Allocation of master pages to the pages of body containing paragraph tags

Background:

  • I am not using structured FrameMaker v8.0
  • We currently have a paragraph tag called NotesPage and a reference page called Notes. The NotesPage paragraph tag specifies the Notes in the field below the FMP on the tab advanced in paragraph Designer. When you use the NotesPage paragraph tag, it inserts an entire page with lines at the bottom of the page.
  • There are cases in very large files, when to use the tag of paragraph NotesPage to insert this page in the document.
  • The page will always serve on a left page.
  • If we add information in the file, the page of notes can be pushed to a right-hand page. Therefore, this requires manual interventions in files that are quite large.

Possible solution:

  • I'm working with the MasterPageMaps reference page.
  • I created an empty master page named NotesPage.
  • On the MasterPageMap, I did:

Paragraph tag name

Right hand Master Page (or master Front Page)

Left Master Page

Indicator of rank (single, on the pages up to this amended)

Comments

NotesPage

Right

NotesPage

Unique

  • What I want to do is the ability to insert a paragraph NotesPage tag after each section. If the NotesPage tag falls on a page of lefty, lined notes page. If the NotesPage tag falls on a right page, then my normal right named master page is used.
  • Unfortunately, this does not work for me. The paragraph tag always seems to prevail over the command apply Master Pages. I have the page of notes lined almost anything.
  • I tried to put the lines of notes, on the master page of NotesPage, but of course, it just seems like background text and my next page to a text value displayed on the lines.

Any help is appreciated. This would save hours at the time of production.  Thank you!

If the page layout that you want for the pages of Notes is on the master page named NotesPage, then you have probably set to the NotesPage paratag. There's just an empty paragraph of placeholder, - without having to access anything whatsoever from a page of reference...

    Hi guys,.

I'm pretty new in the indesign program and try to familiarize yourself with it!

I create a new catalog for the company that I work.

I created a master page, which is the basic layout of our catalog and at the bottom, I have a text field with our email address.

The e-mail address appears on the "spreads" when I'm working on it, but after have exported them (high quality printing), the text does not appear on the PDF file?

The text field with the e-mail address is certainly in the margins of the page (as appear in other fields of text on the same latitude).

    Can anyone help?

    See you soon

Make sure that all items located under the text do not go above the middle of the page.

    For example,.

If you have a background graphic frame under the text, make sure that the frame under the text responds exactly to the center of the spread and does not stretch on the next page.

According to me, this is why it's happening. You have multiple master pages?

  • FrameMaker10 - Windows 7 - How to get the background color of a paragraph tag?

    2-27-2013 1-38-39 PM.png

I'm trying to create my heading1 with a background like the picture above.

I put the blue background on a master page, but the chassis will in the background blue and later blue background does not show through.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    Cindy

    Cindy,

You must create a specific master page for the opening/first chapter page that contains two connected text frames. The most senior executive would have the blue background and be served for the title. The following text block would get the text and have two columns.

  • Beast Master Page question

Although I've been using Framemaker since 1992 (Unix) and progressed to fly from unix to windows, macintosh and return to windows.  I currently use Framemaker 9 on Windows XP and I still feel like a newbie sometimes. The question was which is rampant in me for years and some I think that the answer might be accomany a Duh answer? quickly followed by a head slap

Is it possible to include pages in true landscape mode in a single framework document?  By true landscape I do not mean a block of text rotated on a portrait page. To create a book my perceived solution (two diferent framemaker files {a landscape and a portrait]) may be confused when creating a 100 page document where 25 or more are pages in landscape mode and generally they are not consecutive. One of my latest projects required a book with 52 individual photos. (In Word (sorry for the curse on the forum), the project has a single file.)

Any help would be appreciated and I promise no Homer SImpsom response will be provided

Look in the help file online something like "assignment of master pages to the pages of body containing paragraph tags.

    But the basics are:

    1. Create a master page to landscape.
    2. Create a single paragraph tag you will use to call the master page. Generally, this should be some position, but can be anything.
    3. Map the tag of paragraph to the master page by using the Mapping Table in the reference of the document page.

I found, in general, it works very well for situations where you really don't have a landscape between the portrait pages page. It becomes clumsy fairly quickly if you need to put in place a series of pages in landscape mode. If you need to do this, I set up a separate document to landscape and then import it into the parent file as an insert text - make sure to preserve the landscape on the importation of setting preferences sheet shaped. Or go to the other approach, you mentioned - page groups of each type, implemented as component files in a book, set up to resemble a single chapter.

  • Master Pages to control the body of text Styles?

I think that I must not understand Master Pages.

I want to create a set of blocks of text on each page in my book. I'd like the images to be the same on each page, with the same font, justification, size, etc. for each frame (and I'm not put on blocks of text from one page to the other).

If I try to use Master Pages to put all in place and then you change the master page by pasting the different text on each page, I lose the ability to change the fonts, the sizes of fonts, etc. on all pages at once. Since I replaced the captain for this block of text, change the mask is no longer affects this text.

Should I use another way to set the font, font size, the justification, the etc in frames on all pages at once? (I join resize or move these blocks of text on all pages at once, too, but just pasting text into a substituted master framework seems to let me to modify the framework itself.)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for any help.

What you describe is paragraph Styles: font, size, justification, etc. When you use a paragraph style say body text and want to make a global change, just change the assigned to body text paragraph style. Can you give an example of the "set of blocks of text on each page. Also if you can tell us what version of ID you use, Mac/Windows?

  • Is it mandatory to create/use the master page or its up to me (developer)?

    Hello

I develop a form (non-interactive), where in I'm placing a lot of tables (with the approach of the subforms), and these tables is dynamic, I mean, the tables are feeding an backend ERP SAP, where of lines are dynamic (but number of columns are fixed)

That is why I want to put FLOWED subforms, pages, bcz I have tables on the 1st page 2nd page.

BCZ I want to mY_cmpany_logo on each and every single page, in any case only 2 pages

Pls suggest me in this case (above said scenario), is a mandatory rule to create / use a master page

    Thank you

XFA forms (static or dynamic) always have at least one master page, because it contains the content (s).

Master pages are used as "wallpapers", as they are good for the items that you need to repeat on each page of the form. Think of header or footer or simly a company logo.

Anyway, you can't place anything on a master page, if you do not want.

  • Master pages - header different for chapters

Hello, I am fairly new to Indesign, and I use a template for a book which included put Master Pages implemented with background numbers headers and two superiors.

The left hand one I use for my name of the author and the right, I started to use for the title of the book.

I want to give up the title and replace it with the name of the current chapter, which there are thirty-five chapters.

It seems that I could do this by adding to each separate chapter name as a variable? Or can I create multiple master pages?

Can someone give me the basics as to how I would like to address the issue?

With variables, can I highlight all the pages of the chapter and change the variable for the pages without having to do it page by page?

in any case, and help would be appreciated. As mentioned, this is my first project in this sense.

You need just a field of variable on the master page, based on a paragraph style that you will use only for chapter titles. You can place the title in a box right next to the page, but lost in the background on the first page of your chapter.  Given the title of chapter one time over the first page of the section (as long as he is in contact with the bleed), carries this title the following pages until another instance of this paragraph style is found.

  • Update of master pages and formats in several dynamic projects

I'm a student just starting to learn FrameMaker, so I apologize if this is an inappropriate question. While I was do pretty well with the program and completed a few fairly important projects, I have not really seen how FrameMaker is used in major projects in the industry. So I tried to think about questions that may arise. One that occurs to me is the scenario where a number of computer manuals for a family of products is developed. They all need to be formatted in the same way. Of course, you start by developing a model with master pages and then start each manual based on this model. But then what happens if we discover that for some reason any, that we have to change a graphic on master pages (or something on the pages of reference, a paragraph tag or a variable)? On the import of these things in another file, it is a possibility. But all those working on the project have to do it manually for each file in every book? Or y at - it a way to get these things put updated dynamically across multiple files?

Or I'm misunderstading how such a project, and so this is a false problem in practice.

    Thanks for any clarification.

    Import formats is very flexible.

Brief description of van of synchronization of formats across two or more files by importing them from a master file is excellent. However, it highlights one of the problems with the feature import Formats: it can import that categories of full format - all the variables, the paragraph formats, etc. To selectively import only a part of a category of format, savve a copy of the main template under a new name, then delete everything unwanted in each category of format, save the file, and then use this model custom as the source for the file > import > Formats.

Google search for terms such as "suppression of the FrameMaker formats", without the quotes, for more details.

You can also use a custom master file to create new formats and import them into your main template file, or you can keep this custom template independent of the general model and the new formats for import it.

    Kind regards

  • How to apply master pages across sections or whole

This is a very basic problem that I'm not easily find the answer in the research. I have to apply master pages and consistently, no matter how, I format the query, am advised: "one or more of the specified pages aren't valid page names." So please give an example of how the page/section names are supposed to be written for:

    A book of 100 pages with article 1;

    A book of 100 pages with article 2;

Application of the changes to the master page to only one paragraph of the book (pages 50-75).

I know this is similar to "Sec1: 1-100 ', but not exactly the same thing.

OK, I think I begin to understand what you are doing. You try to use the menu of the Pages Palette to apply a Master Page to a range? You must include the section number for two pages, like this: Sec1:1 - Sec1:100.

You can also select the pages in the range first, then use the command master apply. It's perhaps easier.

  • Lose the Master Page assignments after import layout

I have a book with about 40 chapters, and I'm trying to change the page layout.  I update the master pages in Chapter 1 and then use the import formats to import master pages in the other chapters.

However, when I go in the other chapters, the first pages lose their 'first' assignment page and just came with a normal allocation of L/R.

If I Master Page use manually and change the first "chapter" page it works OK, but who will become a bit tedious for those chapters.

Is it possible to keep the existing master page to use assignments when importing to page layout?

    Thank you!

    John

Ah, interesting.  Of course, during the test of this morning, he had not this problem.

But your message prompted me to finally understand that cryptic MasterPageMaps and so I made a chart like this, which seems to do the trick:

Titrechapitre First Unique Titrechapitre page as the first master page

Thanks as always for your quick and helpful answer!

    Hello Edi,

This normally happens when you add any code iframe in Muse design.

If you are using any 3rd party code that creates an iframe then you will have to style code iframe.

However if it is a page by default to Muse without 3rd party widget or iframe code, I will propose you to publish the file and let us know the direct link here so that we can look at the site codes.

  • How to identify the master page of replacement

I think that this forum must be broken. Surely questions have been over the years who use the term "ignore".

    Hi Nancy:

I know! We must put our detective hat and grab our magnifying glasses to understand. You can put it on a list of gifts here: host.

From my experience, once removed, always removed. Are back you (or someone in your office) do anything to add in without knowing it? For example, by selecting the single page framework model and makes it a little more time to accommodate an additional line? If the framework model is just a fraction of a different point in the frame of the page master, it generates the message.
