A few weeks so I must have deleted automatically. The memories I consulted similar before glancing through all the mail, but this filter is no longer there. Where can I find it?

    Hi shelannie,

I understand that you have deleted an e-mail message and are now trying to get it back.  Was the message from a POP or IMAP account?  Depending on the type of account and preferences that you have set, you may be able to retrieve the message if it is still on your email provider's website.  Your profile says you work with OS X Yosemite.  The resources below will explain how to search mail deleted in the Mail application for this operating system.

If it was an e-mail message that you received, you may have to ask the sender to send?

    Address postal (Yosemite): delete messages

You can delete messages that you have more need to help keep your mailbox manageable and free up space on your Mac or on the mail server. Options e-mail preferences determine whether you can view and retrieve messages once you remove them.

    Delete a message

In the main window of Mail: move the pointer on the header of the message, and then click the Delete button appears. Or select a message in the list, then click Delete in the toolbar of e-mail.

Tip: To avoid the message following selected automatically (and marked as read), hold down the Option key when you delete a message.

In a notification E-mail: move the pointer to the notification, and then click the trash when it appears.

    Delete multiple messages

Select the messages or conversations in the list (hold down the command key when you click each item), and then click the Delete button in the mail toolbar, or press the delete key. If you select a conversation, all messages in the conversation are deleted.

Looking for a set of messages that you want to remove. For example, search for message dated 1 August and 5 September 2014 by entering "date: 8/01/14-9/05/14" in the search field in mail. Or search for messages from a specific person. Select and then delete the messages found.

Remove a mailbox, which deletes all the messages it contains.

    Show deleted messages

How you view deleted messages depends on how you define options in Mail preferences. To check yours, choose Mail > Preferences, click accounts, and then click Mailbox behaviors.

If your settings to move the deleted messages in the Trash: you can view the messages in the trash until they are permanently deleted. To recover a deleted message before it is cleared, drag it to the trash to another mailbox.

If your settings do not move the deleted messages in the Trash: messages can temporarily stay in their original location, but are dimmed or hidden. To show or hide, if they are available, choose View > Show Deleted Messages or view > hide deleted Messages.

    Permanently erase deleted messages

Automatically delete messages: choose Mail > Preferences, click accounts, and then select an account. Behavior of the ball click, and then in the section Trash choose when you want to post to permanently erase deleted messages.

If you have an IMAP account, which the server is configured to delete older messages, they are deleted regardless of your settings.

Manually delete messages at any time: choose the mailbox > erase deleted items, and then select an account.

If you delete by error messages, you can drag them out of the trash to another mailbox. Or select them from the trash, choose Message > move to > [letters].

  • My emails have disappeared from my Inbox of mail

    Hello

I lost almost all my messages in the Inbox of my Apple Mail account. This happened 24 hours is, I must admit, a bit traumatic as the 12000 (roughly) emails date back about 10 years and, as everyone understands, some are important. In fact, I was left with about 50 e-mails or something close. I am completely in the dark; When this happened already my emails were restored quickly without any intervention by me.

My other folders, for example, "sent" and "Drafts" are not affected, just my Inbox.

I use OS X 10.6.6 (I know, it is not supported now) and Mail Version 4.6 (1085). I use a MacBook Pro and an iPhone 6. Messages are not accessible using my Apple Mail app in the dock or using iCloud. Both options have IMAP settings. Also, I have not exceeded the storage allocated on the server. I tried the function 'Rebuild' in the menu dropdown box mailbox but failed.

I am not optimistic, but would appreciate greatly any guidance or advice, you can offer me.

    Kind regards

    Nick

  • Calendar and tasks have disappeared from Thunderbird.

Have you tried to reinstall & update Thunderbird who worked the last time that this product when you use Windows 7 Pro. (now using Windows 10 Pro.) Restarted and stop / restarted the PC nothing works.
Calendar is listed in my training under Mozilla Thunderbird program file.
Windows updated yesterday and completed the beginning until today that may or may not be relevant.
Email Thunderbird works as it always did.

Open the Thunderbird file listed under the "calendar" Watch programs

Don't know what you're talking about. Maybe you can provide a screenshot?
In any case the calendar is in your Thunderbird profile folder, not in the program folder.

Lightning is not installed because I don't want.

Interesting. Lightning * is * the Thunderbird calendar extension.

If you want the calendar then you need to install Lightning, whether you like it or not. You can get it from AMO.

    Hi Hudia,

Thank you for visiting Microsoft Answers.

In order to help you, I would need more information on your side:

    ·         Which version of Windows Vista is installed on your computer?

    ·         Did you install software or updates until this problem occurred?

    Method 1

Try to do a system restore on the computer that will repair return the previous settings.

To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:

    1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

    3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

    4. click on finish.

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

All of my subfolders have disappeared from Thunderbird. The folder is visible is the box. None of my subfolders, sent items, trash etc. are listed beneath it. It's as if the folders pane has been turned off. They are not hidden on the other side of the window either - tried. I have "All folders" checked under view/files-don't know what else to do. If this does not help, check your Recycle Bin, the bak files which are dbx files, you can restore backups.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2
