Am I able to re - install vista after doing a windows 7 clean install?

So, I bought a laptop that has Vista and bought and did a clean install of 7.

I am building a new computer and would like to spend 7 laptop to new construction and re - install Vista on the laptop. I have everything I need at the end of 7, but all I have is the CD - Key for Vista. There is another laptop in the House running the same version of Vista (32-bit family Basic) I had initially.

Is there a way I can create a Vista installation disc using another laptop or anything? We are even allowed to transfer Windows between computers as I want to do?

Thanks for any help and advice.

No letters, just a long series of numbers.

I am running 64 bit 7 Professional if that helps at all.

Looks like you have the Windows 7 retail license... It's big and what makes it legitimate to remove you Windows 7 off the coast of this laptop and move it toward your new system you have stated your desire was.

Back up all your data.  Can use Windows Easy Transfer and an external hard drive to make sure that you have your personal settings and files the currently Windows 7 system.

Download and create an installation of Windows Vista bootable DVD.  You can get help (and links to legitimate downloads) here:
http://www.heidoc.NET/Joomla/technology-science/Microsoft/57-Windows-Vista-direct-download-links#

You are basically these three files (for the DVD itself):
X 14 - 63452.exe
Boot.wim
install.wim

You can follow the directions under the heading 'create your own Vista ISO bootable image' on the link of the web start page to create an ISO image and then burn that image on a DVD.

I suggest to perform a new installation using the DVD and product key you have on the sticker on the laptop that you remove Windows 7 from (for Windows Vista).  This will remove Windows 7 system (naturally).  You will need drivers for the laptop too - but that should be no problem accessing the web page of the manufacturer of the laptop.

Then, you can use the product key and Windows 7 media to install Windows 7 on the new system.  Install all your software, patch, obtain the correct drivers from the manufacturer and restore your data.

The list of parts does not help me because it shows that there may be one of 3 different model wireless network cards.

If you are unsure, please do the following so I can understand what your laptop's model card...

Go to Device Manager.  There should be a category of other devices containing a list of devices that need drivers under this category.

The wireless card is labeled as a network controller.

Click the network controller device, and then click the Details tab in the upper part of the window of network controller device.

  • Back to Vista after Non - Genuine Windows 7 installed

I bought a computer compaq laptop and I have Windows Vista installed in it. a few days back colasped, I took the laptop to a guy, he has installed a pirated version of Windows 7.

Now I want to go back to my windows vista I guess it was home edition. I did not make any recovery of widows earlier disc, but I have the product key for activation windows with me.

Kindly tell me how to recover my Vista Home back on my laptop.

Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

  • How can I re install Windows Vista after upgrading to Windows 7? I don't have any disks that came with my computer reset.

original title: what am I doing here? Help, please

the computer that we originally came with vista home premium installed on with no disc reset and I want to change Windows 7 to vista, but I don't have the disk to reset for it, anyone know where I can get the drive, or if it would be possible to reset HP windows vista 7.

and I have all the vista files in a separate hard drive

I really need help can someone help me please

    Hi Jesse,.

I suggest contacting the manufacturer of your computer to obtain the replacement installation discs for Windows Vista:
  • Back to Vista after not authentic Windows 7 was installed

    a friend installed a copy of windows 7 ultimate in gift, now is to show that counterfeiting;

I want to go back to vista, but it was removed from my laptop,

How can I download a copy of vista and use my original key to activate it, preferably without any cost more

Really, the only option is to contact the manufacturer of the computer and get a set of recovery disc for a small fee (no cost) to restore your system back to factory conditions.  It would be a pure install so be sure that you have backed up your important data (programs, settings and updates will have to be re-installed).  Another option is to find someone with an Installation disc full Vista genuine in the same size of the bit and use it to do the installation with your original key (assuming that the key was for a full installation - if it was an upgrade, you must install and activate the original operating system first and then perform the upgrade - you can not use a key to upgrade to a full installation).

There is no download legal, free Vista product from anywhere.

Here is Microsoft's policy on replacement software: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326246/en-us.  As you can see, it won't be a big help in this situation if you want to avoid or at least minimize costs.

I'm sorry, we can not help you more, but these are your options.

    Good luck!

  • can I reuse my retail ultimate vista after upgrading to windows 8 pro

    Hello

I read somewhere that after upgrading my Vista Ultimate retail copy to Windows Pro I can reuse the key product & Vista Ultimate DVD on another computer, is - it true?

    Thank you

    FLOSS

    Hello

    No, it is not true.

If you upgraded from Vista to Windows 8 using the Vista license under the qualification of license, the license of Vista becomes an integral part of the legal license of 8 Windows and you are not allowed to install Vista on another computer.

  • Under Vista, after doing the update of Windows, affected by the half second periodic freezes

Vista Home Premium SP2 with all updates.

For about a week now (since the last round of updates or more) my GUI everything will freeze.  The mouse stops, all text I type stops, and can contain any game I'm running.  This happens regularly (but not constantly) and co incident with the HD LED blinks on the front panel (sometimes).

When I open the Task Manager and moving to different charts, I see normal activity of the CPU to 1%-4% suddenly spike to 50% very briefly.  That's when the freeze happens.  It doesn't happen all the time however.  I see a lot of services are popping up with increased use of the processor but have not been able to establish a correlation between those to whom they are.  Most of what I see are simply "svchost" which basically can be anything.

My normal operating mode must have three elements running: Firefox, Thunderbird, and MS Live Messenger.  Individually and together, none of them appear to be involved, although I thought that maybe one, or more, can be simply "looking for things.  Even without anything going (all programs closed), I can slowly be the mouse on the screen and detect the second gel front of "catch-up".  This, I suppose, tells me that the mouse is still playing, but not moved to the screen.

Similarly, if I change a Word document, or a text file, my typing stops at the screen, but when the freeze is finished, it "catches up".  However, if I beat the exit screen more of 5 or 6 characters, they get missed completely (I'm a fast typist).

Anyone can shed some light on this?  It happens to someone else, or is it just me?

    Bill

We seem to have some confusion in terminology. The program from Sysinternals which replaces the task manager's Process Explorer. With that, I would like to keep an eye on interrupts and deferred procedure calls that would indicate a driver problem. Process Monitor gives you a trace of all the system calls that can help find what's going on just before and after the frost. You cannot set to stop on a trigger. There is another tool Sysinternals, ProcDumpTechNet.Microsoft.com/Sysinternals/dd996900,http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/dd996900 , that allows you to perform a dump when certain events occur. You then can it analyze with the debugging tools for Windows. Here's an example of it in action: http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovich/archive/2010/08/24/3351213.aspx .

To cause a freeze something must either be maxing out carrots time allowing anything to pre-empt it rather than holding on to a resource which prevents anything else running. For me, the most likely cause would be a pilot.

  • down free space after doing a windows update!

OK, I don't know what's going on, but after I installed the updates of windows on my computer, I lost 3 GB of space free all together! (at first it was only 1 to 2 GB, and I brushed it off because I think it's the space updates have taken place, but then decreased 1 GB of itself!)

I'm not using the inet (well, except for the now, since my question) and I was running just a scan of Prevx (since SpiritX recommends so in its messages)

[2].. . How do delete you old shadow copies and keep the most recent 1?

  • Add ons manager crashes after doing a Windows 7 system restore.

Firefox has been restored from 23 Version to Version 20. Now, none of my Extensions or PlugIns appears and when I click on "Get Add-ons" I just get a "loading" and it crashes. I tried to delete the files extension.ini and extensions.sqlite and restart Firefox, but that has not worked. It seems that the add ons and extensions are there, but just not accessible through add on Manager.

You would not lose personal data as extensions installed as long as you would not choose to delete personal data wouldn't you uninstall Firefox.

You should always be careful with the system restore feature because Windows does not show you what files are restored.

It is highly likely that some .ini. and the .js files in the Firefox profile folder have been returned to older versions.

Have what kind of problems you had with Firefox 23?

    Please help me

    It is very simply;

You just lucky to get this Vista Manager startup is again to boot from the ORIGINAL Vista MS DVD. He undertakes to repair the boot loader, and you will be able to start in Vista.

Then, you need to install the EasyBCD tool. It of free and this tool helps you to understand the additional operating systems in the Vista Boot Manager.

PS: Win 2003 Server drivers are not available. You could check if some drivers Win XP would work on this laptop.

  • I'll be able to install Windows 10 from scratch and use my Vista license to activate Windows 10?

Original title: 10 free for Vista Windows?

    Hello

I know that Windows 10 will be a free Windows 7 upgrade or 8/8.1 for the first year.  I run Vista Ultimate, and I would like to upgrade to Windows 10 as well.  I'm not interested in upgrading my Vista installation - it's almost 10 years and it's time to start over.  I'll be able to install Windows 10 from scratch and use my Vista license to activate Windows 10?  I totally understand don't want not to support an upgrade of a system of directly to 10 Microsoft Windows Vista, but Vista licenses will be able to 'upgrade' to Windows 10 licenses?  I have not found information on it online.  Everything speaks to us (ameioration) for Windows 7/8/8.1 for Windows 10.  It would be a shame for Microsoft to extend an olive branch to some legitimate users of Windows and others do not.

    Thank you

  • Problem re-installing VISTA after the removal of Windows 8 Preview Release, all I get is a black screen with a message "Not found operating system"

I recently tried Win 8 on my VAIO laptop spare parts on which I ran Vista, after having previously deleted all the files and documents (I don't use often the laptop). Having concluded that Win8 will really work correctly with a touch screen (and the display size was bad as well), I uninstalled WIN 8, understand that I have to re - install Vista from my rescue disks. This I tried successfully a few months previously to make a clean reinstall. However, after removing 8 WIN via the Control Panel, I can't re - install Vista now. All I get is a black screen with a message "The operating system not found" and the rescue disks do not register. What can I do? I like Vista (although I now run Win 7 on my PC) and really want to put it back. Grateful for the advice.

Well I finally fixed it by tweaking the BOOT BIOS settings and find something along the lines of VAIO Setup. I'm afraid, I just don't remember exactly what I did, but suddenly I found and ran 'VAIO Hardware Diagnostics' gave me a heart when it announced "no error was detected on the Vaio. Then I saw there was an entry for 'VAIO Recovery Utility - Recovery Wizard' and everything started to load. Since the 2 recovery discs I had. Finally, I ran MS Office and Small Business CD-ROM and now everything is back the way that it used to be. Here I had taken more note of how I got to the well Recovery Wizard. I hope that I never have to do it again!

  • No sound on Vista after installing SP1/SP2 with Realtek

    Hello.

I encountered a strange problem on the computer of my parents-in-law office. After an installation of SP1 (and later SP2) no sound stereo speakers that is connected to the computer to an outlet.

The computer is an Acer Aspire T180 with a built-in audio device Realtek HD (5.1, but the connected speakers are two standard PC speakers), and the operating system is Vista. Before installing SP1, the sound was working properly, and absolutely no software or hardware changes have been completed.

    My troubleshooting so far include:

-Tested with a helmet and another pair of speakers that I know works

-I have obviously checked that nothing is cut in all available parameters, or speakers

-Tried each input/output on the back of the computer, as well as on the front

-Checked in "output devices" that the speakers are connected and checked by default device

-Tried the two codecs/drivers available here: http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/desktop/aspire_t180.html

-Tried the drivers of avaiable supplied directly from Realtek: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/

-Uninstalled Realtek everything (both in the Device Manager and programs) and let Vista automatically install the original drivers

-Disabled the 'digital output device (s/PDIF)"which is in the list of devices in output/game

-Unchecked the 'detect connection on the front"in Realtek audio manager program

-In addition, SP2 has been installed, which did not help. In addition, I tried every setting available, uninstalled/installed and so on. During music playback (or test tones Realtek or Windows sounds) all is apparently looking for OK with indicators of volume, jumping up and down, but everything is quiet.

So I'm out of ideas and cannot understand this. I am very grateful for any help and advice. Thank you!
