Why Thunderbird runs very slow on Windows 7 CAUSE: McAfee

Installed Thunderbird worm 31.6.0 on my desktop Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 32-bit, 4G ram, Intel i5 processor clocked at 2.66 GHz,
a few months ago and he ran very well in the beginning.
Now that I've used for some time it slowed considerably.
All Thunderbird functions slow clicking to select a group of messages, even deleting just one single message, opening a message, etc.
It has compact records on several occasions, and I did not have a large number of stored messages (maybe the total of all files, including waste, spam, sent, etc. is about 500).
I use McAfee Anit-Virus, which ignores analysis attachments to emails.

There were reports of slow performance with Thunderbird on Win7?
Maybe my problem is caused by McAfee?
Ideas, suggestions are welcome,
Thank you
Ken

    Help, please...

    Wrong, wrong, wrong.

This is entirely based on compatibility to a level beyond what is offered in the standard "Windows compatibility" section.  In addition to this, everything you said had absolutely nothing to do with the question.  This has nothing to do with starting or whatever it is in the same direction.

What is happening is that something is interfering with the normal functioning of the game because of changes in the kernel of the operating system because it has been updated / rewritten since the inception of Windows XP.

    @SOVIETTION
The most likely solution for you has nothing to do with the videobuffer here is how fix you it:

Find the Red Alert installation directory and find the file * md.ini.
In revenge for Red Alert 2/Yuri, it will be 'RA2MD. INI"(feel free to make a backup of the file before proceeding)
Open it with your favorite text editor (Notepad for most people)
Scroll down until you find the section [Video]
Just below you will add this line-
    VideoBackBuffer = no
Save the file in the same place and load the game.

    Enjoy!

The VideoBackBuffer = none works perfectly, but in my case I also had to set the compatibility mode to Windows XP SP2.

    Bravo for you!

  • NFS most wanted 2 is stuck and running very slow on windows 8

    Hello, everyone
I can't play most wanted NFS 2 on Windows 8 on my pc.
I have 2 GB of ram which is the minimum requirement... is my computer toshiba satellite L300 laptop.
The game got installed and the intro works well, but when the game starts, it starts to get stuck and lagging... Please help me... I would be very grateful.

    Hi Mohammed,.

For a better understanding of the issue, let me know if you get an error message?

This problem could occur due to these reasons.

    1. Conflict between third-party applications.
    2. Because of missing updates.
    3. If the game is not properly installed or damaged.

Try the steps listed here and see if it helps.

    Method 1:
I suggest to put the computer in a clean boot state and check if you can start the game.

Setting the system in a clean boot state will help you determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.
How to perform a clean boot for a problem in Windows

Note: After the clean boot troubleshooting steps, see the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

    Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest you to download and install all the updates of Windows including the optional updates. You can also install the latest display driver and all other drivers of newer devices on the manufacturer's Web site and check if it helps.

    http://support.Toshiba.com/support/modelHome?FREETEXT=L300

    Method 3:
If the problem persists, you can uninstall and reinstall the game. Check if it helps.

To uninstall the game see these steps.

    (a) press Windows key + R, type Panel.

    (b) click on the game.

    (c) click on programs and features, click on uninstall a program.

    (d) with the right button on the game, click on Uninstall.

Now re-install the game and check if it works.

If the problem persists, I suggest you to contact game support for assistance on this issue.

  • T - bird very slow, freezes frequently. Cause: McAfee analysis in real time

Earlier today, T-bird was ok but would not send (I could send no problem my phone and my webmail, so I know that the problem was with the T-bird, or its interface with my server, but not with the server itself). I restarted my computer a couple of times and downloaded all the updates my system suggested and was able to send e-mail from T-bird, though only after several attempts. But now, the T-bird works very slowly and keeps freezing, with or without message "not responding". I'm trying to delete messages from delay to see if this is the problem, but even this is slow. Any suggestions? Y at - it an upgrade that I missed or something? Thank you. MaxineKL

Thanks for all the suggestions. I checked for malware. There were about a quarter of an inch of dust on the heatsink that was on my processor so after I removed which helped A LOT. The Muse is still wobbly, so I just rebuilt from zero and no problems so far. He must have gotten corrupted somehow.

Vista and Windows 7 updated drivers love then here's how update the most important.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

How to install a device driver in Vista Device Manager
    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-Device-Manager-install-driver.html

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows
Updates, that leaves about Windows updates but it will not install the drivers that will be generally
older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it), then
get new manually if you wish.

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

That should reveal the reason why your Mac is slowing down.

Otherwise, it's just a guessing game.

Personal data is shared in the report

One thing you can try since it is slow to start. Open System Preferences > users and groups > login items. Delete a connection point at the time, and then restart your Mac to test.

  • Satellite L855-14R: games running very slow after installing Win 7

    Hi guys,.

I have the L855-14R satellite, which came with windows pre-installed 8.

I used win 8 during a time and games have been works ok.
So I decided to install a copy of windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.

I downloaded all the drivers from toshiba support and it seems to work fine until I started the same game I played before.

He was running very very slow even on low graphics settings.

No idea of what went wrong after the win 7 installation?

Have Hmm you installed the driver of ATI graphics card?
Maybe the game uses the Intel HD internal graphic that is part of the Intel Core i7-3630QM processor?
