All programs opens in Notepad in the code

All my programs have begun to open in Notepad, after that I tried to start a game, Football Manager 2010. They all appear in the code and I can't open the vast majority of the programs at all, the only program that I am currently able to open's iTunes after I type in the search bar.

Hello

Basically, you need to restore default file Associations.

When you double-click a. EXE file, the program may not start, instead, it can open in Notepad
(view the contents of .exe), or you can jump into any other application.

Incidentally (and this is not a complaint) by clicking on desktop icons now open full-screen windows, which suits me very well, but when I hit the screen button "reduced" on a window then all windows to open in reduced format, but ALL are EVEN smaller.  I'll play a little more but thanks again. • Where can I find Notepad in Win7? I went over all programs, accessories,... but the notebook isn't here! THX!

I would like to send documents to the friends and family who do not run Win7 or Word.  I thought maybe I could use Notepad (at least for those running Microsoft).  But I can't find the Notepad in the accessories list.  Any thoughts?

This is where it should be. Type Notepad in the search bar in the start menu, and then drag the result on the desktop a temporary shortcut.

You also have WordPad in the same place that you could use.

    And another option.

  • All programs list - moved shortcut on the desktop, but want to add back to the list of all programs

I moved a shortcut from the list of all programs on the desktop.  I would like to keep the shortcut on the desktop, but also restore on all programs.  How can I do this?  I tried drag-and-drop and Windows Explorer without success.  Topic is not found in help.  Windows XP Professional SP3.

the visual office includes folders and you can copy the shortcut via Solution Explorer.

simply right-click on the Start button and select open.

Explorer opens on the behalf of users.

If you look closely, you will see a folder called desktop.

    find the shortcut, then copy.

Find the folder of programs all then drill down to the subfolder you want and paste the shortcut in him.

You can also use the above method to organize your desktop.

Incidentally, do not play with the admin folder or all users.

  • All programs open to Windows Media Player!

Tried to download recordings of the Zoom recorder via USB.  Songs downloaded from my music library, but now I can't open the file.  Repetitions of Windows Media Player "problem when downloading" message.  Windows Media Player icon is present on ALL programs.  I can't open any program as they are all "locked" in Windows Media Player.  Help!

    Hi Richard,

If you can access the internet somehow, if you are using Vista, go to http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/22/reset-and-fix-broken-windows-vista-file-ext-and-type-associations-include-exe-com-sys-zip-lnk-folder-drive/ and scroll to the EXE and click or double-click it to run the program to restore EXE file associations. Once done, do the same for LNK entry. That should restore your programs. If you are using Windows 7, go to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html . If you are using XP, go to http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm.

If you are unable to access the internet, download files to a flash drive on a good PC, load the files on the bad PC desktop and run them.  Then restart.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Kosh

  • All program files and shortcuts from the "Start" menu disappeared

I use Windows Vista Home Premium (SP2) (64-bit).  Two days back, I've updated my windows.  After restarting the PC, all program files and shortcuts in Start menu disappeared.  The shortcuts that I myself had added manually do not work.

Have you tried to do the restore of the system in SafeMode as stated in my answer 1 to you?

    If it doesn't/does not work:

If you do not want to repost in the Windows Update Forum (they are the specialists it for the best advice regarding your problem), make this disc Bootable startup repair and use it to do a system restore or uninstall the updates by using the method 2nd in my 1st reply:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.

NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.

Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:

    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html

It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.

You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.

It is NOT a disc of resettlement.

And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
