Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Please answer the question:
What is the full error message with the error code?
It seems that the file on your computer is corrupted, and the default program to open files is set on iTunes.
As a first step of troubleshooting, you can try to uninstall Itunes and check the file associations are defined by default.
To uninstall Itunes, you can follow the steps below:
a. open programs and features by clicking on the Start button, click Control Panel, click on add and remove.
b. Select the Itunes and then click on uninstall.

All my programs and files open with Microsoft Word and I need to know how to change that?
I've seen that happen before when opening a program via a shortcut (for example. LNK file), you are asked what type of program to open it with. After Word selection using the Select a program from a list of programs installedand check always use the selected program to open this type of file, the Word document referenced by the shortcut of origin opens in Word, as it should.
The problem is that now all shortcuts (for example. LNK files) on the desktop or in the browser will want to be opened by Word. This is known as a file association. . The same condition can occur if you have performed these actions on one. JPG or even a. EXE, but the. LNK explanation is much more likely.
This has happened enough that a small utility was written to cancel the. LNK file association was created. There is a registry hack to do this, but I recommend the utility unLNK for its ease of use.
I used to send people on another site to download this utility, but this site has become confused with all the ads and fake download links. I put a copy on by SkyDrive own here.
Just download, then use the utility to unassociate the. LNK files for the user or globally delete the file type and let windows rebuild a new default.

All my programs (especially .exe) open with Acrobat reader.
Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community forums.
I understand that whenever you open an Acrobat application .exe file opens. Let us know if this incorrect. It would help if you could let us know about any changes made to the computer before the show.

I don't know that started it all. I have been using Mozilla Firefox as my #1, favorite and, of course, my favorite on Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Opera browser... That's all just great. In addition, I had used 10 DAP Premium, SpeedBit downloader and converter downloader. Everything to go well for more than a year. Then all of a sudden, sometimes about 2 months ago, I opened my browser, tried to run so that I can go online. And here, I got a message saying: C:\Program Files\Common Files\SpeedBit\SBUpdate\sbfi32.dll is missing. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem. Well I did - probably at least 20 times, but no help, it did not work. Now, I can't open my programs/software even more because the same message keeps popping up. Personally, I think that something must be done to those who wrote the program - if they wanted something malicious [in] the software - I REALLY NEED HELP!
Try to uninstall speedbit from the control panel.
And update firefox to getfirefox.com
Whenever I try to open a program out the media center! Looks like all my programs need to open with this program but the library doesn't recognize any of this so it wont open all...
Can't open anything
I would like to ask you a few questions to help focus in the right direction:
Are there other specific details that you can provide that will help us understand and solve your problem? Since when you receive this error message? Have you made changes to your system?
We can try a few steps and try to solve this problem.
A default program is the program used by Windows when you open a particular type of file, such as a music file, an image, or a Web page. For example, if you have more than one web browser installed on your computer, you can choose one of them to be the default browser.
Open default programs by clicking the Start button, click default programs.
In the default programs, you can:
· Set your default programs. This option allows to choose the programs that Windows uses by default. If you want to use your Media Player to open all media files, use this option.
· If a program does not appear in the list, you can make the default program using set Associations.
· Open default programs by clicking the Start button, click default programs.
· Click associate a file type or Protocol with a program.
· Click on the file type or protocol that you want the program to act as the default.
· Click on the program of change.
· Click the program that you want to use by default for the selected file type, or click the arrow next to other programs to show other programs. (If your program is not listed, click Browse to find the program you want to use, and then click Open. If no other programs are installed that are able to open the type of file or Protocol, your choice will be limited.)
· Click OK.

Some of my programs like windows movie maker won't open but my windows media player opens, so what do I do?
1 how long have you been faced with this problem?
2 don't you make changes on the computer before this problem?
3 What exactly happens when you try to open Windows movie maker? Error message? If yes then after return the exact error message.
Check if the problem persists in the clean boot state.
From your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine if a background program is interfering with your game or program. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot".
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
1. click on start, type msconfig in the search box
2. press ENTER.
The System Configuration Utility dialog box appears.
3. click on the tab general, click Normal Startup - load all services and device drivers and then click OK.
4. When prompted, click on restart to restart the computer.
I just ran the update and now I get errors and none of my programs want to open Microsoft word 2007 bed error example: Microsoft Office Word has stopped working. Windows can find a solution to the problem and try to recover your information. It give an on all the details of the problem. When I asked her to check for a solution online just give me does not.
Use restore the system to a point before the updates. Then, immediately after the restart, go to control panel - configuration
Windows updates - left upper parameters and set updates download but you can install them. This will allow you
to solve the problems to see the update is causing the problem. For all THE updates driver, right-click on and HIDE and in
does disable the driver updates entirely (why and how below).
You can use normal windows, Safe Mode (repeatedly press F8 as you start) or boot from a disk of Vista.

Start the restore of the system from a command prompt
Most of this is just for future reference even if you need to update driver however check the last two
paragraphs on why and how to stop the automatic driver updates.
This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:
This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:
-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system. For
each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver, description,.
version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - Device Manager - Display Adapter - note the brand and complete model of your
video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now click on UPdate Driver (this
cannot do anything as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.
Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with their
own the software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.
Now go to the site of the manufacturer of system (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) (restoration) and then of the manufacturer of the device
(Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and software)
updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)
Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after each installation.
Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up. This
because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so install a
pilot - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat if necessary.
Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW on device at the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER - manually check by model.
Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.
How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver in the Windows updates,
This leaves ONE of Windows updates, but it will not install the drivers who are generally older and cause
questions. If updates offers a new driver and then hide it (right click on it) and then go look for new ones
manually if you wish.

I'm at home on my pc, win 7 x 64, hooked to a lynksys router. There is one other wired PC which is in fact a Media Player (using VLC and basic file sharing) in the living room and a laptop Wireless used a few hours a day, several days a week. All 3 have the MSE and Zone Alarm.
Can someone please explain to me why almost all the programs I run wants to connect to my router and all these multicast IP addresses?
I mean each program. Not the 1st time I run them. Later, at random times when I opened them, they try to access these ip addresses.
As someone that is marked as the answer, I'll answer and I hope not met too rude.
Houla, the simplicity of your answer tells me your not aware of what has already been discussed at this stage.
This is all irrelevant now anyway, given that the hard drive has been wiped, all likely to be involved possible malware disappeared.
As I mentioned, the dialog box appears after every restart. It occurs after I entered my credentials to logon and proceeded to windows. It seems to be pretty late in the boot process that things like the chat programs and widgets are fully charged at the time wherever the dialog box is displayed.
The dialog box appears to be the 'Open with' dialog box in Windows 7 standard.
Specifically the dialogue reads as follows:

I solved the problem.
I found that when creating a new user, no longer had the open with dialog box.
I started the process of resolution of a corrupted user profile (which seems little more than creating a new and copy and paste a few old values), when I decided to try one last thing.
I logged on my account corrupted again and when the 'Open with' dialog that I open the file with Notepad. I tried to "save under" to locate the file and found that it was located in C:\Users. Something in recent weeks seems to have put a file without an extension, called "Mathew" (my log in name) in this folder, and it began when I started windows.
I have since deleted the file and am no longer get the "Open with" dialog

When I opened iTunes App Store link, Firefox wants to automatically open iTunes. In Options > Applications, I found the itms and itmss content types, which causes this behavior. I can change "always ask them", but when I do, I get a automatic every time I open the link asking me to choose between "iTunes" or "Choosing an Application." To avoid future pop ups, I check "Remember my choice for itmss links" but only after selecting iTunes or another application. There should be a third option there for 'doing nothing '. Is it possible to tell Firefox to ignore completely the content of the itms/itmss?

Is there some prefs the protocol handler if you are looking for the topic: config page?
- Network.protocol - handler.
You just solved my problem - there is no Network.protocol - handler.external. itms or itmss prefs, so I added the Boolean values:
Network.protocol - handler.external.itms
Network.protocol - handler.external.itmss
Set to false and voila! No iTunes, don't ask me what program to use.

I was working on my computer when all of a sudden, I was asked what I wanted to use to open a program. I chose 'Windows Media Center', and suddenly most of my desktop icons changed to icons in Media Center. Now, anytime I want to open a program like a web browser or game, it redirects me to Windows Media Center. Is it possible to reset these programs so that it does not happen? I'm not very good with computers, so a method of dumbed-down would really help.
See if a restore of the system before the problem will fix it:
"Using Windows 7 or Vista System Restore."
And this should help you inf above does not solve it:

Run the Mr.Fixit here or you can use the manual method it y to correct yourself
And also, read the information please (Vista and Windows 7 are similar).

Windows Mail wants to open all attachments with Word rather than Word, Adobe, pad etc. How can I get the attachments to open properly?
- Click the "Start" menu in the bottom left of Windows. Then select "Default programs".
- Click on the option "Associate any type of file or Protocol with a program."
- Select the file type you want to change the types of files listed. For example, if you want the text (.txt) file to open it in Microsoft Word instead of WordPad, choose '.txt '.
- Click on the "Change Program" button in the upper right window.
- In the list of programs, select "Microsoft Word". If Microsoft Word does not appear in the list, click on the button 'Browse' in the bottom right and choose Microsoft Word on your computer.
- Click on the button 'OK' and then 'close '. The next time you open this type of file, it will open it in Microsoft Word. Repeat this procedure for any other type of file you want to open in Word.

My office was attacked by malware. I have run virus scan and all updates that were available. When the operating system starts, a window opens asking me to "choose the program you want to open this file: file: rundll32.exe.". There are recommended programs and other programs, but I'm fairly certain that none of them are correct. Can anyone help direct me in the right direction to solving this problem? Every program I try to open, translates into an opening by asking the same question, but the file name changes to whatever program I am trying to the window. Thanks in advance for any help.
