Allow domain Standard users to install fonts

Hello

Several Standard domain users who are designers of Grphic often obliged to install fonts. I wish to white list the program which actually installs the police using the Microsoft application compatibility tool. To this effect, I need to know what program actually installs the fonts so I can add this program to the whitelist of the UAC.

Anyone know what program it is?

Best regards

Reggy

  • Allow a standard user to install software designated as updates of Adobe reader with group policy

    Hello

I have the users configured as standard users to prevent them from installing unapproved software.

This causes problems with products such as java and adobe reader running automatic updates.  We then get cranky users because they are prompted to install the update and approval from the administrator.

Is it possible with group policy to allow pre-approved software to install as update of adobe reader?

I have a program that will run only on admin or with the approval of the admin. I want him to be executed on all users computers with standard users. How can I do this?

That has never been answered so for those looking for an answer...
Log in as an administrator and disable UAC
-> Panel-> accounts user and family safety-> user accounts modify the user account control--> then just slide down never notify.

This will allow a standard user to access admin and admin stop programs confirm the open each time

I don't think it's possible. You will need to give its administrator privileges, even temporarily, or go with it at each location and add them to it.

I wand to greater access to a standard user to enable or disable devices in Device Manager also start stop service permission.

You must do this through an agent as follows: create a scheduled task that is running under the account system once every five minutes. If the task detects a semaphore file (which is created by the standard user), and then it run devcon.exe (to toggle a device) or sc.exe (to start/stop a service). To do this successfully requires skills in scripting.

    Hello RonMahaffey,

Thank you for posting.  As the system administrator, you can turn on or off or even removed certain settings by using Group Policy. Group Policy is a feature of Windows that lets system administrators manage users ' access to features Windows.

    Group Policy Management Console

(GPMC) Group Policy Management Console snap-in provides a unique user interface that allows you to manage group within the company's strategy. GPMC consists of a component Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in and a set of scriptable interfaces for managing group policy.

You can find the GPMC snap-in in the following location: %windir%\System32\gpedit.msc

To open MMC with elevated privileges, click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right-click Guest, and then point to run as administrator. If Windows displays a security message asking your permission to run this program, click on allow. In the command prompt that opens, type mmc.exe to start the MMC. In the MMC console tree, click file, click Add/Remove a snap-in, and then select Group Policy Object Editor and group policy management and click Add.

  • How do I allow users without administrator privileges install fonts?

I need allow users to install fonts without administrator privileges.  Googling landed a few eccentric tools, but this isn't an option... I can change the entries in registry, file & directory permissions, use Windows commands in batch scripts, etc. but I can not use any third-party downloads.  In addition, just save them to the police for the session cache is not enough... they should be able to install fonts in C:\Windows\Fonts directory.  It's OK, if they can not uninstall a font, allowing that could remove a font that Windows requires.

  • allowing standard users to software update

I recently changed my settings of the computer to have a separate administrator account and my usual account has been changed to the standard, but now I can't update all software (Adobe, Java, etc.) as a standard user.  Is - this here in any way that I can allow a standard user be allowed to do?  I know that having an admin account is to protect against unofficial downloads etc but this becomes a real pain in the neck, and I'm very tempted to return users standards admins.

I know that having an admin account is to protect against unofficial downloads etc but this becomes a real pain in the neck, and I'm very tempted to return users standards admins.

In Windows 7, the standard accounts are not allowed to install the software. Since UAC prevents the installation of unauthorized software, you could safely restore administrator privileges on your account every day.

  • that allows standard users change ppp settings, removing UAC admin fast pwd to DPIscaling.exe

I am currently using windows vista ultimate 64-bit with an installed nvidia geforce 8800 gtx card. I'm the ADM on the machine, with the standards users who connect it. My account of adm does not have the problem. I'm trying to find a way to allow standard users on the machine to have the ability to change the ppp settings.

The path of the file is C:\Windows\System32\DpiScaling.exe

I tried to use the solution listed on this site: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/window-on-windows/?p=635

and used the Application Compatibility Toolkit.  I used a lot of different options, the 32-bit version, 64-bit, different boxes, without success. When you click right on the file properties and click on the Compatibility tab, it says:
Cannot be set on this program compatibility modes because it is part of the Windows version.

I have a standard users also granted full control of the executable, and if the logged-on user account, he got always invited him to enter the administrator credentials. I understand that this only gives the user access to the file and not what the file does.

I need to find a solution to allow standard users on the computer to change the DPI settings without the need of the admin password.  While looking for solutions here and on the site of regular microsoft (support.microsoft.com) support, all I could find are methods that disable the guests of UAC elevation and ways to disable UAC completely.    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7security/thread/0364515a-301e-47C5-AF99-39347b83c6b4-je don't want to do that.  I even tried and the standard user has always invited to enter an admin password.  I don't want to disable UAC or the guests of elevation, surprisingly these guests don't mind.   The computer is set to high resolution and need to continually change the DPI setting to enable the second monitor (my HDTV) text output in a format that is clear and correct.  The reason why we have change back is because the cursor of the mouse in the PC video games being played here on disappears when the DPI is set to what higher than normal / default. So before any game is played, the DPI settings in windows settings must be changed to the default / normal.

Since I was the user only administrator on the machine, I am concerned when other users would like to play their games. but can not, because I am not present.  I want to be the only Admin account on the machine.  Bad things tend to happen when I allow other users are administrators on the machine.

  • Allow a program to run in Standard user

    Hi all

I have a problem, as stated above.

I have currently the program has installed in an administrator account and I would like another user who is a Standard user in the computer to use the program without entering the administrator password to run the program.

    Is it possible?

Reinstall program to make it available to all users "work" but perhaps you only want certain users to be able to run the program.

You can use the command runas with the "savecred" option to create a shortcut to the program - you must enter the credentials of the administrator at least once for Windows to Save Credpickers and then you would set but there is a possibility of the user can understand it and then be able to run any program as administrator.

Here are some examples of how to implement that:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/124087/how-to-create-a-shortcut-that-lets-a-standard-user-run-an-application-as-administrator/

    https://www.maketecheasier.com/standard-users-run-program-Admin-rights/

You may reach the goal without "savecred" using a task scheduled to run the desired program:

    http://www.SevenForums.com/tutorials/11949-elevated-program-shortcut-without-UAC-prompt-create.html

There are some third-party programs that you can use if you want to install (not tested):

    http://www.Sordum.org/8727/runastool-v1-0/

If you do a Google search on something like:

allow standard users to run as Administrator without password

You will get a lot of ideas but the sounds of the awkward set of ideas.

It looks like a some of them present a potential security risk if the user no Admin numbers how it's done.

  • Is there anyway that a domain user can install the application without administrator rights in Windows 7 Professional?

We are a small IT shop and we look for ways allow domain users install the application to their practice without having to babysit them or run from one PC to another.  I read an article on group policy, but he does not understand the implementation.

    is this possible at all?
    Thank you

You need to change the privileges of use in Active Directory on the server. Or create a local computer account and allow users to install applications to use it.

Using Active Directory would be the most simple, open AD > users

Right-click on the account and change the domain they can log on which is administrators.
