• Can someone guide me through the download anit-virus software?

  My school requires that I have download their anit-virus software to access my account and the site of the school.

  I took the steps to download the software and uninstall any anit-virus program. Before you go to the Helpdesk.

  I was wondering if someone could help me. I go to my computer downloads and click on the program, it is written 'save' or 'run '. I click on run and Windows tells me that the Publisher of the program is not identifiable, so I go to the site and he told me just to make sure its good, I keep on clicking then and it won't work.   You have Windows Defender pre-packaged with Windows 8.  You have disabled and you uninstall software antivirus installed on the device?  (McAfee, Norton)  Use the product removal tool to make sure you have removed all traces of the software.

  What is the name of the software product you are trying to install?  Have you tried to go to safe mode with networking Mode to install the software?

  To enter safe mode with networking Mode, press the Windows key + R to open the run

  Type Msconfig > OK

  Click on the Startup tab

  Check secure boot

  Check the networking

  Click on apply, Ok

  Reboot and you'll enter Mode safe mode with networking

  Now try to install software or download a new copy of the software and select run

  When you are finished before you restart, return to Msconfig and uncheck safe startup.  Click Ok and restart.

  When you are finished before you restart the computer, go back to Msconfig and uncheck secure boot, click Ok and restart.

• Receive an alert of Mozilla FireFox saying: I have viruses on CPU, however, Avira software showes nothing. What should do?

The result is that I had a virus (Trojan and malware) on my computer. To correct, he said to download something from Creative Technologies... I have not download - not knowing what it was.   Mozilla Firefox is a web browser, not an antivirus scanner.

  This looks like one of those sites where a fake animated scanner happens (in a Windows theme) and then pretend you're infected with something false, just to let you download which will really be that infects the computer Windows run. Most obvious, that it is wrong when we get this on Mac OSX or Linux.

• boot sector virus

  I had a bug in my boot sector, it restarts my system whenever the Windows startup screen appears. I tried a repair install, but no luck... Does anyone know a way for me to reach my office without a complete install? I don't want to lose all my data. I'm not BACK, but I can get a command prompt with the system recovery tool.

  Spybot has been a pretty good scan. I've personally never had much faith in Ad-Aware. Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware set standards these days at the malware scanners. Fortunately, in these times of economic stress, each have free versions.

  Kapersky is certainly a good anti-virus software, but, as you noted, taxes can start to add up. I chose the free version of Avast 5.0. Actually, I would almost bet that if you have installed Avast and completed a scan at startup you would find additional malware. Be aware that you can not have Avast and installed simultaneously Kapersky. This applies even if it is temporary.

  No matter what anit-virus software you choose. None have a 100% detection rate. Therefore, stay free malware requires a multi-layered approach. • Why Thunderbird runs very slow on Windows 7 CAUSE: McAfee

  Installed Thunderbird worm 31.6.0 on my desktop Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 32-bit, 4G ram, Intel i5 processor clocked at 2.66 GHz,
  a few months ago and he ran very well in the beginning.
  Now that I've used for some time it slowed considerably.
  All Thunderbird functions slow clicking to select a group of messages, even deleting just one single message, opening a message, etc.
  It has compact records on several occasions, and I did not have a large number of stored messages (maybe the total of all files, including waste, spam, sent, etc. is about 500).
  I use McAfee Anit-Virus, which ignores analysis attachments to emails.

  Do a search on the web for how to properly uninstall McAffee software.

  This is NOT necessary on Mac OS x.

  Antivirus software is NOT necessary if you are running Mac runs only OS x Antivirus apps interfering with the normal functioning and operation of a Mac because they program too many controls (program extensions) into the main OS X system software impacting negatively / hinder overall performance of a Mac.

  Here are some of my pieces of advice on how to avoid viruses in the future, if you encounter a virus, once again.
  Anti-virus solutions can slow down your Mac, but to be honest, the best app anit-virus is you, the user, and your brain.

  Do not visit questionable sites or Web site, you do not know.
  Do not use Torrents or engage in "Torrenting".
  Do not install pirated software or software downloaded from unknown or questionable websites or sources of untrutsted.
  Java is still a problem of vulnerability, if you don't need it, don't use it.
  Use a browser filter and pop-up Blocker
  Do not open not attached to the e-mail addresses that you do not recognize.
  Install the security updates as soon as they are available
  Find out more about what threats are common and active.
  Indeed, use your own brain as the anti-virus filter.
  Follow that advice and in MOST cases, you will be fine and don't risk your Mac to the potential of Trojans, malware or viruses.

  To answer your questions in full, it would be quite a task but here is my simple guide: -.

  1. connect to the internet

  1.1 choose an ISP (provider of Internet Sertvice) and get a CD with the software and the connection information.

  1.2 load the CD and follow the onscreen instructions to set up your login information.

  1.3 If you use dial-up connect your cable modem to your laptop and the other end to your telephone line.

  1.4 If you are using broadband services to connect your CODEC to your USB port and the other cable to your microfilter attached to your telephone line.

  1.5 DO NOT START YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION UNLESS YOU HAVE ANTIVIRUS RUNNING ON YOUR LAPTOP.

  1.6 Click START-> CONNECT TO-> the connection created in 1.2 above

  For the wireless connection, the procedure is similar braodly but you need a router or wireless modem connected to your telephone line and properly configured in Notepad you.

  Follow step 1.5 with a lot of attention. If you connect to the internet without anit-virus software and firewall appropriate, it will be only a few seconds before your laptop computer will be infected with a form of virus. Please be careful.

  Hi - I have an A40 SP 1.5 years, and for the last six months or so it was ridiculously slow. The software is constantly "not responding". I have the anit-virus and spyware AVG, doctor who show no virus or spyware that can slow down the system. I use a little over 1/3 of the c: / ability. Any ideas on what could be the problem here?

  The configuration of the software is not known to us, but, as you know the OS must be clean from time to time. If you have a lot of software preinstalled on your device, delete all the stuff you don't need.

  Also, try to run the Disk Defragmenter tool. See also applications that start with Windows. There are many different things you can try to make your system faster. I also noticed that some antivir applications slow down the system.

  The first thing to do is start the Utility Manager tasks (right click on the task bar) and check what you have running, as well as the process what CPU they use. For a standard installation of Windows XP I would expect to see about process assets of 40-50 but only 1 or 2% of CPU. Stop every process that you don't want especially if they use a lot of CPU.

  Then, run a analysis suitable anit-virus and also a scan of Malware (Adaware and Spybot) and clean everything they find your system.

  Finally, run a cleaning disc, followed by a Disk Defragmenter (both in the Accessories/System Tools menu).

• Satellite A660-10W screen saver does not display

  Nice day.

  My screen saver, power saver, screen dimmer, etc. will come not on the same when I change the wait time, etc. and save the settings.
  I have a Magic Jack hooked up all the time to one of the USB ports - could it be the cause does not activate the Saver screen or could it be something in the McAfee Anit-virus, anti-spyware system cause?

  Usually the screen saver appears if you would not touch the keyboard, the touchpad or mouse for awhile.

  I didn t know the magicJack but I googled a bit and it seems that this device that plugs into a USB port provides a standard phone jack RJ-11 in which any standard phone can be connected.
  This might be the reason, but that's just a guess

  But check the screen saver timeout settings:
  This will change the timeout of screensaver for all users
  -Open the Local Group Policy Editor (type gpedit.msc in the search)
  -In the left pane, click on to expand user, administrative templates, control panel and customization
  -In the right pane, right-click on the screen saver time-out and click on change
  -Select enabled
  -In the Options, select or how many seconds must elapse in order to launch the screensaver
  -Click OK and close the editor.
  -Restart the device and check if this work.

• HP Envy M6 - cannot download files

  I have a new HP Envy M6 computer laptop running 64-bit Windows 8.  I tried to download (Adobe Reader and Firefox for example) files through Internet Explorer 10 and he did not finish the download.  When I select the download of the site form, it starts the download process and runs for a few seconds, but stops about 65% to 98% and never complete.  More when you try to watch a video on You Tube it starts the process of download plays the video and then stops about 20 seconds in and never finished.  I disabled my antivirus and get the same result.  Regarding the Internet connection, I have another computer running Win7 with the same anit virus and have no problem to download files and watching videos You Tube.  I tried the cable connections and wireless but get the same result on both.  As a side, note the Windows Update tool has no problem downloading Windows updates and install them.  Suggestions on how Win8 and IE 10 manage downloads differently than Win7 because the only difference between my two laptops is the hardware and OS?
