an exe file with VB 2008 studio runs on Windows 98 Second Edition

Hello

I did a small file EXE with Visual Studio 2008 and it runs great on my Vista and windows XP PC, but will not work on Windows 98 Second Edition.

Is that what I can do to get it runs on Windows 98 Second Edition?

The program was written for this computer that monitors my surveillance system.

Thank you for taking the time.

Lyle

    Hello murrayrm,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

    You can try Compatibility Mode:

If the program is not compatible, then you try to install and run the program in compatibility mode.

    Use the following steps:

    (1) right click on the program

    2) click Properties

    3) click on the Compatibility tab

    (4) select run this program in compatibility mode and select Windows Vista or other operating system, the program has been run successfully.

Check out the link here: make sure to run older programs in this version of Windows

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows

If compatibility is not successful, then try and self-test program compatibility issues:

    1. open the program compatibility problems theStart button.

Then click on Control Panel. In the search box, type troubleshooting tool, then clickTroubleshooting. Under programs, clickRun done for previous versions of Windows.

    2. follow the instructions in the troubleshooting.

If you are unable to install a program, insert the installation disc for the program and, using the Troubleshoot utility, navigate to the program setup file, usually called Setup.exe, Install.exe, or something similar. This utility is not designed to work on programs that have an .msi file name extension.

If this does not help, then you can look into using a virtual program.
If you run Windows 7 Professional or Ultimate versions, install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP mode (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/default.aspx) and run your software in Windows XP.

If you run Windows 7 Home Premium, try VirtualBox (www.virtualbox.org) or VMware (www.vmware.com) Player and install a separate copy of Windows XP (family or professional edition) for this purpose. You can do a search on the internet for any 3rd party virtual programs that runs on Windows 7 Home Premium. Many are free.

    I hope this helps.

    Sincerely,

Is there a version of the "otwin.exe on-time" program that will run on windows 7?

Original title: a program running on windows xp

It seems that this program was published in 1993 about, so unless the seller, Campbell Services Inc., has released a new version, the answer is probably not.

He also seems to be a 16-bit program, and as such, it will not work on a 64-bit version of win.

  • I am running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition Version 2002 Service pack 3, use the 32-bit or 64-bit upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium?

running Microsoft Windows XP Home edition Version 2002 Service pack 3, used the 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium upgrade?

I followed the instructions on the card that came with the software... indicating that, if I look at my computer it was telling me that my computer works... either 64 or 32, but it does not work.  So my question is, how do you know?

You probably have the 32-bit version of XP (in most individuals, and if your system properties page does not have 64-bit, then you have 32-bit.)

However, if you now have XP 32 - bit or 64-bit XP isn't the issue that relate to your decision to install 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7.  This decision depends on the question to know if your hardware can support a 64-bit operating system.  In this regard, the main reason for users to install a 64-bit operating system is to allow the use of more than 4 GB of RAM.  If your hardware does support more than 4 GB of RAM, there is no interest to install the 64 bit version of Windows 7.

You run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?  With what results?

Click Start > run and type msinfo32 in the "Open" box and click OK.
After the system information window has had time fill, click Edit > select all, and then click Edit > copy.

    Hello NicholasVigliotti,

Take a look at this link: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/exe-file-association-windows-7-vista/

You will need to download a small file called exefix_cu.reg, (see the resolution section of this article). Follow the instructions in the article, and it should repair the registry and to return to the correct association .exe files.

  • Each single Exe file that I want to run is not a valid application 32 for a reason any. Please help me!

I searched the internet on how to solve this problem on my own but finally I'm looking for help because I have tried most of the things and the result is null.

    1. no doubt the main cause looks like either virus, malware, causing this problem (but I am able to get online and speed has no place at all)

    2. does not have anti-virus software. The one I got was off license and I uninstalled it and now I'm not able to run any exe file. It does not matter whether the file is to drive HARD, CD or downloaded from the internet.

    3. I am able to open the Task Manager and the registry. And someone says online to check specific registry values and adjust the settings for a default value, but he was already there... which means register is not performed.

Well, I know that there should be a solution for me, but I don't know what it takes right now. Impossible to restore even, is not a previous restore point.

I suspect that you have an infection, but take a look at the various reasons and solutions herehttp://en.kioskea.net/faq/1591-exe-is-not-a-valid-win32-application

  • .exe files are not open; affected by the Windows Security Center of lazy virus

    Hello!

As the title indicates, none of my executables will open his; on the contrary, when I click on an icon or similar function (as in the start menu), I'm inclined to the screen 'open with... ». I noticed that most often, if I run the program as administrator, it is likely to work without having to manually find the file - still a bit tedious however.

I'm assuming that since I was recently hit by the virus which is a fake Windows Security Center, something my registry has also been hit (take into account the fact that I'm not savvy computer in the slightest). It happened on my user account initial and rather than take action on the right, then, I decided that I would use the other account that I had to install a program better anti-virus (Norton provided ISP) than the one I had been using (the two admin). At that point, I had finished all my activity moved to the new account and it worked very well until the virus had one possessing this account as well - delete on the first user account seemed to have deleted only the effects of my account but still affected everything I did after that. This time, I went and deleted all accounts and checked to ensure that it is not at all. After getting rid of the virus, it's the same thing: none of my .exe files will open without using the monitor "open with...". ». I'm not really sure what action to take from here, I have not done much to remedy the situation, and I'm going right through the screen of "open with...". "to get to what whatever - so any suggestions or help would be very appreciated.

    Keypoints:

    • .exe files are not open (However, in some cases, the "Run as Administrator" option overrides it)
    • recently hit with (deleted) and fake Windows Security Center virus ; That's when the .exe is no longer
    • is not much in terms of addressing this problem, do not know what to do with regard to the question of if my situation calls for something specific

I tried to cover everything that seemed important to address; However, if there is more need information, let me know. I am about average in terms of computer navigation and therefore my understanding of what many of these commands, functions and files is a bit Basic.

    Thank you! :)

Thanks for the very comprehensive post. Run the Doug Knox fix (that isn't a .exe that you can do this).

  • Problem getting setup.exe file from Acrobat XI - using WinRAR extractor - "Windows cannot find a file... '.

I downloaded Adobe Acrobat XI from my download of the University site (so I know it's a legitimate and safe copy).  When I run the .exe file, even if an administrator, he begins to extract using WinRAR archive self-extracting and stops with an error pop-up windows:

    «Windows cannot find «C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\Adobe Acrobat XI\setup.exe»»

I scanned using Malwarebytes, AVG, Spybot and run a \scannow command.  Nothing is a corrupt file.  Any ideas what might be causing the extractor does not work?

I am running Windows 7 on a Dell 64 bit laptop.

SOLUITION - I had to actually download a version of WinRAR Extractor.  Right click on the file AcrobatXI - Windows.exe downloaded and choose "Open with WinRAR" (this option was not available until I downloaded the WinRAR application - apparently the extractor runs automatically, but does not have full functionality).  Then I nagivated in the Adobe Acrobat folder in the WinRAR window selected the setup.exe file to run.  It has open and installed beautifully.

  • dbms_scheduler.file_watch shoot only in files with t/s > = last run...

    Hello
I may be missing something easy, but instead of spinning my wheels, I'll ask.

I am new to the use of the file_watcher in the dbms_scheduler so I followed the instructions posted in this link:
    http://AWADs.NET/WP/2011/03/29/did-you-know-about-file-watchers/

Now it works, I can process the file.
But the file_watcher WILL ONLY Pull files that are changed/created AFTER the last race.

Since I'm not running in parallel, which means that any file not picked up in the initial round will simply sit outside here aging.

Am I missing something? I understand that maybe it's a desired behavior to only pick up new files, but our process moves files out of the directory after they are. It seems strange that if you do not run it at the same time, the file will be ignored for ever more.

    Am I missing a setting?

    Hey Harrison,

It's logical. Looks like what you want exactly is to set parallel_instances to true - things do work when you do this?

With parallel_instances set to FALSE, when three events are received at the same time, 2 will be ignored because no parallel work will work that once both and events received during a performance of the work will be ignored.

With parallel_instances set to TRUE, when three events happen at the same time, 3 instances of the task will be executed even if their routes overlap. That looks like what you want - three different instances running for each of the three separate files.

Is there a reason you don't want to parallel_instances the true value?

    Thank you
    Ravi.
