Allocation of vSphere with a host operations management licenses
Hi all
How in the world I assign VMware vSphere with standard 5.5 license management operations to a host? The implementation has been green field, so we bought the acceleration for vCenter server kit that comes with 6 licenses vSphere with the direction of the operation. I've got Ops Manager works well and himself is allowed and can see all hosts. We also bought 12 additional licenses for 18 in total, and I can see the other 12 and assign them to hosts, but can not see the original 6. I never could.
Any help appreciated.
André
Finally, I called support license and solved it. I had to downgrade 6 Operations Manager vCenter licenses in order to see them. My hosts are all on ESX 5.1. The downgrade is made of my.vmware.com--> license keys--> I want to: Downgrade from licenses. He worked as expected after that.

Configure a cluster of vsphere with 2 host with internal storage shared via HP LeftHand - doubts
Hi, I'm trying to create a two-node esxi cluster. These nodes will share their internal storage with HP Lefthand Appliance (HP StoreVirtual VSA). I need the first steps to create the cluster, or better, the macro blocks, IE:
-install esxi on each node
-install Virtual Center and create the vmware cluster-Deploy the VM VSA...
I have a lot of doubts because of the reason why I can't have (installation of the HP guide said) virtual machines on other than the VM VSA itself VSA data store. How can I configure things? Creating first two warehouses of data, deploy VCenter on a data store, create the cluster, deploy VSA VM on the other data store...
Can you help me please?
DL380G5 host as the location for the ODM is ok, but you may need to upgrade the host in any case since v12 FOM requires ESXi 5.0 or newer.
... what happens if the update fails and the hypervisor does not start more?
I know we can't answer a question with a question. Anyway, how do save you virtual machines on this host now?
It is true that the VSA VM cannot be migrated, but I can migrate the VCenter to a to another data store when I will have created the DATA of VSA data store (one that the hypervisor consider as an iSCSI target), I'm good?
I'm sure that it is correct. Unless I'm missing something, vCenter Server is just another virtual machine running on the cluster VSA VSA does not require vCenter Server to run.

How does the vSphere with external Fax and USB license keys?
I intend P2Vng a couple of servers, but one of them has an external modem for faxing. Another server has a USB key.
It will cause problems? Will it be possible to virtualize these?
Hello
VSphere 4.1 supports the USB transfer I think still that a USB to the device of the IP works better that thereby you do not pin a virtual computer to a given host. HA, DRS, FT still works.

Failed to create dashboard customized by vRealize Operation manager
Hi all
I just deployed a cluster of vRealize (v.6.0.2) Operations Manager and I am able to deploy solutions/manage roles inside. However, when I want to create the custom dashboard, I found that there is no such option for me.
I connect the administrator account created during the installation, which is supposed to have every permission.
No suspicion on which permission/configuration I may have missed to create dashboard?
Thank you
Silvester
Looks like you are using a key of vSOM. I see it's enterprise edition, which entitles you to vSphere Enterprise, but all versions of vSOM give access to only the Operations Manager Standard edition features vRealize.
The link below mentions "capabilities are equivalent to the vRealize Operations Manager Standard edition"

VSphere Essentials Plus upgrade to vSphere with operations management standard
Hello
We currently have vSphere Essentials more running on 3 hosts, and we want to upgrade to vSphere with the Standard edition of management operations (with vCenter Server) using the kit of acceleration.
Please confirm if it takes to change the key of any upgrade of software or installation or license only it will take?
Waiting for the answer. Thank you
Sound just change of license keys. Binaries are all of same for all versions, just the keys toggle features.

Operations Manager integration with vSphere Web Client
Hello
One of the new features that I keep seeing credited for vCenter Operations Manager v5.6 is 'integration with vSphere Web Client'.
I went through the process of getting vCOps operational v5.6 (and everything works fine), but I don't see any integration with the Web Client. Am I missing something obvious? Where is the integration? I have to do something to activate it?
See you soon,.
David
Take a look at the video on Eric Sloof vCOPS 5.6 integration with VMware vSphere Client Web blog post where he explains how to use the vCenter integration of Operations Manager with the Web Client vSphere.

Hello
We have a new environment vROps 6.1. Everything works like a charm, except when I get the Web Client vSphere. Hosts and Clusters - monitor - health, I try to click on the "see details in vCenter Operations Manager" and I get sent to the IP address to one of the nodes in the cluster vROps. This translates into a certificate error. We have signed all the certificates for the solution of vROps, but that doesn't help us when the link refers to one IP address. Any way to change the behavior of the link to go instead of the full domain name?
Thanks in advance for your comments.

Yes, here is a code snippet PowerCLI to do:
to connect-viserver
$extMgr = get-view ExtensionManager
$vRops = $extMgr.ExtensionList |? {$_.key - eq "com.vmware.vcops"}
$vRops.Server [0]. URL = "https://vrops-fqdn/vcops-ngc.zip".
$ExtExtendedProductInfo = new-Object VMware.Vim.ExtExtendedProductInfo
$ExtSolutionManagerInfo = new-Object VMware.Vim.ExtSolutionManagerInfo
$vRops.ExtendedProductInfo = $ExtExtendedProductInfo
$vRops.SolutionManagerInfo = $ExtSolutionManagerInfo
$extMgr.UpdateExtension ($vRops)

vRealize Operations Manager vSphere Client Web plugin does not work!
Hi guys, I'm updating my environment Operations Manager vRealize and after that, I do not see the Web Client vSphere health status information. I followed the Migration to vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 Tutorial available in VMware Youtube channel and after change my TIME on the new server vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 Operations Manager 5.8 vCenter vCenter Operations Manager always direct plugin to my old Operations Manager vCenter VAPP environment.
Error message:
Unable to connect to the server vCenter operations. Check your network connection and the execution state of the virtual machines in the vCenter Operations Manager VAPP.
Anyone know how to change the vCenter Operations Manager plugin to my new environment?
Look at the screenshots to understand my problem.
Thank you buddy. In fact, I had to do to solve the problem, but I removed the previous configuration before. I had to open https://
/mob, locate the old configuration of Operations Manager 5.8 vCenter in content, ExtensionManager and UnregisterExtesion "com.vmware.vcops". After that, I did the same way as you have said and done! Thanks for your help. -
Operations Manager Foundation on vSphere Standard Cluster?
Hello
my client purchased the acceleration Standard Kit. The period of testing and migration, we used the 60 day trial license and activated the Drs During that time, we installed the Foundation included in operations manager.
Now, I want license systems. Before that, I got disabling DRS and to do that I have to remove the VAPP Operations Manager.
I'll be able to add the VAPP later without DRS? If this is not the case, how am I supposed to run Operations Manager in an environment of 'Standard '?
Thanks for your help.
Christian
You can not not run vCenter Operation Manager in a cluster without DRS because it's a paralytic. You're choices are active DRS cluster or run on a host not in the cluster, but can still be managed through vCenter.

vCenter Operations Manager doesn't show any new virtual machines added
Hi all
I have a 5.5U2 of vSphere environment coupled with Operations Manager 5.8.4 vCenter in this environment, I have a strange behavior as new created virtual machines are not directly shown in the tree view of the infrastructure. Sometimes they raise within the hour, sometimes, others may need several days to appear.
If I want an immediate reflection of VMS in vCenter, I have the best "Workaround", I tried to restart the services Operations Manager vCenter virtual machine of the user interface.
All components are registered in DNS names, I checked that all entries are correct, that is the case. And they can be solved.
Operations Manager vCenter is secured by a member of MS internal CA of an Active Directory domain.
After "googleing"I've seen a similar question on hosts that are not visible, but not the VMs."
Some of you have already experienced this kind of questions?
Thanks for your comments,
Michael
As reported by the VMware support, it's normal behavior with this version of vCOPS. Switch to the 6.x version to solve the problem.

Operations Manager vCenter don't watch do not work load Matrix on 1 of the 3 ESXi servers
Hello
I need help troubleshooting. This last weekend, we have improved our main router of L3, which caused a tizzy with networks (duhh!) After the task was completed, operations Manager (5.7.1) stopped making account CPU on one of the three hosts ESXi (5.1.0, 799733). vSphere sees all data (CPU, Mem, network) of the ESX host and DRS works. I have logs of the hosts on the migration server. So, how do Ops Manager report correctly for this server?Thank you
Brian...
See #1 in my recommendation... vSphere could bring their stats, but you should check vCenter to see if vCenter is bringing.

No vCenter info Operations Manager extension for "vCOPS IP" was taken to a vCenter Server.
.
Hi all
Has had a call with VMware Support and the development of consumption measuring team. This is a bug in version 3.4, and there is a solution for this.
The workaround is to use the user SSO ([email protected]) to connect to vCenter Server to the extent of consumption.

Help to configure content vRealize Pack of Operations Manager for paper Insight
I am running the following:
vrops Version 6.0.1.2523163
Log insight Version 2.5.0 - 2629935
I installed the v1.0 vROps 6.x content pack in Insight Journal and used this article very useful when configuring the liagent.ini file
vRealize content Operations Manager Pack for newspaper Insight - VMware Blogs
Everything seemed to go well, but the end result is no data of vrops Li and connection errors in the newspapers of the agent without clear indication of why it is not agent connection.
Viewing the log file, I see a lot of counters indicating the date, the agent of time shows that he has worked for a few days now with more 8 million observed events.
However, interrupted events number matches the 8 million observed number of events which means that everything has been ignored "due to the overflow of local storage or rejected by the server" as stated in the article.

Host name (FQDN full): vrops.domain.local

Two things, I thought maybe to blame that I don't know how to fix:
- vmw_vr_ops_hostname = IP address? same as address of node? My cluster shows the node address as the IP address rather than a FULL domain name. I tried to provide as well in the ini file, but doesn't seem to help, but I find it weird that I don't see the name domain FULL configuration section that I linked to suggested that I should. And what is listed here would be that I filled in the ini file to vmw_vr_ops_hostname file?
- In vrops, under Administration > Support > newspapers > change the Logger Configuration > export to Syslog, no matter how many times I uncheck the box 'exit of syslog server logs' external and click ok the box remains checked off the coast. I'm sure that this must be unchecked, but even if it were problems, as I understand it, it would be especially causing duplicate rather logs that prevent all newspapers to appear as is my case.
According to this article it is said: "If export syslog is configured then the required configuration of the specific agent is not set and the syslog Protocol is used instead of the cfapi." It is also very important to note that configurations can and will be replaced! By example, if you configure the agent works with the content pack (for example. liagent.ini) client-side and later someone configure syslog export from the user interface, the configuration of the client-side agent are crushed with the parameters of the interface user break the integration of content package. »
vRealize content Operations Manager Pack for newspaper Insight - SFlanders.net
Given that syslog export was apparently when I first tried to set this up, it would make sense that this is what causes problems, but how could I then set? Especially when the user interface won't let not disable me export syslog on vrops?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you
Very useful - I think that the problem is with the [server] section if your configuration. What is the host name = value? It can be solved? The reconnecting log messages are expected that the delayed connection makes it sound like the configuration of the host name does not.

Hello
We have a license for VMware vSphere 6 with operations management Enterprise Plus for 1 processor
Can explain everything about the use of these products and differentiate? Also, do I need to buy VMware vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 license to use this VSOM?
vSphere with operations management Enterprise Plus 1 processor 6 includes 1 processor for vSphere Enterprise 6, Plus and one license for vRealize Operations Manager Standard. You don't need to purchase vRealize Operations Manager 6.0 to use vSOM, as it is included.
